So, I have pretty much used the partitions for years for big game. Just bought a new Icon in 308 and was thinking about trying something like the Hornady Interbond, or the Nosler accubond? Anyone have expierence taking big game with these?

Dolomie may be right that you only need the primer seated flush or below, and the primer may expand and eventually seal itself, but how much gas escapes before it provides a good seal? What amount of damage can this cause given the amount of ammo one shoots? I've seen several 38S needing new top ends because of this very issue. In each case the breech-face was pitted badly. This round in IPSC open guns are notorious for loose primer pockets because of the high pressures they load. Granted, most of these guns were owned by shooters who shoot a LOT, but a breech-face should far outlast a barrel or 3 or 4.
-
Not that I'm aware. I have loaded 38S until the primers fell out on their own. I usually load rifle on a single stage and so I'm seating the primers by hand. If I feel one that goes in too easy I chuck it. I imaging the gas pressure escaping around a loose primer could act like a cutting torch on the breach-face.

Annual Classifier Match 10 & 11 March in Dickson
timcalhoun replied to AH1356's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Sights?..........what sights??? -
Here ya go..... powder valley has winchester small rifle primers @ 25 per 1K. Buy a case of 55g FMJ from Montanna gold @ 80 per 1K. I will usually order with a couple of friends and split the hazmat/shipping on powder and primers and buy in bulk to save a little extra too.

Yep, I think they had over 70 shooters. Not bad for their first match. If things go well they are going to do IDPA too. I think your on to something! -

Just come to a match and start. All you need is a gun 5 mags, holster and mag pouches. The next USPSA match in our area will be in Dickson, TN on March 10th and 11th. Here is the info: http://ntps.org/index.htm -
Here is a vid of Rock Castle's first montly USPSA match. Stages were great and the facility was amazing!! Matches are scheduled for every 4th weekend. Well worth the trip!!! Please excuse the crappy shooting, I'm pretty rusty, but thought you might want to see the stages etc.....

I'm not familiar with that one, but the reason I asked is because any 1911 with a FP safety that works off the grip safety like the Kimbers, can get out of sync. It's not that unusual that the grip safety will allow the trigger to drop the hammer but wont get the FP block out of the way.
-
It wasn't a kimber by any chance was it?

Bred.......sorry. More people voted for Obama too, that obviously didn't make him a good prez...... Added: I do believe that the glock is a better choice for police departments and most officers though.
-
Thanks man, I didn't think so, because I, like them, would choose something that would be more likely to help me survive. A faster more accurate gun does that. Point is there is no down side particularly with the hi-cap. Ease of stripping or cleaning doesn't enter the eqation for me. I'm going to be carrying it and only cleaning it when it's safe to do so, and a couple of extra parts is no biggie.
-
We know the 1911 has proven reliable through every conceivable fight around the world. But the reason it is still around and dominant is the superior interface (trigger). If you want hi cap get a 2011.......best of both worlds. Top Shooters on the planet that prefer the 1911: Rob Leatham Dave Sevigny (Immediately switched when not working for glock) Todd Jarrett Shannon Smith Travis Tomasie Max Michael Manny Bragg Frank Garcia Blake Miguez Chris Tilley JJ Racaza KC Eusebio Jessie Harrison (Same as Dave, immediately switched after leaving glock) Julie Golosky Shane Cooley (JR world Champ army AMU) I could go on and on and on....... Top Shooter that actually prefers a glock: Bob Vogel We know it's reliable, we know it is a superior shooter, and if you want more capacity get a 2011. That is all. Oh and it was born and bread in the good ole USA

As said, both are just games with a timer and a score. Both WILL improve your pistol handling skills. Neither will prepare you to clear a house or survive a force on force encounter. Play both and see what you like. Many play both all the time. If I had the time, I would play both, and be active in 3 gun.

timcalhoun replied to timcalhoun's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Sure, anyone can come out and watch and it cost nothing to watch. Rifles used are mainly AR types in 5.56 or larger and the pistols are 9mm or larger. -

USPSA match in Dickson 11 & 12 February
timcalhoun replied to AH1356's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
Only one stage is a classifier "O6-05 Fluffy's Revenge 2". In USPSA you need to shoot 4 of these to get classified nationally. Next month we have our yearly classifier match that has 4 classifiers. So, if you shoot that, you get your classification in one match. -
:)Thanks guys!!! Stoney and Jimmy's it is!!

The only pay off would be weight, but the 1911 requires more steel to operate than does say a glock. If it comes in much below 32-33oz I would be surprised and then very worried it would not last many rounds before failure.

Anyone know if they are posted? I was going to Ruth Chris tonight but just learned that they are posted.
