  1. The difference, for me, is that I have no beef with a store that decides to stop selling something, what they stock on their shelves is their business, decides to change their carry policy/rules or what their CEOs personally think or give money to. But when they actively join anti-gun organizations (Walmart and Everytown for Gun Safety), hire lobbyists (Dicks), stop making loans to just gun companies (Bank of America) then they are actively fighting against my 2A rights and do not deserve my support.
  2. Well damn, I usually shop WM for my work meals and coffee supplies. I guess I'll just have to stock up elsewhere. And to think I was about to order some trailer tires from their website. I guess I'll just have to order directly from the 3rd party, or Amazon, though they are a bit more expensive, at least I'll get my money's worth out of prime.
  3. Well, it seems news of their departure was a bit premature. I had at least two back at the feeders this morning, chasing each other all over the yard.
  4. I don't know the name of the type that hang out here, they have a green back, but I think they might of skipped town when the temp dropped. I had two for the longest time, then a very small one, maybe their offspring joined them. Then a more colorful male came in a couple three weeks ago. But after that chilly evening, I haven't seen them. I have fresh feeders out there, just in case but I think their gone.
  5. I'd prefer it if they did the tax free day for gun purchases that day, specially since it's close to Christmas. Didn't they do that once?
  6. I rarely sell or trade guns, can probably count them on one hand, but I don't keep up with where they went after I make the trade or sale. Same as I don't keep track of the vehicles I've owned to see if a drunk killed someone with it. I won't sell or trade any weapons to anyone that I am suspicious of, for my safety as well as others, but just because they do not have an HCP does not automatically disqualify them with me. If there was a way to do a BC with no cost to both parties, I'd use it, Communities such as this can give you a good feel about someone, but that does not mean one of us will not go off the deep end, and BC or HCP will not guarantee that as well. I don't see anyone trying to give us any incentives to use BG checks, or submit ourselves to scrutiny by getting an HCP, more like they want to create more hurdles for the ownership of guns. If they cared, they would exempt anyone with an HCP from having to pay for another BC check everytime we get a new gun. Maybe exempt us from sales tax for the next gun purchase when you voluntarily submit to a BC check on a private sale, shoot, even a free box of ammo or something. But no, they want to put legal restrictions on the folks that are already following the law, which are the only ones that will follow new ones. I can surely guess there will be many that will not do a BG check if/when this becomes mandatory, making criminals out of law abiding citizens.
  7. Not sure I'd agree, if he killed an anti gun bill who would he be done with? I hope most are not single issue voters, but there are enough that are to make a difference. None of the things he has done will win any of the hard left voters, and maybe he will get some of the centrist Dems, and definitely will win votes from those that just couldn't vote for him last time. I mean, who doesn't want a strong economy and low unemployment? He will win no votes implementing universal background checks, but he may lose some, so..which way do you think he will go?
  8. I am not sold on that collar idea, maybe for a hunting dog or something, but for a home pet I would think it would have some drawbacks. If someone steal the dog, then the collar would be the first to go, if lost, then you would have to depend on someone downloading the app, probably replacing the battery, then finding the owner. Some, like me, would go through that trouble, but some will not. Tile https://www.thetileapp.com/en-us/products, kind of works like the collar, but it only shows the last location when the app lost contact with the chip. @bersaguy does the collar work like the tile chip? If it does, maybe that is a cheaper way to achieve the same thing.
  9. Component, and loaded rounds, availability is my worry, sure now you can buy many rounds at or below what you can reload for, but what of later. I have enough components to keep me occupied for years, I have a bunch of lead too, with everything to cast my own, so cost can be reduced quite a bit. If all you do is plink and hunt now and then, then maybe commercial rounds would be better for you, but if you, like me, consider reloading as a hobby as well, well then, the cost is actually secondary.
  10. I'd be GTG here in Clarksville, but I refrain from doing so because of no backstop. If I was elevated I could probably be safe, but most times I see anything I want to dispatch they are level with me, or up in a tree.
  11. Hmm, since it says you can release on your property does that mean I can take them to my hunting area? I have a bunch of pesky squirrels that I would like to get rid of, I have live traps and have caught a few in the past, but was after the opossums. The armadillos have reached my area, but haven't seen sign of them in/around my yard. The empty parcel I had next to me is under construction, so less woods to attract them, but there is still enough for them to check for suitability, I'll do my best to discourage them from taking up residency.
  12. I voted, just in case they are actually listening. But, surveys are skewed, liberals won't respond to this as much as conservatives because it comes from a Conservative group, and vise-versa on the ones from Liberal groups.
