  1. Cool, I had hoped our contribution wasn't just a small drop in a huge empty bucket.
  2. Ah, good to know. I'll have to report all those dang spam messages that get through. I don't use the spam email's included "unsubscribe" link at the bottom unless it is a known company which I no longer want to receive emails from (technically not spam anyways).
  3. Just as a technicality; how would the forum software know who reports the email to their provider? Lets take gmail for instance, many messages automatically go to the spam folder because they tripped gmail's spam logarithm. In this instance it's automatic, but when you report it as spam, are you saying it (gmail) reports to the offending email to it's originating server?
  4. Against a frag, it would help some as the blast usually goes up and out, path of least resistance. But against bullets and direct shrapnel, nope not much help I would bet. Maybe if it was full of water it would help stop the bullets a bit better, but I would think it would run out rather quickly so would not last long.
  5. If you see something, say something. Don't have a bunch of us looking up the same info. You don't have to draw any conclusions for us, but some, like me, are not allowed on some of the research sites.
  6. Well, one I seen, the Davinci 1.0 was $350, the plastic I'm not sure as there are many types and don't know which one to use. But, with a 3d printer there are a bunch of other things to do with them, the site I listed has multitudes of already made (files) projects. look around you, what plastic things would be great to print? And yes, I seen where one AR plastic lower only lasted 600 rounds or some such, but we are talking an easily replaceable piece. Heck, if the plastic is cheap enough, you could print one for each range session. I am not saying that is the only solution, heck right now I'd be stocking up on stripped lowers at under $50, but in a SHTF situation or maybe a post-ban situation, it's an option.
  7. I agree on legality, for now. But not on the cheaper part, at least not for a few lowers. I just priced what I would need to do an 80% and it would be over $400...But it is a good jig, and a hand held router, and of course a blank 80%. The price would come down the more you make, but you will always need to acquire the blanks, with 3d you just need the printer and plastic.
  8. 3d printers are probably great for doing R&D, probably cheaper and possibly faster than sending it out, or spending the man-hours in house on prototypes. The thing is, technology is well ahead of the law, and societal norms, soon, if it's not already available, you could laser scan an object and replicate it.
  9. At that point, the radar would be the least of my worries.
  10. Oh, I did that yesterday on their FB page, and today when I called to get all my account numbers, to link them to USAA, which I told them about as well. BTW, anyone have any corporate contacts? They conveniently left it off of their webpage.
  11. Well, opened up a new account at USAA, changed my direct deposits and have transferred some of my money over. Once my tax payment gets taken out next week, I'll be closing the accounts.
  12. Thanks to @KahrMan, I got one. But he did clue me in on one thing, some of these 3d projects take forever to print. I had seen where a guy had made an AR lower, I thought, great way to arm a group. Now, not so much as it would take too long to do but a few. According to this article, it would take 9 hours to print one, so you'd need a factory full of printers to make it worthwhile. https://www.wired.com/2015/06/i-made-an-untraceable-ar-15-ghost-gun/
  13. I didn't realize they could kick someone out unless it was for cause. Sounds like some kind of rent control tactic to evict lower paying tenants to get higher paying renters in. I'd contact someone, though I don't know who that would be.
  14. Anyone have a 3d printer, and have you tried printing one of these parts? It's to keep primers from jumping out of the ram, so you don't have to keep the primer attachment on the ram, if you prime off the press. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1972400
  15. The picture, I'm ok with it. But I must say I'm surprised by the story, it is as balanced a story as I have seen when the subject is guns. They have both a pro and anti gun view, without too much spin either way; bravo.
  16. Whoa, whoa, lets not start down that road, next thing you know they'll be eating out of blenders or toothpaste tubes.
  17. I reload .40 but have enough at the moment. If nobody else takes it I may get some though.
  18. These writers need to bone up on their reloading equipment and techniques. That round could not of been taken out of the shell holder with it sticking that far out. And single stage presses, while good, would suck in mass production they could of got some turret or progressives to make it seem like they actually knew something. As to sabotage, I would of just reduced the powder in a few to give them squibs and possibly blow up the weapon on subsequent shots with a double load thrown in there every now and then...they would have to dump all the rounds or pull the bullets.
  19. For years I used a Lee powder funnel, the one that came with the anniversary kit. I liked it because it worked with all calibers, but static was an issue. The dryer sheet was helpful with the ball powders, and flake, but the flake wasn't as bad. I loaded a couple hundred at a time then and only wiped it down a couple times a session. The RCBS powder funnel I got was for convenience, I drop directly into it and then into the case, and it works with most calibers. So far this is working good, even with the W296/H110 I use for my 300Blk.
  20. I use this one, haven't had static issues yet, but I keep dryer sheets handy just in case.
  21. I only started in the 80's, and with the Lee Anniversary Kit in 9mm I had everything I needed. It came with a manual, which I still have BTW, and everything you needed to get started. I can't imagine someone in any of the 50 States can't find ONE reloading room. In an apocalyptic scenario, you would be looking for supplies, and with all the shooting taking place since the series began I can assure you any sane person would be looking for means to get or make more ammo. Granted, finding a military base and accessing it's Ammunition Supply Point (ASP) could supply you for a long time, but sooner or later you would need to acquire more. Which begs the question, why didn't they head to a military installation? Getting to Fort Benning would of given them all the food, weapons, ammo, grenades, rocket launchers, claymores they would need to erect a perimeter that a band of outlaws would find extremely difficult to break.
  22. I agree, but will they? For some reason I think not, they are just not willing to listen to unless it furthers their agenda.
  23. Glad to hear the next generation has some level headed kids, wish there were more.
  24. Don't get me started on the lack of reloading equipment, in Georgia no less. In all those towns, there was no reloading room? Heck in most of those towns every other house could arm a good contingent of people. And with all that machinery, all they can come up with is bullets? Heck I'd be improvising rocket launchers and explosives with a lack of NFA enforcement.
  25. Meh, our guys did it for them.
