  1. Thats what happens when they keep K9s on patrol, they keep them on the lawn and away from the doors.
  2. If they were smart they would use it as a reason to allow CC, but we all know antis aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer.
  3. All these gimmicky rounds only succeed in separating you from your money.  I once fell for it, but lately I just stick to any decent hollow point round such as the gold dots already mentioned.  In an SD situation, I am not really worried about  over-penetration, just putting steel on target.  It has already been shown that you need at least enough penetration to reach the vitals no matter at what angle it takes to get there, FBI uses 12", and it needs to do permanent damage.  Many hollow point accomplish that without fanfare.  Also I have enough SD rounds that I never need to buy anymore.
  4. For anyone still looking for a large genny: http://clarksville.craigslist.org/for/4724601485.html  This one will power your neighborhood!  Ok, maybe just a few houses.   :woohoo:
  5. The fact that you CAN shoulder the brace does not mean it is FOR the shoulder.  You can shoulder the buffer tube of a pistol with no brace, that does not make it a rifle.  So you are good with the brace since the ATF has deemed it as NOT a rifle with one on.   Edit: speeling
  6. Just go to walmart and get an ugly stick with reel, season is about over so they may not have many selections but maybe.  Then get a panfish kit, it will have most of what you need to get started.  Get the regs, and make sure you check to see if your fishing hole has any specific regs for it; many have signs posted if there is specific limits and such.
  7. I don't know, didn't seem that the church was under any duress, beside a few scratches, I would think it would at least have broken windows or even a kicked in door.  No, I think that maybe he has something to do with Terminus or the people inside it.
  8. I got one used for about $20, it looked almost new, which should of been my first clue.  I used it maybe two or three times for some spots my rider just wont get to, but even though my weedeater kills my back every time I use it I will stick with it vs the reel mower.  It cuts, but it does have its issues; first, many times it knocks the grass down instead of cutting it and it won't cut right up against anything, wall, swing set etc.  It also doesn't keep spinning for long, which is needed to pull the grass into the blades.  I think you would be better off using a regular motorized push mower, which is also good exercise but does a better job.
  9. I have one of each, one I purchased as a whole a S&W M&P 15 in 5.56, two I purchased as a complete uppers (two different brands), and two  PSA lowers one rifle and one pistol both in 300Blk, and a frankengun in 300Blk.  Since I don't plan on selling any of them, I am not concerned about resale and since they are all shooters I don't see any big difference in them except price.
  10. I am not worried this will become an epidemic,  but I don't like the way they try and sugarcoat this.  The fact that it has been shown that a sneeze sends out mucus and it travels a great distance should not be overlooked or made light of.  And the fact that the virus can live in said fluid for quite awhile should be looked upon as a great risk to anyone that comes in contact with it.  Since the nurses somehow caught the virus even though they knew what they were dealing with and at least had some PPE it should bring to light the great risk it brings to the unknowing public.
  11. Lately dumba$$s have taken to shine lasers at sporting events, one at a football game and another at a hockey game.  Pretty soon we we will be needed to register these things.
  12. That's pretty much my stance, I started bow hunting to extend my hunting time because being in the military you don't always have the luxury of being home during the short rifle season.  Same reason I got a BP rifle, more hunting time.  I too got a crossbow, but this is because every once in awhile my shoulder gives me issues and I can't draw my bow all to well.  On my small parcel (8 acres) there are a couple places to hunt, one a good place for a bow or rifle, another that a crossbow is almost required due to the neighbors house being in the line of fire and the branches being too tight for a full draw;  Due to the terrain its hard to clear a good path there so I stick to using a crossbow.
  13. I personally don't care whose money I am drawing from, I paid into it and therefore going to draw from it; period.  If it happens that I am the generation that gets screwed, well then so be it.  I am too damn old (49) to be worrying about what happened in 37' and am far too sure that this "tax" will never go away whether they give some back or not.  And I don't see myself or anyone that that has paid into it as a leech, a leech is one that draws from it but has not paid into it.  While standing in line to get a copy of my SS card I seen so many young people complaining to the clerks about why their SS benefits have been stopped or reduced and I think WTF, they are not old enough to have paid into it for long, and they seem able bodied enough to work so why are they here??  How is a drug addict drawing benefits?  What classifies some of these people as disabled?  It goes on and on, THOSE I would classify as leeches!
  14. What would be the purpose of that? If I understand it right, there is no ban on these and they would be worth more as originals which is why they are marked as reproductions on a hidden area of the receiver. In any case, I looked at some original M1s and they are not that much, so at this price I would rather have an original than a repro. On gunbroker an Auto Ordanance repro M1 only goes for $660 so I think they can and should be priced more inline with these.
