interesting video on WWII exploding bullets used by snipers

Good vid, I had heard of these but it was because someone had tried to use a kinetic bullet puller on one and it had gone off. -
I have four bricks, one 550 and one 400, the other two I think are only 200, maybe 300 and a couple of 50 count boxes thrown in. If I find a brick for decent, non-inflated price I get it, but not going out of my way for it. I already had two bricks before the shortage, the other two I happened upon, the last one at the opening of Cabelas in Bowling Green, so I never really felt the shortage. When I did see that it was hard to come by, I switched to 5.56 for target practice which I reload so again, no pressure to get my hands on it. Now when I started with my 300Blk, I did have to search for powder, and when I found it I paid above retail by at least $10 but I only bought one. After that, I just waited until MidSouth got some in for my backorder. Until it gets back to normal, I will continue to use my .22 for squirrel and critters and my 5.56 for plinking.

I just went through this with my Mossberg 635, I just went online seen what it was going for and put it up for around that. I ended up trading it for a GSG-522 and I feel it was a pretty decent trade on both our parts. My Mossberg had less than 10 rounds through it and I had mounted a scope on it, the GSG was pretty stock except it had an after market rail and a couple extra mags. The way I figure, if both parties agree to the worth of the exchange then its all good.

That is a great movie, another worth watching is Gardens of Stone. Older movie which should be available everywhere. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093073/

While it looks good on an old rifle like the M1 garand, I am not a fan for ARs. My M16 had one of those on it, the metal clip on the bottom was noisy as heck so I ditched it and looped the sling through the fixed point and used the buckle to secure it. The adjustable buckle, while easy to operate would sometimes loosen on its own due to the running end pushing up on the lever. If you pry up the two tangs on the side it was possible to run the running end through them but defeats the purpose of the adjusting buckle. Some of the more modern slings are much better since they have taken the deficiencies and fixed them.

I started with white barrels but due to algae changed to blue ones but I do not drain them or do anything special to them for the winter. I am sure ice forms, but its only at the top and have never had it freeze solid.

Welcome to the board. Did some training out there once, didn't know about the no self-serve until after I filled up. Still, wonder what all that is about.

Robert O'Neill (aka Osama Killer) in Maryville, TN tonight (11/6/2014)
Omega replied to runco's topic in General Chat
The reason he stopped all electronic communications is because of leaks that we were tracking him electronically. The same type of leaks that some think have no consequences. -
I looked into fillers, but I looked into them to keep a round from having an SE. Never thought it may have an other purpose, thanks for the heads up.

Driving a taxi in NY of course. -
That will do, I would test it out during the day before you rely on it though. Marking your trail in and out is not a bad idea either, I used to use orange reflective tacks to mark my trails (both in and out). you can see them a ways out and recover them to use again. They make al kinds of marking aids including clips, tape, and tacks with varying pros and cons. I used to use marking tape a lot, but in public areas they tend to get confusing with many trails going everywhere.

I too have enough for what I NEED it for, squirrels, but if I ever run out it won't be the end of the world. I only have three .22s, a 10/22, a Mark III and a Jennings .22 which I used to carry in my fishing boat with shotshells for water snakes. I will probably just get a .410 or 20g, already eyeballin the circuit judge, I can reload that so shortages will be less likely.
-
They do make a reloading kit for .22 but I don't see the need. .22 is a great plinking rounds but when the price per round gets too high its almost as cheap to just use a 5.56 instead. There is even a YouTube vid of someone making their own primer compound out of match heads, works but even in a SHTF or survival situation, I would probably do something else.

I now have a place to shoot so have not tried it, but it does look like a nice setup. I purchased a couple weapons from them when they were in the other store as well as some accessories, decent inventory with decent prices.
-
I've had mine for over 25 years with hundreds of reloads (cast) through it as well as hundreds of factory rounds with no issues. I never had an AD, never had any issues that were the fault of the gun. It was on recall so I sent it back to Glock and they replaced most of it except the receiver and barrel but I never experienced any issues before that and I took it through it paces even dropping it a few times. If you are truly worried, get an after marker barrel for it that has a supported chamber which some say is the source of the issues and gives you that Glock "Smile".

No doubt, but these will put steel on target the same as a billet one piece assembly. If you are wanting a one piece, then yes you are going to pay for the extra machining and extra material; but its money which you don't NEED to spend. While PSA may not be seen as high end, I dare say that their assemblies and those of many other so called low-end companies will get the job done so the comparison stands. I have PSA lowers which I would put up against any lower out there at the range, I don't have an upper, but that's only because I already had other brands before I found PSA but would get one in a heartbeat if I wanted another. Their cold forged barrels are sure tempting and may entertain them for an AR10 build in the future.

Not LE, but do know that roads do get speed limits set as you say, but also for other things that have been studied many times over. The Feds have actually done many studies and have published guidelines for things such as curves, road width and other environmental concerns such as deer crossings. http://safety.fhwa.dot.gov/speedmgt/ref_mats/fhwasa12004/ I don't doubt the fact that they need to get to a scene as soon as they possibly can, but you must also get there safely for it does no good to anyone if you don't arrive. And as JohnC has stated, they could of pulled back and let her slow down to keep her from endangering those around her. Not sure of this PD, but most have a protocol that determines when to get involved in a high speed pursuit and when they are allowed to exceed the speed limit to respond to a call. I hope I am not coming off as that I am defending the drunk, or condemning LE but I feel that it has to be dealt with fairly no matter the crime.

It is when you can get a barreled upper for less: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/barreled-upper-assemblies.html http://www.midwayusa.com/find?dimensionids=17129 http://www.surplusammo.com/300-blk/ etc, etc. Personally, I would rather have the option of replacing a handguard if I get tired of it or damage it somehow. And I am not sold on the looks or keymod feature so there is that too. But I am also a cheapa$$ and look for the cheapest way of getting a build done so this would blow my budget for any build right off the bat.

You're right, the pic looked like there was a seam there.

Looks like a removable "cap" right after the anti-cant device, see the two screws on the side. Seems an extreme way to make sure the rails are on the same plane.

Most roads have had some sort of study to determine safe speeds for that particular road. That is why there are reduced speed signs at curves and single or double center lines in the middle for passing. Most of these speeds can be safely exceeded with a vehicle that is in top mechanical condition but many times the road conditions make it so that one must actually reduce posted speeds. Bald tires, bad shocks, rain, road debris, deer or other animals often cause crashes on roads that are already dangerous; which this road qualified. As for charges, as stated he was not actually involved in the chase. I would agree if he was the actual pursuing officer, but in this case it may just be that he exceeded his skills and the vehicle's capabilities; a tragedy nonetheless.
-
According to reports, the officer was not actively in pursuit. He was on his way to backup the other officer in pursuit. Since this is a one car incident, I suspect he lost control of his car when he exceeded the safe speed limit for the road he was on. Though I too feel she should get prosecuted for the DUI and evasion, his death should not be used as a mitigating factor in sentencing. Edit: speeling

Though I carry nothing in the buttstock, the provided letter should suffice. You can write the ATF for a personal response but IMHO it is a waste of everyone's time to do so since this has been rehashed quite often.
