  1. I setup a 50 yard range to shoot my handguns and do any load workups on in a valley surrounded by hills.  I can also zero my rifles at shorter ranges such as 26 yards for my .308, 50 yards for my iron sights for my ARs etc then shoot at 100 yards, hill to hill accross my normal shooting range,  to see where it's hitting.  100 yards or so is probably the max I can safely shoot target, maybe 150 yards or so for game.
  2. I think he is a might late for an April's fool joke,  Oh wait wait, it was supposed to be in a purple font.  If the right to a fair trial was more important than defending yourself they would of made it the 1st or 2nd Amendment instead of the 6th!

I do pay extra attention to my hunting rounds, I figure the game is worth the effort.

    AR 15 Twist

That would work once you get a good load worked up for said rifle, but I mostly stick with 1:7 or 1:8 so it can shoot varied weight bullets on my ARs.  I don't shoot bench so keeping it within a 4" circle is fine for any weapon I may use as an SD weapon.  On my hunting rifles (270 & .308) I try and stick with about 150 grain bullets and they have a 1:12 (I think), the new .277 WLV barrel came with 1:11 and heard it does well with up to 120 grain pills.  I have not yet started making rifle specific loads though, even for my 300BLK I reload for both the 10.5" (1:7) and 16" (1:7) using the same load.  Maybe if I started some long distance shooting or benchrest shooting I would change my methods but haven't got the itch for that yet.
  5. That's a sleeper compartment right? In that rig I would carry my 10.5" barreled 300Blk pistol, you could swing it around, in the cab even, without bumping the muzzle on everything. Heck I might even replace all that padding with Kevlar, or at least some of the lower portions; that back cover would make a great ballistic shield if layered in Kevlar.
  6. #3 is in Crossville, billed as the worlds biggest treehouse.
  7. I seen those, but it requires water pressure to work and I don't want to leave the hose running.  I do have an owl that makes noise when something passes by, but don't know if it's water proof.
  8. That's the exact jig I got, but then I bought a gas block with three set screws.  I hope the drill guide will fit into the actual gas block for the third hole, I plan to drill the first dimple which is most always directly opposite the gas port, and depending on the measurement between the first two may drill the second, then I will use the gas block for the third once I screw in the set screw(s).
  9. Yea, I got the wiring scheme using a security fence which expects rubber soles.  I am spacing the wires only a couple inches apart so the squirrel will have a better chance of touching both wires.   I have a pallet gun, but unfortunately they come when I am not around.  I would love nothing more than to have a few sandwiches out of my garden
  10. So I decided that my dogs just can't keep up with the squirrels; last year I didn't get a single tomato out of my raised garden due to the squirrels, got a bunch of jalapenos though .  So this year, I moved my garden over a bit and planted my vegies and what do you know something, probably a squirrel, was digging around the plants.  Luckily no plants dug up yet, I planted them through weed barrier so it may protect them a bit from digging but not from them just chewing on young tomato's.  Harbor Freight had some coupons in an email which had a 20% off and a free electronic fly swatter, love those too, so I went and go me a solar fence energizer and some supplies at Rural King to put a few strands around the legs of my raised garden, high enough not to zap my dogs but should be enough to give them pesky critters a wakeup call.  Anyone else try this?  I know it won't be like my bug zapper, love that sound, but as long as it works I don't mind the expense of it; and everything is reusable and portable so might have other uses as well.
  11. You don't need wiggle room.  The law states you can confront someone steeling your stuff, the law says you can use physical force against someone stealing your stuff.  The law says you are allowed to defend yourself with lethal force if you believe your life or your family's life is in danger. What wiggle room is needed?  I can definitely state right now that if I see someone stealing my stuff, they will be confronted, I don't rightly care what worth the stuff has, it's mine and only I will decide to dispose of my stuff how I see fit.  I also hope I don't need to take another human life, specially an American Life; but when it comes down to it, I'll bite, pull hair and use a 2x4 to defend myself and yes a firearm too and damn the consequences.  Does that mean a thief's life isn't worth that much to me?  No, it means that the sanctity of my home and property mean that much to me, what a thief's life is worth I will leave that up to the thief; because ultimately he is the one that will choose the direction the confrontation will take.
