Safe to shoot a .458 bullet out of .45 muzzle loader?
Omega replied to 10-Ring's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Should work, but I would shoot softer lead than what he is shooting out of his 45-70. Either that or resize to within .002 overbore, otherwise getting them seated would be a bear. I am looking to shoot .45 cal bullets out of my .50 with some sabots, Midsouth sells them for different size bullets. Here is one for .45 using a .40 bullet: http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/00072H14540BR/45-Caliber-Crush-Rib-Blue-Sabots-Holds-40-Caliber-Bullets-50-Pack. With the proper sabot and lead bullet combo you can save a good amount over purchased BP bullets. -
is it a good or bad idea to let a 14 year old visit her mom in jail?

Same here Nicky, I wonder if this is a bot? One of the posts has the same question as one of the PMs. If it is a bot, I wonder what the end game is? What does the IP trace to? -
I still have my military cold weather gear. It's a layered system so the colder it is, the more layers I put on. I use a baklava to keep my head and face warm and to keep from fogging up the plexiglass in my hunting stand as well as the glass on my scope. My feet on the other hand, that's another story. I broke my tib/fib and blew out my ankle on a jump into a swamp. After I healed I just can't find a comfortable pair of boots. And they are so expensive I just can't afford to buy pair after pair. They start off comfortable enough, but after an hour or two they start to hurt.

Both, it started leaking through some bolt or nail holes then dripped and connected into what looked like a crack in the wall. I had the same question, spears to the top of the brain pan can at least put some tripping hazards in front of the fence to keep them from getting a good push on the fence.

It was blood, at least according to the talking dead intro.

Seen a doe walking up a hill towards my neighbor's property line, used a bleat to call her back, waited until she presented a clear clean broadside shot, squeezed the trigger, and...well just a pop of the primer. She didn't spook but by the time I replaced the primer she had gone into the brush. Blackhorn strikes again, I may have to get some magnum 209s until I use up this 10oz can of it. Edit for spelling and to add that though it's windy, it is one fine day for hunting. Only seen two deer so far, the one above and one which spooked a few minutes later. I have heard a few shots, including one from my neighbor's side which may of been the spooked one.

I'll be going out Sunday so you all be sure to leave one for me.

I'm with you, my .40 does just fine, I made good use of 9mm in the service and know the value of having just one more round so there is no way I'm carrying less. I don't have a 10mm, but if my .44 mag doesn't kick my 4th point of contact I highly doubt a 10mm will. I don't snub any caliber, there are some I don't own but that's because I haven't come accross a good deal on one yet.

If everything is documented on your end I would not worry about telling him the disposition of it. If they are that interested in tracing it, it may of been involved in something illegal in TX or may be it was found with other items that may of been stolen. Either way I see no issue with telling them what you did with it.

I seen that too, but figured it was the older rifle rounds.

Good thing you posted when you did, I was about to get it so I can also get the Ruger Precision Rifle to mount under It

Count me in that 6.14%, well sort of since they make no mention of reloading consumables so I think it's higher. I bet including reloading sales would skew these numbers quite a bit; I haven't purchased many commercially loaded rounds in some time.

I buy many of my supplies from Midsouth, I pickup, so save on shipping and hazmat, even with taxes they are usually cheaper. And I have been lucky, I have stocked up on powder and primers from them. I usually wait until they have a hazmat item before I order the rest to make it worth it. I only order from Midway when I can't get it elsewhere, their UPS (or FedEx ?)/USPS handoff has made it for much longer ship times.

That was strange... squib like load
Omega replied to 10-Ring's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I use standard shotgun 209 primers, CCI currently, and only one failed to ignite the powder. But the rifle didn't get a thorough cleaning last time because of the fire so that may of effected it a bit. The flash hole may of been a bit clogged or something so I won't put it on the Blackhorn. -

Black powder primers are not recommended for Blackhorn, so it probably was just pushed out by the primer. -
So, I guess I have been warming the planet for over 30 years. And the tradition will continue, these are for my granddaughter. Edit: yes that is the right time on the clock. I had to finish both after dinner. The things we do for our kids.

