  1. I agree, we need to leave it alone for about a thousand years or so...after we nuke it.
  2. Nothing ruled out, but state some planning involved so am sure privately they think so.
  3. I have one or two, and a ballistic helmet or two.  Of course my group of friends include active duty as well so am sure they have access to this equipment.
  4. Well, I am not Christian or Muslim, so can I have an opinion?
  5. Don't run, just backtrack and keep an eye out for it.  Running triggers their chase response, since they are probably well fed they more than likely will not attack.  I grew up in CO and have crossed paths with these a few times, though I was not ever chased, I had one follow me back to my truck once.    There have been reports about big cats out here for some time but were always dismissed.  I bought a welder off a guy out past Cadiz, KY more than 5 years ago and he had big cat tracks all over his back 40.  The game wardens said they could of been something else...I seen them and I know cougar tracks since I have seen a cougar standing in them when they were made back in CO.  Now they have indisputable evidence which they could not hide so they had to get out in front of it.  I don't know why they tried to hide the fact they were out here but now the cougar is out of the bag.
  6. No, keep your bad guy gun sources straight; fast and furious was for the drug cartels; the benghazi gun program is for the terrorists upset middle eastern people.
  7. So, I'm in the market for an electric meat grinder and have been reading up on a few.  These things range in price and power but not necessarily connected.  ATM I am leaning toward the LEM #8 for around $200, but have seen another #8 for around $100 but I think it's not the same power or quality.  So, I'm looking to see what everyone on here is using, how you like it, pros and cons and price etc.   I have a hand cranked one that really does a good job, but it's the one that clamps on to a table and we just replaced the island table with one that's too thick for it.  So I guess it may be time to upgrade.  I have scoured craigslist for one but nothing really comes up, so a used one isn't out of the question.   BTW if this should be in the gear area one of you mods can move it, but I figured hunters would be more likely to have one, so I chose this area.
  8. I would think that would be easy to prove one way or another.  The chain of custody from manufacturer to distributer to FFL can be traced, if the FFL (at the gun show) can't show where these weapons were purchased legally, then there is a problem.  But in all three cases, if a background check WAS conducted, then the issue is with the TBI not the gun show and FFLs.  Once someone legally purchases a gun, what they do with it is their issue and their issue alone, not the gun shop.  Its like holding my Toyota dealership liable for selling me a truck which I then get drunk and run someone over with.
  9. Most of the factory ammo I have seen does not have sealed primers, only NATO rounds have I seen do that.  Its because soldiers can be in any climate, including submerged in H2O.  But most rounds can withstand moisture due to the tight fit of the bullet and primer.   I have to disagree a little bit here, I will put any of my ammo against any factory ammo.  I bet I have fewer QC issues than any factory out there, there have been many reports of faulty ammo from just about every ammo company out there.  And if I ever do make a mistake, at least its my mistake which then I have to deal with the consequences.  I have had factory ammo come with upside down primers, no primers, and damaged brass (box was not damaged); luckily I was at the range when I discovered these rounds and not in an SD situation.   For my SD reloads I measure each charge and check each round to make sure it meets the specifications for that round, I also give my SD ammo a slight crimp to prevent setback and give it better moisture resistance.  My range ammo gets reloaded using a powder measure, and can vary slightly, but no more than .1 or .2 grains.  Now, having said all this, I do not sell my reloads, nor do I give it away, and like you would be reluctant to use anyone else's reloads because I do not know their QC measures.  I have allowed my friends to use my reloads when at the range, but I have let them know that they are reloads and some have even reloaded using my equipment.
  10. I don't know about the pepper spray, within 10 feet I don't know that it would of been able to be used effectively.  Heck, its been shown that a gun is difficult to deploy at that distance.
  11. Use or add one of these, it will slow them down and make sure they know you know they are there. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Swann-Security-Doorstop-Alarm-SWHOM-DOORST-GL/203763842?MERCH=REC-_-PIPHorizontal1_rr-_-100309050-_-203763842-_-N
  12. Good edit, original had me gagging.
  13. We got to play with a few, I had a AK underfolder and a Dragunov with whole cans full of ammo for them. We even came upon one of these: Probably ended up at some Spec Ops HQ or another at Ft Bragg.
  14. I got mine free, they just kept dropping them; Just couldn't bring them home.
  15. Most true Tritium should be vials, not painted on.  That was why I know mine were not Tritium.
  16. Are yours not Tritium?  I had a set I had an issue like that but found they were not actually Tritium but some glow-in-the-dark stuff; Tritium should take years to dim.
  17. Don't worry about reloads (your own) or remanufactured (like Freedom Munitions).  Only worry about the performance of your chosen round.  This has been debated back and forth for some time, and some big names make the argument against.  But the fact is that there has never been a legal case where reloads have been an issue.  If its a justified shooting, its a justified shooting.
  18. I have medical grade super glue in single use packs as part of my 1st Aid Kit, along with steri strips (butterfly closures) and stitching kits.  Quick-clot bandages are also great to keep on hand, they work real well to stop the bleeding from all but the most severe lacerations or arterial bleeds.
  19. They may be on to something, we can implant some trackers our guided munitions can locate, and may be able to sell them some ammo, I hear C-4 makes a good load, say every 5th round or so.
  20. I concur, bunch of nice folks here.  You know though, I haven't met many gun owners that I haven't liked.  Though we don't always agree on everything, I think we all have enough in common to get along.
  21. Well, speaking of NFL and some scholarship recipients they get compensated much better than our military does.  And the equipment they use is much better than it has ever been.  Football has become big business, and many players have to have their helmet taken away to keep them off the field, because they know their paychecks depend on it.
  22. To a point, if you follow at the recommended distance some asshat will cut you off barely leaving enough room to stop if the guy in front happens to brake.
  23. I had to order it, and had to get three bags which will probably last for years.
  24. The problem is that there are quite a few more speedsters out there than slow pokes.  And I'm not talking of those 10 or less MPH over the limit, these guys blow by me at least 10-20 faster than my limit of 5 over.  And many times they will cut me off getting in front of me because it turns out the left is not moving as fast as they thought.