  12. What kind of maintenance?  Since I use Lee dies if I ever scratch one making it unusable I'll just buy another set.  Having said that, I have heard people lapping their dies, but I never had to, and some of mine are upwards of 30 years old, at least in my possession.  Back when I first started, I would use any darn case I came across as long as it still had life in it, steel, nickel, aluminum, brass I didn't care; and I never noticed any issues on my carbide 9mm or .40 dies.  Now my rifle, I always used brass, only because when I started all I reloaded was my hunting rounds and it was my own once or more fired brass.  Today, I have enough brass that I can be choosy, and I avoid all but brass.
  13. There is also aluminum cases, but they are much lighter in weight as their brass or steel counterparts.  And yes, magnets are your friend.
  14. My sincere condolences, may she Rest In Peace.
  15. Yea, meant John... Get those two confused all the time, used to misspell Janis (Janice) too.
  16. Chest rigs are fine for classes and such, but unless it's a SHTF scenario you will likely never get the chance to get it on before it's over.  And if you are ever in a rifle fight you will need Level IV armor which is heavy and bulky, otherwise the rounds will go right through Level IIIA soft body armor.  It probably won't hurt to carry it though, since it's better to have and not need than the other way around.
  17. More and more internet retailers are including third party vendors, even Walmart has items online that are shipped by others.  I like to use their free pick-up at store feature but it's not available for third party, obviously, which is how I discovered what was going on.  I think they need to be more upfront about this, I don't like being shuffled off to companies which may have policies which I would not agree with.
  18. I haven't chimed in for the simple reason that I never cared for his music or for him.  Not trying to be disrespectful but his music just wasn't in my genre, not that I did not recognize him or his music, just didn't like it.  On the manner of these celebrities deaths though, I really can't drum up any sympathy for the ones that suicide (I even consider overdose the same way), or kill themselves while under the influence.  I understand many think, and they may be right, that drug addiction is a disease; but to me its a disease brought on by their own actions, its not like some cancers or hell even aids in some cases.    I know his cause of death has not been revealed so not lumping him in there with the likes of Janis Joplin, Jim Belushi, David Carradine, or even Robin Williams whom I did like their works but also fall under the no sympathy clause; but at the same time he is just another celebrity that has passed to me.   I sometimes do feel a bit surprised by stories that come out later about some celebrities though, Prince among them, about drug use or other mental problems which they hid from the public.  I know there are many who are battling their own demons, and I wish them well, but even so, I can't feel sympathy for them when they die; I feel that they have enough money to keep themselves out of that lifestyle if they so choose.  Now don't get me wrong, I don't celebrate their passing because the same way that they didn't affect my life while they lived, their death doesn't either;  I do hope they all Rest in Peace.
  19. This brought back memories of when I found out turkeys can fly; I'm not a turkey hunter and had only seen farm turkeys up to the point where I came to Fort Campbell on a training mission from Fort Bragg. We were out in the back 40 doing a patrol when a ruckus erupted and our pointman started blasting away. We expected an ambush by the Opposing Forces (OPFOR), so we began a break in contact movement, I was carrying the M-60 machine gun so laid suppressing fire as the team peeled off one by one . After getting to our pre-designated rally point, we found out that it was a flock of turkeys we disturbed out of the trees and had a good laugh about it, which made the exercise that much better as the OPFOR had never even been close to finding us that night.
  20. What brings a tear to my eye is the fact that the American Public at that time could even begin to look down on these guys.  F'en hippies should of all been sent down to Nam to serve at the evac sights, see if that didn't change their attitudes. And of course we have that American Traitor B****, Fonda...won't even watch Colbert because he had her on...just my way to protest.
  21. Really?  You want to have Obama currency???  That alone wants me to fight it tooth and nail!
  22. Meh, I use plastic and PayPal so not really worked up about who is on what bill.  I have an idea though, how about just letting everyone choose what picture they want on their ebt cards???
  23. Yea, large men among us for sure.  Still good examples to be seen; this make for some good reading: http://www.cmohs.org/
  24. Gold dots expand decently so not a bad SD or hunting round, but they will go through walls so know your backstop.
