  1. I'm ok with it, seems so many wrecks are caused by inattentive drivers, and phones being, IMO, the #1 distractor it is about time.
  2. I'm sure EMS was called, LEO can't pronounce him dead. I'm fairly sure they knew he was dead, but until a doctor verifies it they can't do much. Due to the LEO involved shooting, the scene was left as intact as possible. I'm getting tired of blaming LEO for the deaths of these scumbags, they are in the game, with death as an inevitable outcome, why is anyone surprised when it happens. The friends and family are in it as well, there is no way he could have had the kind of money he showed off otherwise, so they are as complicit in this as he was. They also seem to be glossing over the crime he was being sought for, I guess as long as it happens to others it's ok.
  3. This was not due to Trump winning, a Hillary win may have extended this a bit but the outcome would have been the same. This was corporate raiding, plain and simple. https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/2019/06/11/sc-based-gun-distributor-ellett-brothers-goes-bankrupt-lawsuit-says/1420812001/ These maggots should be caged, I don't see how this can be legal.
  4. No, just wash, dry, then vacuum them. Since I dice them up for my salsa, I also just chop them up while still frozen. I may try and pickle some, sliced, for nachos and such, but those I'll do while fresh.
  5. I don't can, I normally just vacuum seal my peppers and freeze them, they seem to keep just fine. I may get into it later, if I can get my tomatoes to give me a large harvest, right now I just share with friends and make a whole bunch of salsa. I have a rain barrel system out on my hunting property, three 55gl blue barrels with overflow. At home I don't mind using the hose, its just that much of the water would water the neighbors grass using a sprinkler. The soaker hose puts it right on the garden, which is the only thing that needs extra water, I can't remember the last time I watered the grass.
  6. They should have tested all their non-lethal riot gear, that is only emboldening these lowlifes when there is no consequences for their actions. I'd be danged if I would let someone hurl chunks of concrete at me without a response.
  7. I seen some raised garden kits for sale on Craigslist, from a company, and decided to give them a try. Now I see that Home Depot, has the connectors to use with wood. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Oldcastle-7-5-in-x-7-5-in-x-5-5-in-Tan-Brown-Planter-Wall-Block-16202336/206501693 Mine are cement, but the "boards" are kind of fragile, I've already broke a couple. I chose this spot because it's the only decent spot in the yard, sun wise. I use garden fabric to keep the weeds at bay. I still have to weed in between, so I bought a stirrup hoe at the PX for less than $20 which works great for that. Once the tomatoes get taller, I cage them, but next year I'm considering using the yoyo and string method. https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Retractable-Stopper-Support-Hydroponics/dp/B07GNHQQD9 I ran electric fence, not energized yet, for the rabbits and these guys. I ran one last year and it worked good, but my energizer went bad so had to get a new one. Last year we had some dry spells, and the sprinkler wasted too much water, so this year I hot a cheap soaker hose at harbor freight. I ran it in a zigzag pattern because running it down the furrows didn't water evenly. Last year I had a huge hot pepper harvest, so this year I kind of overdid the tomatoes, but I also planted more cucumbers and some sweet potatoes and a few peppers again. I have some asparagus in containers, but need to read up on them, I don't want them taking over the garden.
  8. Hmmm, $600 seems ok to me, though I would not pay it, considering what I've seen/heard others paying. What is the average price, say per acre to lease land here in TN? I think the previous owner should have made arrangements, or at least introductions to the hunter so you guys could work something out. IMO, if he is being a good steward of the property, I would continue leasing, and possibly making him a hunting partner. 150 acres can hold multiple hunters, and as long as they are all respectful and possibly helpful to one another it should make hunting very successful.
  9. I have guns all over my house, I would have a huge problem if they attempted to mandate how I am to keep them at the ready. My kids are now grown, my granddaughter is 12, but all have been exposed to guns and know not to touch a weapon they don't intend to use. I don't allow other kids around my guns, if my granddaughter has a friend over, the weapons are secured so no "accidents". All our friends, with kids, know I have guns and know how I keep them and don't have any issues, even the few that don't own any themselves.
  10. That's interesting, never heard about this and I've spent considerable time in Granby.
  11. The ninth you say, the hell I say. https://verdict.justia.com/2014/12/01/mystery-case-assignment-ninth-circuit These cases need SCOTUS attention, and Trump needs to sit more judges unto the appellate courts as well as two more for the SCOTUS.
