  1. If only, they taste good and make good belts.
  2. Which model of gerber, maybe we can exchange a great quality leatherman for a lowly gerber or two and I'll even throw in the bag of chips.     With some companies I refuse to do business with them due to their political leaning. Such as companies with anti-gun policies, but there are times when you can't avoid them or you already have their products. I personally never heard of them being anti-gun but, besides the ones I already own, I dont see me getting another one so it doesn't matter if they are or not.
  3. I have carried various multi-tools and have quite a few on hand still as most have a great warranty.  The one that has been my EDC is the Gerber Legend: http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-08239-MP800-Legend-Multitool/dp/B000051WSH It just has the best all around features of the rest of my multi-tools.  It has user replaceable hacksaw blade, and wire cutters (3 surfaces before replacement), needle nose which I use more than flat nose, and a blade and scissors accessible from the closed position.  The only thing that would make this tool better is if it had the geared jaws like my SOG http://www.sogknives.com/type/multi-tools/powerlock-eod-2-0-v-cutter-black-oxide.html.  I now prefer Gerber vs leatherman due to breaking a few of them (replaced under warranty) but they have improved their tool over time so they are not too bad now.  Whatever one you get make sure that the grip does not close all the way when the plier portion closes or you will be pinched, and for comfort its better that the opening be to the inside while using the pliers.
  4. I think a good prosecutor can argue the point that a thief with a gun should warrant an extra charge no matter where the gun was acquired.  The only thing that can't be charged is premeditation, if an injury or death occurs during the B&E, if he got the gun from the house. That is unless it can be proven that he had foreknowledge that the gun was there.

    damn skunks...

Crossbow?  Seems just the ticket for this critter.
  6. The only reason I even use it is to post pictures without having to host them on a picture hosting site.  Would hosting pictures on this server put this site over its bandwidth?
  7. Depends on what you consider cheap.  Try tire shops, though many are made of zinc and steel I still get a few pounds out of tire weights.  Check around for sail boats that are being salvaged, the keel is usually made of decent lead or lead alloy.  Go on cast boolits and check around many are selling at $1 a lb if you want to buy it.
  8. Yup, they're not that hard to make.  Many YouTube vids on how-to for different type lanyards.
  9. I would, I had way too much algea in the barrels even after using pool shock to try and keep it at bay.  The blue ones I have now seem to be doing much better, though they still get some and need a bit of shock too.
  10. I carry with factory, and reloads both cast and jacketed, what ever I have left over after I go shooting.  I have never heard any prosecutor bringing up what type ammo was used, only if it was justified or not.  Besides, my reloads are no deadlier than factory ammo and would think most non-reloaders would find reloads inferior to factory.
  11. I see things like this; if an unknown person forcibly comes into my house he is not there for a picnic.  And I know full well that if I am armed and we get into an altercation from me trying to remove him then that weapon can be used on me even if he does not have one, so I shoot, and I shoot until he leaves or stops moving.    I don't think some of these "experts" should be stating anything with certainty.  There are so many variables that only the person involved can determine if he or she feel their life is in danger.  If someone is trying to kick my door in, and if they persist after I let them know I am home then its game on, I have no issue with putting one through the door.  When I was stationed at Ft Bragg, NC., I lived in a shady part of Fayetteville, I had a dog stolen from my front yard and made a report.  While there the officer noticed I had a shotgun and asked if it was for home defense.  I informed him that it was for my wife while I was gone, he said that in NC you had a duty to retreat.  I told him that my door was between my bedroom and my kids so there would be no retreat, he said that was no issue with him or anyone of the guys he knew.
  12. Just plant sweat corn in its place, it shouldn't have that much of a head start.
  13. Anyone see this? http://www.kvue.com/story/news/nation/2015/05/15/defense-bill-will-allow-concealed-carry-on-military-posts/27390053/   Apparently someone is thinking rationally in Washington, but good luck getting some of these Base Commanders to allow it.
