But what is not taken into account is the numbers of potential victims from underwear, shoe and printer cartridge bombers. Just because our current victim numbers are low does not mean we sit back and wait until we have another incident which adds a few more hundred or thousand to the numbers before we do anything about it. I know there is a fine line between safety/security and freedom, but to dismiss all of what they do would be foolish. I don't have any solutions to this complex situation, but in todays world its wise to be vigilant and quash any threat that we see.

Thats the beauty of it; due to the freedoms we enjoy, you can easily and legally setup a compound to train others for any reason or mission you deem fit. There is very little authorities can do about it unless it crosses into an illegal activity. I watched a video where it showed a school bus riddled with bullets, disconcerting maybe, illegal, no. But that is why we must remain vigilant and keep an eye on activities such as this; not with routine "welfare checks" mind you but a community watch would not be out of the question.

While I think it was listed as satire, I have seen prices going up all over for it. I hate it when some dealers raise their price due to a perceived shortage. Its not even that good of ammo vs standard fmj and you can't even use it for varmint.

Where do you buy your reloading supplies?
Omega replied to enfield's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I picked up a few pounds of IMR's new powder from midsouth to reload my .270 and 5.56. IMR 4451 and 4166. Since its new I am not sure how good it is, but its still available while others are hard to come by: http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/Dept/reloading/smokeless-powder?FilterBy=InstockOnly&CurrentPage=1 -
A simple one is made with a wire hanger and it works great. I sent out three of them as a pay-it-forward on castboolits not too long ago, I sent a complete one and a kit with instructions to make at least one more.

Haven't done one that big, mine usually have a marble instead of a bearing due to ease of finding marbles and since I also use them for zipper pulls they are airport friendly. I have also made bracelets but not too many.

I dont know, milk and bread while not required for survival are an essential start of many a meal. Kids with their cereal, pancakes, french toast, sandwiches, and grill cheese. Feeding the kids and most of the adults here is easy as long as we have a gallon of whole milk and at least one whole loaf of bread. If push comes to shove of course we can go awhile with out, but its not that king of storm.

As a former parachute rigger I used plenty of 550 cord, still have plenty of od green but have purchased a few hundred feet from Lowes in assorted colors. I make a few bracelets and such but like the monkey's fist better, not as a survival item, though they can come in handy for that as well.

What's your favorite trigger guard?
Omega replied to rugerla1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Same here, never gave the guard much thought. Even in extreme cold I never needed a larger one since I either ungloved or used a set of lightweight flight gloves to shoot. Got to admit though, some look better than others but I won't buy them. -
No, military members retain their residency from wherever they have their home of record but the JAG part was for losing his FL privileges; for the permit part Lisa would be a good call. Military members pay state taxes (if any)from wherever their home state is and can retain their drivers license from their home state and many states will extend their expiration dates almost indefinitely. They CAN get a license from the state that they are based at and are considered residents for most state things like gun permits, college tuition and vehicle registration. The state can't force them to change their license but some do have things like that two things must match, drivers license, car plates and insurance. I have almost always got a drivers license from where I was stationed so it did not apply to me, but many of my guys had permits and some had out of state drivers licenses.
-
Check with your JAG office, but you dont change your home of record if you get a TN drivers license. And you should be able to apply for a TN permit even with a FL license.

Umm, maybe I'm a bit dense but what exactly is all the dry firing for? In basic, we would put a coin balanced on the barrel to teach us not to pull but squeeze the trigger. Reseting was part of the drill and it didn't take that long to learn the drill so pulling the charging wasn't that bad. Just how much does one of these cost?

I own one case guage and thats for my 300Blk. Since I am forming my own cases the guage makes sure the shoulder was formed properly. For just reloading, I have the lee trimmer guage which takes care of the length portion, and I only use that after a few reloads. I don't worry about the rest of the measurements since I full length size all my cases. Though case gages can be handy, they are not totally necessary. A good set of calipers can measure most of the critical points.