  15. I have mixed feeling about this. First, I agree that ANYONE that finds a dog running around should secure the dog if possible and try and find the owner. Some dogs are very street smart and avoid traffic and are very well behaved around wild animals and such but many are not. I feel its best to secure the dog as long as it can be done safely and its not on its own property than to let it run wild and either get run over or shot due to it chasing deer or cattle. Though I would not shoot a dog for it, just not in me, I know many will if they see them running game on their property. My neighbors dogs would bug the heck out of me by running around my property while I has on my stand, even confronting me in front of my small sleep trailer sometimes. I would just chase them away since I knew where they came from but would of not thought twice about shooting one if they charged me but I never seen them chasing anything and they have since been adopted out. I would just offer a "reward" (not his fee)to the guy for his trouble and let it go at that.
  16. What is the longest you have had frozen meat stored? What method did you use and what results, taste, texture etc, did you have? This "experiment" was not anything planned, it just happened to be a period where I was not allowed to hunt for a year and I had meat left over during that time frame. Usually it only lasts the year, and both methods I use seem to work fine for that. I was just reading an article about meat storage and linked to the government food safety page which listed 12 months for beef steaks so it started me wondering what some of your experiences were. I have also seen new products with additives to keep food fresh so any info on that would be great as well. The longest I have had deer meat is three years, I first used saran wrap then freezer paper making sure I took all the air out. I also used a vacuum sealer for the same deer(s). They both stored real well for the first year, no freezer burn or ice crystals; taste was not affected at all. The second year, there was a bit of ice crystals in the saran/freezer paper meat while no noticeable difference in the vacuum sealed meat; taste was not noticeably affected. The third year, the saran/freezer paper wrapped meat had many ice crystals, some freezer burn and though you could still eat it, the taste was affected a bit. The vacuum sealed meat had some ice crystals forming in the areas where air was trapped inside (stew meat) with a bit of freezer burn in the same areas. Not as bad as the other meat but there was a bit of a taste difference with the ones that had developed air pockets; the ones that had sealed out all the air (steaks and ground) didn't seem to be affected much. Though I feel that the meat was edible beyond the year, I would not recommend doing it past two if you can help it. I posted this here due to this being about deer, but I suppose it can be relevant in the Survival and Preparedness forum.
  17. Ouch!  I like them, but not that much.  If they cut the price in half I would consider getting a paratrooper model.
  18. I have used bipods, monopods, bags, slings, braced against a tree and shooting sticks.  Anything to steady the rifle will work as long as you are comfortable enough to squeeze the trigger when you need to.  While stalking, I just use a cheap stick such as this one except mine is either a winchester or allen brand:  http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mossy-Oak-61-Adjustable-Shooting-Stick/15435849   Though its not as expensive as other brands I think its good for the price.  I use it as a walking/snake stick as well as a spiderweb stick, which is how I started using a stick in the first place.  I would always pickup a stick to knock the webs away while going through the woods, one day a doe showed itself and I used the stick to steady my rifle.  So when I seen these at walmart I figured heck, why not.
  19. I look at it as OJT and survival of the fittest;  All the bad shots have become zombies.   I keep hearing people say they didn't like the last season.   I didn't think it was all that bad, I especially liked the flowers episode/scene.
  20. I picked up a 500 count box at Cabelas' opening for $24. Can't recall the brand but they were solids not HP, but $24 is a decent price. The 500 hps were just a tad higher, but of course they may be out now. There is no way I will pay extortion prices, I would rather use my 5.56 or .410 for small game before doing that. I may pay an extra $5 or $10 to the guy that stands in line at midnight to get them from Walmart, for his trouble, but not the $65 they try and pass them off for at gunshows.
  21. Yea, dont worry about our military guys; the VA is already preparing a special list...
  22. I have a PSA lower, actually two one a pistol and one a rifle, and they both have no issues whatsoever. I am not one to replace triggers or even send one in to a gunsmith to work on one so a standard trigger works fine for me, but that is one thing that many will replace due to personal preference. If you are one to get new triggers, go with the cheapest lower to use the rest on the trigger.
  23. Mine is a bit big, but it has worked out. It " looked" smaller in my head [emoji4] Right before I cut the windows, I have plexiglass that I slide in channels. I look down a powerline, can see quite a ways.
  24. Yea, I seen the same priced containers and like the idea of them, but the lock is the weak point; Since I am not around they would have plenty of time to cut, grind or even shoot it off. Maybe one of those dug into the side of the hill to hide it from prying eyes, but that would just increase the price. I wish I had one of those, it would make a heck of a man cave!
  25. I considered one of those for out on my hunting area but so far their too expensive for what I need one for.