  13. A woman that has involved LEO has overcome that particular fear. She does have the option of putting them into storage somewhere, or a family member's, or friend's house.
  14. Possibly, but I bet there are quite a few, like me, that are members of the NRA as well. As it is, the antis are getting hit from all sides in the courts, which may or may not be better than a potential mass voting block voting against anti-2A politicians that historically have not been defeated, specially the ones from blue states.
  15. Red Flag laws have more potential of abuse than actually doing any good IMHO. There are already laws on the books which can apply, is it not illegal to threaten bodily harm, is trespassing not illegal, are not orders of protection not available? The coming to someones house with no prior notice and kicking the door down has more potential for deadly consequences than sending a certified letter or peacefully knocking on the door to serve a notice to appear.
  16. I will give you my bottle opener when you pry it from my cold, drunk hand.
  17. Yea, as most places where a criminal may chose to ambush you can be. And they have the advantage of picking the time and place, so vigilance and staying out of likely ambush areas is key.
  18. I have at least heard of them, but lifetime is 1K, vs $150 for SAF above. NRA was also expensive and they keep coming up with levels to keep asking for money. I don't mind donations, but don't try and hook me with membership levels. Trinkets are a good way to get donations, as GOA has a 50 cal bottle opener that comes with one year membership. Yea, it is not about the trinkets I know, but I'd rather purchase stuff that support a cause than to listen to people trying to scare me with "they are coming for your guns" tactics, I know they are coming, stop wasting money mailing me stuff. Trinkets have the added value to them as free advertising, I have had a few join to get the 50 cal bottle opener. The NRA roundup program is great, wish they would, if legal, do more of that. Rent a car, buy a product etc from a sponsor, get a discount and [insert pro gun group here] gets a donation. Edit, looks like that deal is seasonal, about $5 off:
  19. Yea, just took a picture w/timestamp. I never plan on using the pics, since if confronted it is they that must prove one way or another, but it may make good evidence in a wrongful/malicious prosecution case.
  20. It is shown that a guy with a knife can close in on, and score a hit on a guy with a gun if within 21 or greater feet if the gunman is not paying attention.
  21. I was looking into their current cases: Does the NRA have this many cases they are supporting, I sure hope so? Case Name (click for more info) Description Pursley v. 22. The fact is, for the average gun owner there is really no way to know for sure. Most if not all stripped lowers are sold as other, and not pistol or rifle, so unless the original owner assembled it into a rifle, took and posted pictures of it, with SN showing, then there is no way for the ATF to know either. All my lowers get assembled into pistols first, and documented, just for S&G, even if they will be made into rifles for the remaining time I own them.
  23. Yea, I Duck Duck Goed(DDG) them. I will do a little research and may join them as well. But I seriously have heard precious little about them and what they have and will do to defend the 2A.
  24. Who is SAF? Maybe that says it all, I know there are a bunch out there but if a gun guy hasn't heard of it... I would add TFA into the mix as well, they also do a lot, but mostly here in TN.
  25. I wonder if they took his guns? https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-08-07/garden-grove-killing-multiple-homicides 4 killed and 2 injured in Orange County stabbing attacks By JACLYN COSGROVE, LOUIS SAHAGUN AUG. 7, 2019 9:35 PM Four people are dead and two others injured after a 33-year-old Garden Grove man went on a stabbing spree Wednesday night across Santa Ana and Garden Grove. Police officers with Garden Grove and Santa Ana police departments arrested the suspect at a 7-Eleven in Santa Ana after spotting his silver Mercedes. When the man came outside the convenience store, he had a handgun that he had taken from the store’s security guard and a knife. The man’s name have not been released, and his motive is not currently known. The crimes apparently started as robberies and evolved into a stabbing spree, according to police. Police on Wednesday evening were trying to get the man to explain what unfolded. Authorities said the man and all of his victims are Latino. Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said motive appears to be robbery as well as anger and hate. He did not comment further on the reasons for the attack, but authorities say that there is nothing to indicate this was racially motivated. A Santa Ana police official told the Times that, based on initial information received Wednesday night, authorities believe the suspect was an angry person who took it out on his victims. The mayhem began Wednesday early evening when authorities say the man first stabbed and killed two men at an apartment complex in the 12100 block of Jentges Avenue in Garden Grove. He also attempted to rob a bakery and then proceeded to go to an insurance business and stab a woman, who is expected to survive. Next, about 6:09 p.m., he stabbed a man pumping gas at a Chevron station, almost cutting off the man’s nose. The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive. The suspect then proceeded to kill a man at a nearby Subway and then attacked a security guard at a 7-Eleven across the street, stabbing and killing him before he was found and arrested by police. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