What's the deal with TN Firearms Association?
Omega replied to ron86654's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Think of it this way, if you lived in an apartment complex (business) that prohibited firearms in their building and parking lot, the rent is such that you can not afford to live anywhere else or incur a longer commute (gas, time), higher rent (less food) etc. You now have the choice of providing for your family or provide for their safety. That business has no right to do that legal or otherwise, why should other businesses be any different? You can feebly argue that someone can just live or work elsewhere but for some there is no choice but the two I listed...ok maybe there are others like hiring body guards but lets not get too complicated. A business should not be able to dictate what is in someone's personal vehicles, and they should be totally responsible for their customers and workers safety if they don't allow carrying within their building. A customer may very well have an option to not patronize an establishment that is posted, but your workers may not have that choice. -
+1 for the 3 die set, I have only started using an fcd when I started reloading for my 300Blk and even there its a light crimp I use. The seating die will usually give you enough of a crimp to give good neck tention.

Great meeting everyone, and good putting faces to (screen) names. We definitely need to do this again down the road.

Well, if someone can aim a telescope to where some of the space junk that was left behind we would have an answer. I think they also left a mirror out there to do tests with which bounce lasers back at us.

What's the deal with TN Firearms Association?
Omega replied to ron86654's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I have to respectfully disagree with you on the parking lot issue. Businesses have a right to keep their business gun free if they so choose, but the parking lot? I don't buy it! By making your workers not able to store their weapons in their vehicle you are effectively disarming them for the majority of their lives. Many workers spend more time at or in route to/from work than at home, and many run errands before or after work. If you or your business really cared for the safety and welfare of your workers you would support this bill. If they were to be talking about private residences then I could see the issue since nobody HAS to visit. And what about the customers? Are they also subject to arrest if a gun is locked away in their car? Is the parking lot posted? -
Your right, I must of had other things in my cart when I tried it last. That at least makes it a little better, but the shipping still gets you unless you get one of those free shipping codes.
-
According to FedEx and UPS: http://www.fedex.com/us/freight/rulestariff/prohibited_articles.html, http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/packaging/guidelines/firearms.html only licensed people may ship even though it is not totally consistent with ATF rules. I would call the center and or write corporate and send a link to the ATF site to see if they can/will change their policy.

The only reason I don't is the hazmat fee, that goes for primers and powder as well. I never buy in bulk so it would be hard to make up the hazmat and shipping. Keep an eye out for them at Wal-Mart, just went looking for .44 mags (none) but they had .357s. Also these guys have some: https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/Dept/Ammunition/Centerfire-Pistol/357-Mag but again, unless you pickup, you have to buy in bulk to make the hazmat and shipping worth it.

SB0207 / HB0240 No Background Check for HCP Holders
Omega replied to Mike A's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Why pick one over an other? I say any bill which strengthens or supports the 2A should be submitted and passed. Now, if you were talking about the finance committee deciding between bills I could see your point since $$ will be lost for the state and deciding how much and which bill would support the 2A more (bigger impact for the $$). For our part (voters), we need to contact our reps and let them know where we stand on the issues and let them know our disappointment when a bill does not pass; specially at the voting booth. If enough representatives get voted out because of the lack of support for the 2A, then the word will get out to the next in line and they will act accordingly during their term. -
Yea, I think you need to take your situation into consideration. I hunt in the middle of a TVA right of way and can see and be seen clearly from any direction a hunter may be hunting outside or inside my property. When I am in the treeline I put on my orange cap, it will be the first thing anyone looking will see. Though you never know, it would make no difference IMO if I was wearing it or not, if I get hit it would most likely be from someone shooting at game silhouetted on a hill with me somewhere behind it. I think if your name is on the deed you are exempt, I have seen some properties have multiple names on it. But if I had anyone hunting around me, I would don my hat at the very least family or not; its situational.