  12. I don't know, didn't the feds bring this ACT under the commerce clause? If there is no interstate commerce, then why should the federal law apply? It seems to me that now is a perfect time to start pushing good cases such as this to SCOTUS, before we have more SCOTUS judges die with a DEM POTUS and Senate ready to seat more lefty judges..
  13. Definitely unique carvings, hope you get them back.
  14. I look at it differently; most laws tell you what you can't do, so we get the bit about over 21 to buy from FFL. But, an 18 yo is not prohibited from owning a gun by 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) or by § 39-17-1316. So, an 18 yo may purchase a gun privately and have/carry such gun in a home or vehicle, just not off his premises or on his person in public.
  15. Looks like I finally got two to come to the feeders, hope to get more in. Do any of you put up nests for them as well, or are they just transients.

Then they should have spelled it that way . I love how spelling and pronunciation can contradict like Santa Fe, NM vs Santa Fee, TN.
  17. I got my FAA number for my little drone back when it was "mandatory" and read up on the part 107 rules. That seems rather pricey, almost a pilots license, and not what a hobby flyer should have to deal with. I flew mine on my property, inspecting fence lines, but staying within visual range was dang near impossible. I think they need to control the airspace in some areas such as airports, downtown etc, but flying on private property, at reasonable altitudes, should be totally within hobby rules, whether you have visual or not. Some people have acres of land that due to terrain and vegetation there is no way to stay legal, that should be remedied.
  18. It is failing, no doubt about it, but combating a tyrannical government is it's purpose. As to who decides what is tyrannical, well, that there is a sticky question. As to LE, SCOTUS has already ruled that they have no duty to risk their lives for us, so that definitely puts them in the reactive column.
  19. The 2nd Amendment is just fine as is, but self defense has nothing to do with the 2A. As you said, the right to self defense is inalienable, and applies no matter what, or who. The 2nd Amendment is there to protect us against the Government if it should become tyrannical, so the Government should have no say so on how it applies, whether State or Federal.
  20. I think we need to place a ban on "importing" idiots to DC.
  21. I don't know about the 21 or over part, but there are some states that just honor residential permits, and not the non-resident ones. If a LEO can tell those apart, then these two shouldn't be an issue. https://www.gunstocarry.com/gun-laws-state/tennessee-gun-laws/#tn-map I still don't like it though, seems more of a money grab, more permits, than a pro 2A thing to me. If they truly wanted a pro 2A bill, then constitutional carry would have been what they should have wrnt for. Or at the very least, made vast improvements to the current permit. But as it is, it's less than ideal.
  22. Meh, I like my gps. I know my way around a map, so if an emp gets my phone I'm sure I can manage. I do have a spare, my old phone, and a garmin handheld gps in a faraday pouch. It doesn't need the internet to access the maps, you just don't get the "you are here" dot. It is also great to have a phone/tablet in your possession without anyone being able to access it wirelessly without your consent. I wonder if an emp would reach the satellites and ground equipment simultaneously?
  23. Speaking just for me, no. While I've had training, some civilian, some military, and of course my own drills, and I could have just presented a memo from my commander, I took the required course anyway. I can afford it (and was curious about the course), but I know many that can't, and it is they that I feel are hurt by mandating training and charging a large fee for the permit. I feel if the State imposes any training, for a Right, then they should provide that training free of charge, just like they provide free IDs to vote.
  24. This is only because the "gun culture" has gone by the wayside. How many "accidents" do you think happened before we got all these ridiculous gun laws? When guns are treated like a tool, you will see less and less bad gun handling. In Constitutional Carry States, is there a marked rise in gun "accidents"? I was raised in Colorado, where exposed carry has been around for some time, at least outside Denver proper, and you hardly ever heard of someone getting hurt because of gunfire. Sure, there are idiots everywhere, but I think you see more of them because of who the mystique of gun carry attracts; make it common and they will become the exceptions instead of the rule.
  25. Sorry, but not being "trained" should not keep you from being able to protect yourself out in the street. I agree that anyone should get training, but it should not be mandated. I can train someone to be safe and lethal with a gun, though I hold no civilian certifications, as I am sure many here can. Why should it cost hundreds of dollars, on top of the permit fees, to be able to defend yourself outside of your home? I always hear this same argument, specially from those that teach these courses, which BTW I recommend for those that can afford it to take, but what of those that can barely afford their rent?
