  1. Like they say, you don't play you don't win. We need to play, each and every time these anti-gun bills are put up, we need to knock them down. It has got to become the norm for us to band together and let them know that we are not willing to share even a piece of our cake any longer. https://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2013/11/08/cake-and-compromise-illustrated-guide-to-gun-control/
  2. Seems we need to watch all the back and side doors, this one has not had much press (emphasis mine), looks like they are specifically targeting AR pistol lowers too. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/5103 Introduced in House (02/27/2018) Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act of 2018 This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code, with respect to the excise tax on the sale of firearms by manufacturers, producers, or importers, to: (1) increase the rate of such tax to 20% on pistols, revolvers, and other firearms and on any lower frame or receiver for a firearm; and (2) impose a 50% tax on shells and cartridges. The bill exempts any department, agency, or instrumentality of the United States from such tax. The bill allocates revenues from the increased excise tax under this bill for law enforcement and public safety grant programs, including programs for research on gun violence and its prevention. The bill: (1) increases the occupational tax on importers, manufacturers, and dealers in firearms and the transfer tax on firearms; and (2) modifies the definition of "firearm" for excise tax purposes to include a semiautomatic pistol chambered for cartridges and configured with receivers commonly associated with rifles and capable of accepting detachable magazines.
  3. And welcome to TGO from the same neck of the woods.
  4. They should be introduced to TGO, we need more women like that on board.
  5. I am interested in the wear, that is one of the things I don't like about all these painted guns, the corners/edges seem to wear pretty fast. I like my G23, but that is the only glock I have, the others just don't do it for me, like on the G17, the longer "nose" just doesn't appeal to me, but this one may be on my radar yet.
  6. Maybe not the total GOP, but how many would it take to cross the aisles? And there are already precedents of using a federal agency such as the IRS to pressure groups, so no doubt it would continue. IRs imposes high ammo tax, EPA ban lead bullets, OSHA imposes powder and ammo storage requirements...I have no doubt they would push harder, since they had already started doing it.
  7. I would think that the prosecutor would first have to prove that it violated the law. In order for this to break the law, it would have to fire more than one round per pull of the trigger. Only way for them to "fix" it, is to define a cyclic rate that equals "auto", which would have to be faster than anyone could possibly pull the trigger with no assistance. Because if you want to go the route of "intent", then there goes any weapon those in power want to "tax", or make nearly impossible to transfer/own, which the ATF's own page says is the intent.
  8. I don't know why you guys act surprised, he said, and made happen, that he was going to do this. The thing to do is bombard them with emails and calls letting them know where you stand.
  9. I seem to recall something about the Nashville fairgrounds not allowing gunshows, and Metro trying to force promoters to ban private sales, so maybe it has to do with that.
  10. Just look here: https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/forum/39-firearms-classifieds/ Like this one in 300Blk (a quick barrel change if you want) If not that one, I'm sure someone has something that would strike your fancy. ARs are fun to shoot, I am sure you will like the reduced recoil while out plinking in what ever caliber you want, then if the bug bites you, you can assemble your adult legos any way you want
  11. I don't know about that, at least not in metro currently, with them losing 7.5mil in their budget and all.
  12. What stops them now? They need to discipline them from the get go and teach them that actions have consequences. As to the carry question, it will have to be on person or in one of those quick open bio safes.
  13. And Barry was well on her way to destroying the traffic data as well for her rail system. Quite a bit of traffic stories coming out of Nashville.
  14. I can get behind that, and I bet those that truly want to, will. Sure, there are those that carry that I would not want to be handling weapons around me or mine, but at the same time I would not want my kids to be totally defenseless either. If they just did away with no gun zones, BG would have to think twice about their chosen target. To me it's like placing a big "Rob me" sign in front of your home when you go on vacation, just inviting trouble.
  15. And they think LEO is too "militarized " now? Superintendent Michael Crowley with machine gunners at headquarters. They are ready for big May Day riots, 1920. (Photo by Leslie Jones)
  16. http://galleries.buffalonews.com/default.aspx?id=10078#/22 Buffalo Memories III: The Early Years and the 1950s Friday, February 23, 2018 Some of Buffalo's finest in 1930. In uniform, second from left is Buffalo Police Commissioner Austin J. Roche and at right is Arthur D. Britt, then an auto squad lieutenant and later longtime Erie County Sheriff. They are showing off newly-acquired guns that fire gas shells and illuminating star shells with parachutes.
  17. That may be true, but that protective instinct can be quite a motivator. Undoubtedly schools need more protection, and one of the quickest is to get rid of the no gun zones and put that "unknown element " into the target selection process.
  18. A layman couldn't tell if I was using a bump stock, a stick, shoestring, belt loop, or just my finger to simulate auto fire. That does not make it an auto, a technically?., sure, but news should be technical about their stories.
  19. You have to go through an FFL to sell to out of state resident.
  20. Assault rifles are exactly what the framers of the constitution had in mind when they wrote the 2nd amendment. They have since Infringed on real assault rifles, now they are after the semi auto sporting rifles too. Somehow I don't think ANY of the politicians understand the oath they take.
  21. There must be a huge glitch, nobody is liking my posts
  22. I do believe courage is a choice, but disagree with the premise that it runs down like a tank of gas. I believe that many are just born courageous, and live their life that way. That is not to say that many don't have that one, or two, courageous acts in them, it's that there are those that run to the fire and ones that either stay put or run the other way. I would like to think that everyone can act courageous in certain circumstances, but experiences have taught me otherwise, there are those that would run at the slightest sign of danger, leaving it to someone else to deal with it.
  23. I see nothing wrong per se, it is a matter of perspective, just depends on what side of the door you happen to find yourself on. If the gunman had started banging on doors and the teachers opened it, he would be dead or crucified by all. I don't necessarily view him as a hero though, as that word gets thrown out way too much, it's not like he shielded the kids with his body, or charged the gunman.
