No Gun Signs Coming Down at Legislative Plaza
Omega replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
:stare: Just makes no sense to me. Most will acknowledge that these signs mean nothing to those that are willing to break the law, why target the law abiding? I thought laws were there to prevent crime, not make criminals. -

Taking away the force of law, leaving only the trespass law in effect. -
Look in the owners manual, depending on the year I think there may be a way to undo that feature. We had one that did that and you could change the behavior such as lights blinking or beeping when the locks were activated, whether it would auto lock/unlock etc.

I don't know about DeKalb country, but here in Montgomery the coyote population has increased quite a bit. It was rare to see or hear them a mere four years ago, now at my place I hear them darn near every night I am out there. All we have to do is look at other places where the coyote population has grown exponentially to see instances of low game and the taking of pets, to know we don't want them to get out of control here.

Gun maker seeks dismissal of lawsuit over Newtown shooting
Omega replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It's cases like this that may eventually end up in front of the SCOTUS bench, so for those that want to throw their vote away by voting third party in the General Election, I feel we will all Reap what You Sow. -
What, they don't allow .22 for racoon anymore? I didn't realize they added the yardage thing, will have to look at the regs again to see what else I missed. As for the idiots, those same idiots are out in the daytime. Baiting is not really my thing, but I have put out feeders (one year, before my food plot took) during the off season and mineral blocks year round. My issue was with the neighbor part, my hunting land is only 8 acres and many deer come through, but it's not very wide. So my neighbors can effectively put my whole hunting spot off limits if they so choose, even with the 250 yards rule.

I highly disagree, unless the weapon is used in committing a crime it should have no bearing on the charge. Now if they wanted to create a higher trespass charge when it involves a weapon, then I might support that, specially considering that you would be put on notice when asked to leave. -
While this worked out well in the end, I don't think this quite falls on one side or another of the one in the pipe argument. Police should be locked and cocked while on duty and while secured except maybe in an armsroom. For us, while carrying it is a personal decision which needs to be made by the individual carrying. I fall into the locked and cocked category, but that's just me and a product of my training and experience.

I have no problem with a business being posted, but it should be a question of tresspassing not merely walking past a sign. To me it's problematic when a place like a mall is not posted at all entrances but a main store such as Sears(example only) is posted only on their outer door. And there are times when doors are blocked open or many people entering so you can't see the sign. I doubt you would be charged for something like that unless you brought yourself or someone else in. And even then, unless you made an issue of it you may just be asked to take out to your vehicle. -
I won't shoot anywhere I can't recover my brass, and many indoor ranges don't allow going forward to recover brass. A few have rakes and brooms available to make it easier to get that forward brass, I can live with that. I also see many that don't allow brass scroungers, again I'm OK with that as long as they don't mind if your neighbor gives you his brass. But to tell you that all brass is theirs when they hit the ground is a bit presumptuous. If they sell you the ammo at a discount, I can see it, otherwise they can pound sand.

Most hunting regs make sense to me, there are a few that do not though. Hunting at night, for coyotes and other nocturnal species should be allowed. You don't see any issues with hunting coons and opossums around here, why are coyotes any different? The whole baiting issue is another one, you are allowed to plant plots, put out salt blocks (non food based), and hunt around other food sources such as farm fields and fruit trees but can't hunt over a feeder. And the distance to a feeder has never been addressed. Having a neighbor put up a feeder can theoretically make your place illegal to hunt.

A question for any experienced reloaders

Good call, you should of recovered everything so no loss. Much better losing a little time than a gun, fingers or worse. -

Just pull them; what benefit will you get by shooting them except to hear them go bang? -
I am surprised by this, that SOG model is a solid performer. The only thing I didn't like is that the wire cutter was not replaceable. I went through some demo courses with mine and that gear really helped me crimp the blasting caps pretty easily. But the gear did have a drawback in that it allowed me to put too much pressure when cutting a wire which it's metal was not meant for and I nicked the cutter. Have you looked into the Leatherman wave or the Gerber I listed in my previous post? The wave is almost as good as my Gerber except that I feel it has too many blades on the outside, two; one serrated and one smooth. It does have one of those serious saws I like though so that's a plus.

On my end I do it to all of them. I will price match with any store that allows it, and will order online and have it delivered to the store on their dime if its an option. As for greedy LGS', I just don't shop there.

I don't think my issue is so much the arrest, its the sending of the Marshalls in to make that arrest. Most bench warrants never get served, that's because most only come up if you are stopped for any other reason and they run your name and it come up. If it happens to be a criminal that may be a danger to the public, then yes they will actively seek them out but for something such as this??

I hope these were not one of us here: http://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2016/2/11/tennessee-poachers-receive-nationwide-lifetime-hunting-ban/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=insider&utm_campaign=0216 I could never understand the mentality of poaching, with as many hunting opportunities and long hunting seasons why would any TN resident resort to poaching and trespassing on private property.

That is why it's up to the parents to shine a little reality into their lives. If parents keep raising their kids without some reality checks it will be a bitter disappointment for most of them when they realize that they actually have to work for their success.

OK, now I know I posted this earlier. I pay around 2k a year so no new purchases for me. I buy from local shops if they are at least close to what I can get them online for if I include shipping and any transfer or hazmat fees. But some shops are well above that for some items so I will order online.

It's to keep from influencing those that vote for those that are winning, just like rainy day football fans that will root for anyone who is winning currently.
