  1. I dont know why they don't program distress codes into the security systems. One code to open normally, another code opens but triggers a silent alarm simultaneously.
  2. Man on the ground can be reengaged if he is not out of the fight.  Many a soldier has learned that shot bad guys can still shoot back.  I have not seen the vid (blocked here) but if he still had the means to engage then she was more than warranted on reengaging her target. Edit: After viewing the two clips I still ascertain that she reengaged a viable threat, good presence of mind not to shut down to think about what just happened.
  3. Count me in the number that keeps his semi.  With rounds being so scarce and expensive, why would I want to make an auto?  Besides, even when I didn't have to pay for it, I can count on my fingers the amount of times I went full auto (in an AR) in 21 years and never in combat.
  4. Yes, that sounds about right.
  5. Ah!  Makes sense then, they are trying to get both to expire on the same year so this way they can match the expiration dates.
  6. Must be new, I got mine in Oct last year and no HCP listed anywhere, it expires in 2020.  My HCP is only good for 3 years, 2018.
  7. Most likely someone knew about the petition site and Walden's plight so put the two together. It may also be likely that the webmaster does not yet know of the petition, either way no reason, unless you disagree, not to sign the petition.
  8. We have black Mexicans, we call them moreno instead of negro (black) for PC reasons so its not just here.  I consider myself American, but when young we called ourselves Chicano; not sure why, it just was.  I guess many blacks are the same way, they don't know why, it just is.
  9. Both links work here at work, and we block all kinds of legit stuff.  Might be something with your browser or provider.  Try copying the shortcut and pasting it into your browser to see if that works.
  10. Seen this on another site, signed it and was about to share here  see if this link works: https://www.change.org/p/federal-energy-regulatory-commission-chairman-norman-c-bey-ferc-do-not-approve-the-gas-compression-station-to-move-into-joelton-tn-and-destroy-walden-s-puddle-a-nonprofit-wildlife-rehabilitation-and-education-center?recruiter=338311239&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
  11. On mine I get leading if my bullet does not seal properly and gas gets around the bullet.  With a proper coating, PC or Ben's Liquid Lube I get no noticeable leading at all even when I push them quite fast. With some of my PC coated bullets the base is exposed and they are rather soft on the hardness scale, not pure but range scrap soft, but then again many FMJs have an exposed base too.  Some have taken to PC the bullets point down (non tumble method) leaving the tip exposed, but I think that's for expansion vs leading but IDK what results they are getting either way from that.
  12. Because it's illegal, and I for one don't post my willingness to knowingly break the law; even if I am. If I am out, my gun is in my vehicle if I'm drinking. I dont go to functions where getting inebriated is the goal, so I have one or two drinks early on then make sure at least an hour or two go by before I drive and therefore regain control of my weapon. If it looks like it will be more than a couple, I give it more time. The chance of something happening is slim, and even slimmer that it happens when I have been drinking. If I am ever in a place I feel a higher chance of something happening, I don't drink.
  13. I'm a bit lost here, I can handle my weapon very well sober, I can handle my liquor well enough, but I don't mix the two. Of course I don't drink to excess either so maybe that's why your point may be lost on me. When I drink more than a beer or two I make it a point to not handle or carry my weapon or drive, even if I feel no effects. Not that I feel I may be unsafe, it's that I don't want to put myself in a position where someone else gets to decide whether I am safe or not.
  14. That mount is great, and if you can get it cheaper even better.  I have mine on a Millet scope mount I found at walmart.  The AR has very light recoil so that mount is sturdy enough, my buddy has the P series mount, his came with the scope, mine didn't so went the cheaper route.    I looked at this software when I got mine, but you had to pay for it then, is it free now?  I use Strelok + to do mine, its very good and can be used with any of my scopes.
  15. I have one on my 16" 300 Blk, its not a bad scope for the price but not in love with the reticle.  I thought it would be less intrusive but those little circles are a bit distracting to me.  Much better to have a simple mildot type reticle which you can calibrate to the 300 Blk.  On the upside, you can pick out those circles quite well and rather quickly, if you know your targets range you can usually put it right in the bulls eye with little effort.    The BDC is over rated IMHO, while its great if you shoot the same exact round combo (if you reload) or same commercial round, but its harder to switch from light to heavy rounds at the range or in the field.  The BDC only has a few reference points, (4 I think) so a 110 grain bullet will not line up if you have the BDC ranged for say a 120 grain or heavier bullet.  With more reference lines, its possible to get closer to a reference line with each weight so without changing settings on the turret.  While some shooters mess with their turrets to get on the bull, I seldom change settings, I instead use hold over (Kentucky windage) to get on target, but that's just me.  I zero at 100 (hunting) or 36/50 yards (HD) and hold over if my target is at a different distance.
  16. While I would not chance that particular scenario, I wouldn't let the fact that I had a beer or two keep me from defending me or mine. I wonder if anyone who was involved in a home invasión (home owner) ever been tested for alcohol and drugs, and been charged if positive? I would think that self defense would trump that charge.
  17. Make it a pistol, with a good sling it is rather stable and if you make it ADA capable with a Sig Brace well, its very stable. That way you can put on whatever barrel size you want.
  18. I went to harbor freight for my trailer tool box, fairly cheap considering the others: http://www.harborfreight.com/35-inch-steel-trailer-tongue-box-66244.html http://www.harborfreight.com/2-34-cu-ft-steel-trailer-tongue-box-60302.html I went with the more expensive one, but with the 20% coupon it was less than $100. More than 4 years and the only thing that didn't hold up is the paint but a quick rattle can paint job will fix that.
  19. Though he's a comedian, an Australian at that, it doesn't make it funny; specially when you consider that many take his statements to heart. But they haven't taken all their "facts" into account: http://johnrlott.blogspot.com/2012/08/some-notes-on-claims-about-australias.html
  20. Looking at some laminated boards that have the skin peeled off, they just have lines of some red glue that were holding it together.  None of the ones I have seen have had an even spread of glue, though it wouldn't hurt to do it that way I suppose. If its going to have edge and corner protectors the skin should stay put either way as long as the glue sets properly.  If you want to use the proper glue you may want to give one of the trailer builders a call, they may just tell you what they use.
  21. +1 for The Captain, she has good clean lead in either range scrap or wheel weight ingots and her prices are right close to $1 a lb.
  22. I looked at those when the aluminum lowers were at their peak in price but decided against them, just not a big fan of them.  Now that many aluminum ones can be had for cheap I can't see an upside to them except maybe perhaps some weight but even that is negligible.  If they were the 80% type then maybe you can list that as a positive but so many aluminum lowers can be had via private sale that even that would not be much of a selling point then considering that aluminum 80% ones are also getting a bit cheaper I would not go for it.
  23. I agree, I don't see it as a bad thing to let others know you would like a place to shoot, hunt, fish etc.  If you have a place and want to offer, then great, otherwise the request goes unfilled.  As for the liability portion, (any legal guys/gals here) would a waiver such as many ranges have you sign: https://www.smartwaiver.com/w/5181a265e56d2/web, be sufficient to release an owner of liability?  I would think so especially since not a commercial prospect; I know there is a waiver for sporting purposes and such which was recommended if leasing land to hunters, I figure it would be ok for some non-commercial range time as well.
  24. While I'm sure you could get both here in Clarksville,  why would you leave Memphis for them where they are both much more available.  I have noticed an uptick lately in shootings here, but when the shooters are identified they are not someone legally allowed to own a gun in the first place. And though a couple of them have domestic, most have been near government housing and "party" related.