  14. That only applies to Nashville, and that's only in metro.  Here in Clarksville there is no code for firing weapons in the city limits, only a noise ordinance that covers it as a noise.  In this instance, it could not register more than 80 decibels (its an impulse sound) at the complainants residence, or property.  But first there has to be a complainant, then they would have to measure the decibels...most LEOs won't bother, specially when its to dispatch an injured deer.  The restrictions as far as distance from road or residence comes from TWRA hunting regs, and those may or may not apply seeing as this is not hunting though I am sure Jereme Odom will see it as such.   Ordinance 10-2012-13   "Sec. 10-224(3) - Standards. (a) No person shall cause, suffer, allow or permit sound from any source which is in excess of the following standards when measured from, at, or within the real property boundary, leased premises, or otherwise lawfully occupied premises of any complainant, (excluding any public premise as defined above), and outside the real property boundary or leased premises from which the noise emanates: (1) Residential use.   a. When the offending sound emanates from a residential use between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., sound which has an A-weighted sound pressure level of 70 dB(A), or impulsive sound which has an A-weighted sound pressure level of 80 dB(A). b. When the offending sound emanates from a residential use between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., sound which has an A-weighted sound pressure level of 65 dB(A), or impulsive sound which has an A-weighted sound pressure level of 80 dB(A)."
  15. I would like to see some of his techniques at faster speed, some of those look  a bit awkward.  I was taught a few like this, and they always said that the gun would most likely discharge so be prepared to get hit.  The thing was to try and make it a graze vs direct hit, in a couple of those someone would of lost a finger or two at the very least.
  16. Most religious texts include some form of that "Golden Rule", including the Koran.  But some passages get more traction than others with some people, and many hard core extremists know exactly what passages get their followers rile up.
  17. Bersa, you were there and have all the facts, feelings, and observations so the rest of us are just armchair quarterbacks.  If you are good with it then great, it obviously didn't go anywhere and all is well so don't feel like I or we are saying you did anything wrong in this particular situation.  No need to feel like you should defend your actions in anyway, with me at least.  I think many of us are just looking at it from different standpoints and have inserted our own past experiences into it which would of possibly made this same situation much different.  As with accidents, everything leading up to an incident is like a link in a chain and it just takes one link to make it go sideways in a hurry.
  18. My thing is this, I am willing to let others believe what they want and generally won't go out of my way to disrespect their beliefs.  I won't serve pork to those that don't eat it, will bow my head when appropriate and observe their cultural beliefs when in their land or home.  But once they start attempting to force me, discussion is ok, to believe like they do or try and get other radicals to do me harm then all bets are off.  I never generalize and entire...anything or anyone due to individualizations; nobody is exactly alike no matter what, even if cut from the same cloth.  But with Islamists being such a great number it is fair to say that many of them have enough control of things to be dangerous to us for many generations to come.  While as was said before it took Christians many years to stop killing in the name of religion, I don't see them coming to terms that easily.  Those that wish for peace are just not exerting enough influence on the rest for this to be over soon, as is the case with some of our trouble makers here in the US; rioting and stealing in the name of justice.  And until they control their own in a positive way there will be no peace.
  19. Have you seen this: https://youtu.be/90JNEJj4YOg , there are plenty more from other countries but I'll let you get some of these yourself as it makes me feel dirty looking through these.
  20. I refuse to allow today's political climate dictate my actions.  I will call it as I see it no matter where the chips may fall.  If they be black, white, or my fellow hispanics I will report their behinds even if they could be someone's son.
  21.  For full disclosure I am more agnostic than anything.  While I think I know what you are trying to say, I am not sure your comparison is quite on target to what some of us believe. While I concur that the Koran and the Bible both have some questionable passages, but as far as I know there are not many, if any, churches that preach death to muslims, or any religion.  With Muslims,  there are entire Countries preaching death to the infidels.  If, as they say, most muslims don't feel that way, then why have they not put an end to the behavior which leads us to think of them all as terrorists?  When a Christian or just about any non-muslim goes off the rail and threatens others even their own fellow religious members will condemn their actions right away.  There have been a few that have acted out on their extreme religious views, but they remain on the fringe and in no way represent the proportions that terrorists do with muslims.
  22. Rule of thumb is 21' or 7 yards which ever is easier to guesstimate.  Fortunately most of the bad guys don't read and train so they may be intimidated enough by the presence of a gun not to try their luck.  But we as gun people should all be aware of this and train in ways to counter a knife while drawing a gun.
  23. I am glad it worked out as it did, and it may of been just as you surmised.   But those timid hangers on can easily join in if things go bad, group think is what makes some of these situations go wrong.  I hope you are right and this little group thinks twice about getting into a situation like that again, but I know for many it takes a much harsher lesson before they learn.
  24. Thats a bit harsh, we are not talking about some corn fed 3rd grader trying to take your lunch money; This situation could have easily escaladed into a news worthy event.  Mobs of 'kids' have caused many an injury which have been reported across the country.  While I agree that one needs to handle their own problems, there comes a time where CYA and taking care of the next victim come into play.
  25. Can't say I am a fan but still, R.I.P, I am sure he will be missed by many.
