  1. Which brings up a good point, how good are these tests? Are the tests even a thing? I mean, 24 hour turn-around for some places? Hell, how long have you guys waited for CWD testing results?
  2. Good for her, mine is a mix, blindly voting for these libs all the while complaining about the policies. smh.
  3. Yea, I was "screened" when I went in but had to ask if mask was mandatory, but could have probably just went in without it as I had already past the screening desk when I asked.
  4. How old is older? I'm 55, and just today wore a mask for the first time (all of 20 minutes or so), because it was mandatory in a VA facility. I am not worried in the least about this, I think much of this has been too politicized and that makes me even more skeptical about the whole thing.
  5. Dang, you sure are a serious about getting them big ones in the boat.
  6. I started three years ago, first year, nothing. I had the bottle type and they kept leaking, so only the ants got fed. I switched last year to the bowl type and two showed up, with a third (baby) showing up later. Now I have two that have homesteaded, possibly the same two as last year. One is easy to recognize as it stands and eats while the other hovers there while it feeds. Don't know what type they are as I can't see much color on them but my granddaughter and I like to look at them fly around nonetheless.
  7. Only to replace a commercial tube with a milspec one.
  8. Removing the buffer tube was beyond the 10 level maintenance in the Army, buffer spring and buffer yes, tube NO. I did, once, that little freaking spring shot out of there and I couldn't find it. Had to get a new one from the armorer...yea, cost me a 6-pack.
  9. Well, that leaves me out, I've not worn one yet. I was going to when I went to attempt to get a haircut, when they finally opened, but it was just for active duty at the time. Not that I don't take precautions, but wearing anything not rated for this is senseless to me, and since I'm not sick, it doesn't help others either. There is nobody in my household more susceptible than any other healthy person so not worried about that, and I don't socialize with anyone who is either. I'm not stupid, I'm not going around licking toilet seats or even shopping cart handles, but I'm also not doing more than washing my hands properly a bit more often than usual. I think it's actually worse wearing masks and gloves, with people constantly having to adjust the darn things with their potentially contaminated hands, gloved or not. I do think it's serious, but not to the level everyone seems to make it out to be. And now that the riots have once again brought out out all the masses, any progress the forced quarantine may of had, if any, is out the window.
  10. If the numbers don't spike significantly in a week or two, that will demolish the entire case for the Covid Shutdown.
  11. And here I thought the torx and hex wrench kits I got from Harbor freight were the bomb.
  12. Unfortunately shooting them, or my nemesis the carpenter bees, would draw too much attention...hmm, a silenced bee load??? Anyway, been zapping them with one of those electric fly swatters, kind of fun stalking and hunting them down but I just can't keep up with them, I have a newish deck and it's like ringing the dinner bell for them.
  13. Dang guys, hate to hear all this, but glad everyone seems to of made it through unharmed. Here in Clarksville we had some strong winds but nothing as bad as all that, just a short downpour then steady drizzle for a couple hours. Hope the next one isn't as bad for everyone.
  14. Yup, seen it happen on live pd a couple times. If it was me I'd wait until ths k9 was restrained before going in.
  15. I'm right handed but left eye dominant. As a kid, I was not taught to shoot, just naturally took to it. I shoot left handed with long guns and bow, but I just can't get used to a left handed rifle so cocking the rifle for a follow-up shot is a bit unorthodox. I use my right hand, which leaves my trigger hand to support the rifle, to operate the bolt, but it had never caused any issues. Until basic training, they asked all left handed people to raise their hands and issued each left handed person a brass deflector. At the range, the hot brass was sticking to my arm and the Drill Instructor got mad because I didn't raise my hand. Still got 38 out of 40, and that was due to a double feed. The problem some people have, is that whatever eye is more aligned to the sights initially tries to focus on the target, but then after just a split second, the dominant eye takes over trying to focus and shifts the sight picture ever so slightly, which is more magnified the further the target is. At about that time, is when you are squeezing the trigger, so your shot is off. Like it was said above, knowing is half the battle, then you can adapt by either switching hands, or by moving the correct eye behind the sights, whichever is more comfortable for you.
