  1. Already happened, and nobody blinked. https://www.npr.org/2019/08/08/748665339/the-pistol-that-looks-like-a-rifle-the-dayton-shooters-gun
  2. Sure, and I will reiterate, I will use my weapon in all legal means that I can. If laws/rules change then I will reevaluate my need for a rifle caliber pistol.
  3. I still have no problem shouldering mine. I really don't care who happens to be next to me, the current ATF policy states that the use of a weapon does not change what a weapon is. Because a weapon can be fired at an accelerated speed does not make it a machine gun, because a weapon can kaboom does not make it a bomb.
  4. Meh, I shoulder mine all the time. ATF has deemed it is ok, and until they officially change their mind I will keep doing it.
  5. Nope, way too many alternatives.
  6. If you want to call the majority of counties declaring themselves 2A sanctuaries, Sheriffs promising to deputize members of the community, and the incoming administration threatening to use the national guard to enforce anti 2A laws a chicken little event, then yea, I guess we're done here.
  7. Tragedy to be sure, I'm glad first and foremost that only two lives were lost in this incident, but I'm sure danged glad it wasn't a part of some hate group. Seems as we get closer to elections, the crazy hate groups keep raising their ugly heads. I definitely need to get out and practice more, I'm definitely getting slower, 25 meter head shots is what I used to strive for, but now I'd probably opt for body shots.
  8. The thing is, anyone you would be worried about having your address probably already has it.
  9. I hadn't realized they had gone up that much. Mine is basically a safe queen, might have to get it appraised.
  10. I'm thinking he is ordering them in? Most here are around $30, which includes the BG check. I've used TN gun and country, no issues. If he is stationed here, military, then he can buy in TN or KY and just pay for the $10 BG check, a bunch of places to choose from.
  11. All, or at least most, bases are open to the public, all you have to do is show your drivers licence, vehicle registration and proof of insurance. They do, now, perform a quick check based of of the drivers licence but it is far from perfect. Here at Ft Campbell, they are constantly getting drive throughs so the entire base goes on lockdown, I never understood why they don't activate the vehicle interdiction devices.
  12. Getting a gun on post is way too easy, though you do run the risk of being the random vehicle to get searched. And, if going to the range, it is actually allowed. Personally, I wish they would allow normal ccw on post, and storage in your vehicle if the building you happen to need to go in is posted, just like off post. As it is, you are disarmed the moment you head there, which is every weekday for me.
  13. IMO, if that is true, which should be proven quite easily, the lawsuit should go through and they should be made to pay for it. The process should not be rigged, for, or against guilt. So when a prosecutor presents perjured testimony or causes a witness to perjure themselves, they should get disbarred and jailed.
  14. Only those that don't own guns, duh. We can play what-if back and forth all day, and 'facts' can be how ever they choose to write the report/story left/right etc. There is valid reason to think drugs and crime are linked, the 'facts' are right there in Colorado, Seattle, San Fran etc. There is a great story I seen on youtube about Seattle, where my son just moved to (Redmond, but close enough). It goes into great detail on what we are discussing, legalized drugs, refusing to prosecute etc. Long, but worth it. Facebook if that is your thing.
  15. Knowingly breaking the law, as absurd as it may be, and not staying under the radar is just stupid. I'm sure they could find something on most of us, so why give them the opportunity to look? I am in the pot legalisation corner, not because I smoke it, or want to, but because I see it as no different that alcohol, actually better. But, if I choose to puff on some, in Colorado where I grew up and often visit, I know the risks I would be taking, so I'd have nobody to blame but me if I were to lose my security clearance, job, guns, etc. I would not blame LE for enforcing the law, or my boss for enforcing the rules, it's the law. I go at least 5 to 7 over the speed limit in most places, and even when I see LEO on the side of the road, feeling that since I'm usually going slower than the rest I'll be ok. But if he decides to pull me over and write me up, I've accepted that risk, and while I may feel he should have pulled over the guy that blew past us, I can't say I'm innocent. In his case, him knowing he is a person of interest, for a murder, he only has himself to blame. Do I feel that a pot bust is stupid, you bet, but it doesn't make him innocent. As to the weapons, or any personal property, I think he should be given the opportunity to dispose of them, using a third party. The government has no right to take personal property unless in the case of drug pushers or other illicit business which used those funds to acquire the property. And even then, it should take a conviction and a court order to confiscate it permanently. If the case is thrown out, or if evidence doesn't prove illicit funds were used to purchase it, then it should be returned immediately to them.
  16. 6061 aluminum, so not much, but they will last a few rounds, just not as good as SS or at least 7075 aluminium. If they do ever pass the HPA, I'd try them out, but for a Form-1, I'd stick with SS, I'd hate to have to send in a home-made silencer out to a SOT in just a few rounds.
  17. Seen these links elsewhere, the first IMO is too close, I'd have an approved Form-1 first, the second is more in keeping with other offerings. Keeping these in a SHTF bag, or in the off chance that the Hearing Protection Act gets some legs might not be a bad idea. The first link would be a great Form-1 starter set. https://www.benryhome.com/product/spiral-1-2-28-or-5-8-24-car-fuel-filter-single-core-alloy-for-napa-4003-wix-24003-6/ https://wowautopart.com/products/wowautopart-1-2-28-5-8-24-aluminum-fuel-trap-solvent-filter-for-napa-4003-wix-24003
  18. Another plus to always having one in the chamber. Every maintenance procedure starts with clearing your weapon, and always start that on step one, even if you feel you've performed it previously. Good on you for reminding us of what can happen when you don't. As to the SDs , vs NDs, I've always been very careful about holstering my gun, but it made me even more so when this story came out, then this news report added additional things to look for. https://www.itstactical.com/warcom/firearms/safety-warning-worn-leather-holsters-can-cause-accidental-discharges/ https://youtu.be/FrJMQupYxaw
  19. Yea, heard the same and came to the same conclusion. So either he knew his round count or just got "lucky". Unless of course it was a figure of speech, meaning the last round he fired, not the last in the gun.
  20. I would think so, especially if it leads to a larger gun theft group, which may be a possibility.
  21. Yea maybe, but if it's anything like their pole saw it will be an oregon chain. Edit: Weird, but it looks like it is stamped "Made in USA"

    Registration

I never worry about a knock on the door, it's when it gets checked, rightly or wrongly, in transit to the range, do to another incident, or just a LEO not knowing the difference between SBR and pistol.

    Registration

Lowers are going for Sub $50 in many places, so it's not hard to stay legal. If ever given only one choice, choose pistol, you can always go back and forth then.
