  1. When I was stationed at Ft Bragg, the post had a shed they let us use to field dress/process our deer. They would collect hides for the Scouts who would tan the hides and use them for their projects. I've never tried it though I have read up on it, sounds easy enough, procedure wise.

Naw, my AR did just fine, though the shotgun would of came in handy for food harvesting. As it was we dropped a few things for the grill. I wasn't so much worried about the four (or no) legged danger anyway, it was the two legged variety that we had to worry about. And there was enough in the group to deal with either.
  3. Nice, at least it won't go to waste, and the antlers can be used as well since they are not broken.

I'd actually grease my M4's BCG carrier rails, not for desert conditions, but for range and jungle conditions. Not heavy or anything, but definately grease. Can't recall the name ATM, but it was milspec if I recall correctly.
  5. What Brady Delay? I remember there being a waiting period a while back, but haven't had to wait, even for a handgun, for some time now. As to the reason he passed, probably simple human error. The AF has admitted fault, and I'd put my money on failed job performance vs a procedural failure. The reality is that those officers are needed due to the students, though external security has been mandated as well, the majority of their job includes a student.
  6. I think it does have to be political, otherwise any act can be labeled terrorism. Shooting up a place like Lanza did was not political, and therefore not terrorism. Yea, I know semantics as I am sure the people in that church were terrorized, but strictly speaking not one in the same. Of course to me both should be treated with extreme prejudice, no matter why or what label they put on it.
  7. Because it is different, terrorists are, for the most part, not mentally ill, they have an agenda and to further that agenda they use fear. Mentally ill people, again for the most part, just latch onto something and commit atrocious acts such as this to go out in a blaze of glory, punish someone, anyone, for a perceived slight, or just for the pure pleasure of killing. If some of the rumors about ANTIFA are true, then maybe this guy can fall into both these categories, as can some ISIS terrorists for that matter. Guys like Adam Lanza can be squarely put into the mentally ill category, as he had no reported political/social issues to advance. Others like Emanuel Kidega Samson and Dylann Roof (Church Shootings) may both be Racism, while others well, it can be argued that you have to have a screw loose to do things like this but some actually have an agenda to push and choose murder to advance it.
  8. Be sure to put them in a sealed bag first, those darn things are just dormant and will come back if you leave them alive.
  9. I like it, they need some paintballs filled with that to get some longer distance shots.
  10. I tried going to the link but SOCOM feels it's to dangerous for me to look at, so they blocked it.
  11. I've never dented mine but apparently it's a common issue that they make a tool for it, but it looks to be more expensive than a new tube. Seen many references for using a socket driven through with a mallet to take it out enough to not have the shells bind up. https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/shotgun-tools/straighteners-dent-raisers/magazine-tube-dent-raiser-prod25276.aspx
  12. Try changing theme to the darker one. It looks like you have the standard one right now. Its at the far bottom left, it may or may not do anything for your problem as both work for me but it is worth a shot. Also, you may try flushing your cache.
  13. My condolences, it's been a tough few month for our little friends. We put one of ours down a few weeks ago too, we all miss him. He is buried out at my hunting land, right next to one of my date trees. He is the second to rest there, my other buddy is taking care of my plum tree. I figured I'd move before selling my hunting spot so the decision was easy.
  14. Yea, might be a setting somewhere. I just confirmed that Chrome is working, and from a DOD computer at that, IE here doesn't display the Social Media (facebook) logos or the messages and notification icons while Crome doesn't..strange.
  15. I would see if it has a compatibility setting on Firefox, sometimes, even though there is a standard, some pages and browsers apply that standard slightly different. I used firefox almost exclusively at home, but now am mostly on my tablet and use Chrome and at work, DOD uses Explorer so I haven't used Firefox in some time
  16. I've had some relatively close shots with my .270, 50 yds or under with no issues. I zero at 100 yds, and keep my shots to under 200 yds most times with no compensation on my part. At Ft Bragg, I hunted an area where all the pine trees were lined up dress right dress, so sometimes depending on angle you had a tight window to punch through and I never failed to make the shot. Same when we would walk the ridges pushing deer out of the bottoms, sometimes all you could see is the neck, or if lucky the vitals and yup, put it right through the window. Back when I was considering what caliber to move to, I did some research (pre internet) and came up with the .270 or the 7mm, but the .270 was the first rifle I came across that was in my ballpark $$ wise, which turned out to be a pretty good choice. I use the Speer Grand Slam, it seems to mushroom pretty well at all distances. They used to be sold loaded only, but then they sold as projectiles, now have been discontinued but I bought enough to hunt with for the rest of my time here.
  17. What does it show you when you click the Quote link at the bottom? If nothing what browser are you using, and has it been updated?
  18. I've hunted a few military posts that had shotgun only rules, though now Black Powder is allowed also. I was never fond of using a shotgun, if I was limited as you are I may use a 30/30 minimum, much less drop and much less meat loss. But a regular rifle with say a .270 Win will work in such situations as well, unless you are punching through the branches. When I started hunting in the eastern side of the country (NC) in the 80s, I asked around and most seemed to use the 30/30. It worked good for a couple seasons, until I was allowed to hunt a large track of land with 200+ yard shots, that 30/30 was like lobbing artillery the drop was so bad, I went out and got a .270 and never looked back. The .270 is so flat shooting that you just have to put hair in the scope, and if you do your part, the POI will in there.
  19. Yea, I don't keep good records like that. With as many guns and rifles out there older than I am and still going strong, like my old 303 Brit and M1, round count would mean little to me, if a barrel gets worn, I just cast a bigger bullet, or if real bad, just get another barrel.
  20. Yea, but spell check would just make it a rude comment about Phoebe.
  21. You dang racist, how could you even propose something like that.
  22. Come on, the guy was rich, and his family has had mental issues. What possibly could of they used to convert this guy? Dude was "off", his fuse finally blew.
  23. We need to close that damn Hawaiian snackbar for good! I say we pass a sensible law for background checks and a 5 day waiting period in order to rent a vehicle. We need to think of the kids.
  24. The T word has already been put out there, by many of the MSM of all people, and even Dem Bill de Blasio. Yup, a new sherrif in town.
  25. The only reason I could think of is that he was a lefty, he died, and none of the BS gun control spin took hold for longer than a week. I can imagine what it would be like today if it was a Trump supporter, the MSM would still be keeping it on the front page/lead story, and the lefties on social media would be in complete meltdown, including some here.