  16. I believe you're talking about a different kind of legwork. If you stand hunt, you have to do your homework (legwork), to find a good place to setup. I don't (haven't done it seriously) bear hunt but I'd imagine it's more difficult finding one of them than it is to find a deer. With dogs, as long as there are bears in the vicinity, they will find them for you, even though it may wear your soles out.
  17. Yea, but if I use the check to pay my taxes with it, I won't need to reach out of pocket for it this time around. They are sure to adjust my taxes next year, as someone will need to start paying into the black hole that is our deficit.
  18. I plan on just sending it back to Uncle Sam, since they may just tax me for it later I may as well just pay my taxes with it now.
  19. Mine got into Tupperware. I have been courted for many a "business" which I have turned down when I realized that the business model was nothing more than a pyramid scheme. Any deal which has you making money off the people you bring in is destined to lose you money in the end.
  20. I've not noticed any issues on the final product really, and my old one was much looser. The measurements you take takes the upward movement into account, but yea, most anything with moving parts will have some give. Maybe a RCBS Rock Chucker?
  21. I like the Lee Turret press, once you set your dies, they are set. Changing calibers is super easy and fast, and can be used as a single stage, my prefered method, or having it index from die to die automatically. The new press is high enough for most rifle calibers, which is why I upgraded from the originals press, but it is also much sturdier IMO, and can handle even cartridge conversion like 300BLK or .277 WLV.
  22. No, that would just be another typical flu season. I'll give you this though, these numbers are on top of the flu numbers, so yea many deaths. Only time will tell, but once this is over, like H1N1, these deaths will be lost in memory next year. I mean, I lived through the whole H1N1 timeframe and can't recall all those deaths, how can I forget that over 12,000 people died that year...oh yea, it wasn't repeated on every news, radio, and print 24/7.
  23. I would agree if this had happened during the H1N1, or heck any of the others. There will always be a "new" virus, mother nature is out to get us.
  24. I would like to go on record to say that I am in the "this is total BS" camp. I don't know why this has been spun so out of proportion, and all over the world at that. Sure, I know this is a dangerous virus, and that it has been killing folks, but it is still not rising to the Flu numbers or the H1N1, and this happens every dang year. There is NEVER a rush to get TP or other supplies each year, so what makes this one so special? My guess is that the MSM, worldwide apparently, and TPTB have decided a crisis was due, and this was as good as any. I am not saying that you should not take precautions, especially if you are in one of the high risk categories, but nothing more than your standard precautions should be more than adequate. Flu: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm 2019-2020 390,000 – 710,000 Hospitalizations 23,000 – 59,000 Deaths in the US H1N1: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/2009-h1n1-pandemic.html Since they found it in 09' (2009 through 2018) https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-resources/burden-of-h1n1.html 936,000 Hospitalizations 75,000 Deaths in the US COVID-19 (as of 4pm Yesterday) https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html Total cases: 44,183 Total deaths: 544 Jurisdictions reporting cases: 54 (50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and US Virgin Islands)
  25. Hope this finds you feeling better, but it may help others who are freaking out about this to know how you have been dealing with this and what symptoms you developed. I'll understand if you choose not to, but thought I'd ask. I posted this elsewhere but it thought i'd share here as well: Back around Christmas time my son and I got real sick, after attending a small gathering of friends. A few others got sick as well, with only one testing positive for the flu. I was tested twice for the flu and both times it came back negative, but it kept me home for a week, and the cough lasted for weeks afterward. A few others were worse off than us, they actually developed pneumonia from it. Since a similar bug was actually going around about that time, I am now wondering if it was this virus. I wonder if they can test for it this far from actually being sick to see if that is what it was?