I found these links a bit ago when I got to thinking about my hybrid holster and gun belt. Galco makes a decent product but they are about $8 each or so, due to being for guns. Some boot products have the same ingredients such as the mink oil and kiwi clear and are a bit cheaper, and for me already on hand. Because we are discussing a hybrid holster you don't have to worry so much about making it too soft, though it may change the rigidity some if you use too much. Mine is also leather lined so I may get the interior Galco product to slick it up some, in the future. http://www.handgunsmag.com/gear-accessories/holsters/care-for-leather-holsters/ http://www.opticsplanet.com/howto/how-to-maintain-a-leather-holster.html

Lowe's and Home Depot carry the kits: http://m.lowes.com/pd/Stanley-National-Hardware-Anti-Sag-Gate-Kit/999911861 They work decently enough, but it's best to repair the gate first. Is there a 4x4 at the hinged end? If not it needs one, and some sort of corner brace to keep it from leaning. Gates are heavy and need a good corner post to keep them from saging in the corners.

Seems TN actually received a bargain when they spent $46k for their new logo: http://gawker.com/5070093/pepsis--new-logo-a-bargain-at-several-hundred-million-dollars I seem to be in the wrong business, and I can run Photoshop and Illustrator well enough to create these works of art. Man, the guns I could buy then.

Confirmed, 300 Blackout WILL run on black powder
Omega replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
BP is not that bad, I've left my ML loaded for over a year and it fired on the first primer. As for using it for 300Blk, besides "just because", why use BP? It's good to know it works and all, but unless you use it in a bolt action wouldn't it dirty up the gas tube too much? Has he cleaned out the silencer to see how much soot it collected? -
I use tapatalk for pictures, and its not blocked here at work like the bucket is.

While this is indeed a problem, I think it goes the other way as well. I have personally seen where a soldier is doing something against regulation/illegal and want to play the PTSD card when caught. And since it is difficult to know when someone is faking it, some actual PTSD guys fall through the same crack that the fakers do and vise versa. I am no doctor but I question the PTSD defense in cases of thievery and violence. Don't get me wrong, I was not the same person I was prior to deployments but nothing over there made me want to injure anyone in a premeditated manner. I can understand getting startled and defending yourself from a perceived danger and all, but some cases are hard for me to understand. Now the drinking, loner mentality and depression I can see, specially considering the things already mentioned about having no one to talk to. Family is great, and they can be a great resource for many and play a very important part in our mental well being. But unless they were active duty, there are just some things that they may not understand. In our community we have quite a few resources to help those with the loneliness and having no one to relate to. Due to our mission set, we can't really just talk to anyone, they may not be able to relate and or be cleared to hear some of the things that some of us need to talk about. Even after I retired, I still had access to our unit Chaplin, our psychiatrist and a slew of guys that were more than willing to spend time with me if needed. I consider myself mentally strong, I compartmentalize and rationalize all the things I seen and did while deployed but I still experienced a few things that I had to sort out. First was the hyper alertness, every loud noise made me want to take evasive action. But mentally I was able to process the fact that I was stateside and that more than likely it was innocuous; but I was and am always evaluating my surroundings. Second, it took me a few years to go hunting again; I just had no desire to kill anything. Heck for awhile I didn't even mess with my guns. I didn't seek out any help because I, for the most part, had it under control. But at least for me it was good to have a safety net if needed, that is why I am always available to sit and talk with anyone that may just need a bit of companionship. And that goes for military or civilian alike, because even though civilians didn't experience bad things in war, there are a lot of things out there just as bad.

Will it be called "Nash Angeles" or "San Franville"??

It appears to be gone now, at least the one I posted. Didn't see your post...I blame it on age.
