  1. Me, I use the block feature to either shorten the thread or to remind me of someone that either ticked me off or was a donkey about something or another. Nobody here has made the list, yet, but on another forum I have a few, one just goes on and on and on taking half the page with drivel so in order to see more posts I just block him, selectively expanding his posts. The others are not to block their posts per se, but to alert me that they have made it known they don't appreciate my posts so I don't rile them up unintentionally.

    Muhammad Ali

First off, props for his support of many causes at least he gave back to the community: Muhammad Ali has supported the following charities: Ali Care Program Andrea Bocelli Foundation Athletes For Hope BeatBullying Buoniconti Fund To Cure Paralysis Celebrity Fight Night Foundation HELP USA Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation Keep Memory Alive Michael J. Fox Foundation Muhammad Ali Center Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center Parkinson Society Maritime Region Project A.L.S. Special Olympics The HollyRod Foundation The Miami Project UNICEF Watering Seeds Organization The thing I'll never understand though, the public gets so worked up over celebrities deaths as if their mother or father had died. We lose men whom helped keep our country safe on a daily basis, some who gave their all in some instances yet they are nothing but a few lines in their local papers. Anyone note the passing of these men?? http://www.cmohs.org/ Hector A. Cafferata Jr. Passes Away April 13, 2016 Hector A. 5. Yea, my employer got the same guidance. We used to get quarterly checks separately from our paychecks, now it's structured differently and comes in with our paychecks and taxed.
  6. I know it sounds bad, but logistically speaking there was no other way. We were moving so fast that we didn't have transportation or enough guards to keep the quantities of weapons found in multiple caches. Since most of the Iraqi military she'd their uniforms there was no way we wanted those weapons left intact for those we left behind us. As it was many hardened armories were raided let alone those in schools and medical facilities.
  7. Ok, it has happened a few times now. I write a post, and in this case I use the preview, then when I think I am done I hit submit topic but the whole thing just disappears. I has happened on chrome on my tablet and now in Internet explorer. Not sure what causes it, one I was posting a new topic, and others I was replying so not sure what they have in common. I am going to copy this one just in case it disappears.
  8. Just seen this story: https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2016/6/2/elephants-cape-buffalo-attack-caught-on-camera/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=insider&utm_campaign=0516 A Cape Buffalo can weigh in at 1300 lbs., and its tossed around like a rag doll. Dang, hate to get an elephant ticked at me!
  9. Not an employee but I've purchased two so far, one a Sequoia, had to be shipped in from out of the area. Joe Heitz (now Wyatt Johnson) had it brought in because I wanted one without the leather and other bells and whistles. The second, my Tacoma was on the lot so no issue, but if you speak to their sales manager I am sure they will get on the computer and get you what you want.
  10. In that case I'd carry a baseball bat bag or gear bag, us fat guys will fit right in.
  11. This thread had a lot of good recommendations.
  12. I seem to remember them offering the NRA backpack as a gift for going lifetime or benefactor awhile back. I almost went with it but I stayed with the lifetime. I do notice they are at the NRA store but more expensive than the Midway one. I wonder if they are both made at the same place?? I ATM don't need to transport my weapons collectively to a range, I just put them in my truck in their own case and park right at the firing line. But on the occasions when I have gone to public ranges, I take my Pelican wheeled case with all my range equipment in it, it works well for me.
  13. Before I knew a thing about casting, alloys, polygonal barrels etc. I fired over 1500 rounds of cast bullets from my Glock 23 with no issues that I noticed. These were purchased .401 bullets and I never measured to check if that is what they actually measured so either I got real lucky or there just isn't much to it. The only difference I did notice is that they bulged the case mouth more than my fmj or hollow points, but they passed the plunk test so I went with it.
  14. Charged with hunting over bait, outcome was loss of my .270 and 1 year of hunting. You would have to see all the photos and hear the entire story to get a feel either way. I realize that it was not vehicle related, it was about perception and the fact that though your activity may be legal, once charged good luck getting a good outcome.
  15. Can only quote my interaction as the rest would be hearsay, but apparently sitting outside a hunting blind trying to check zero is considered hunting even though all hunting gear in the truck including two boxes of shells camo etc, I only had two bullets for the intended purpose. Not to mention he lied about seeing me from the road, a giraffe couldn't see me let alone a human. Oh, and though charged with no blaze orange, he tried to use it as leverage to get me to accept a plea, land owners don't need to so offering to drop the charge was meaningless.
  16. Yea, tell Jereme Odom that, I bet he would say different and the way the courts are if charged you will be convicted.
  17. You know, I've seen this and wondered if it applied to long guns, also how does that jive with hunting regulations/laws. Since one season or another is always open and wildlife guys have full LEO powers I can see some crossover happening. Or have the regulations changed accordingly?
  18. No, can't be that; even the anal IRS let's you submit without physical signature and try and use the non signature as a defense. They just haven't come around to doing it, probably never crossed their minds yet.
  19. Bad day for the military, seems we lost at least 5, 4 others missing at Ft Hood, Rest in Peace Brothers. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/3-Soldiers-Dead-6-Missing-After-Vehicle-Swept-Away-at-Fort-Hood-381710101.html
  20. I too would like to see them taken off the NFA list so prices could get driven down my the market. And I agree that many will not attempt it, but there is really nothing to making your own, in both cost and effectiveness. But many, me included would rather just buy one in the long run they are much better. Eventually manufacturers would make up for any losses, and in fact sell more since then many would get one for each weapon instead of sharing between them and no prolonged wait to get them. so more impulse purchases.
  21. Yea, but many would have to ride it out and are unwilling to take that chance. It would not be an overnight kind of thing either since many who are already into silencers would try and make their own vs buying, and the retailers would be worse off, they would have to wait until the manufacturers dropped their prices and may get stuck with expensive inventory. That being said, everyone would benefit in the long run.
  22. Had no issues myself when I shipped my Rem 700 back for the trigger recall through UPS, just had to take it to the hub not one of the stores. I also shipped a shotgun through Fedex, but went to Nashville's hub for that one. I think the hub is the way most will accept gun related items, even ammo. I shipped some back from Denver, I had to show them their own web page to get them to ship as packaged (labeled ORM D) but it shipped. The problem comes in when trying to ship from individual to individual (in state) or to yourself out of state, though you can legally do it, some won't take it.
  23. These are the kinds of journalism stories that need to be prosecuted, they should not be protected by any freedom of the press. And not because it was a LEO involved, but because they make up facts that they know are lies. When a reporter puts lies into their story, it has the power to incite a social response such as what happened in Ferguson (yes I know it wasn't a news story there). It can also have an impact an whether someone gets prosecuted or not depending on how they slant a SD story. While we were in Iraq, there were many reporters imbedded with some of the units there, most reporters followed the guidelines while others not only reported slanted stories but put the troops in danger. A few of the stories named the units involved and broke down the association of some classified units. There was a constant change to Task Force names just to try and keep it under wraps. But while highly frowned upon, it was a Freedom of the press issue so not many formal complaints were filed, though some reporters would lose access now and then.
  24. I am not a fan though my wife loves hers, I just can't see paying to listen to the radio. I have so much recorded music that I can plug my phone into my truck and listen to hours of music without having to pay to do so. I actually like listening to the free radio stations with all the talk and commentary on my way to work, I get the weather, some local news and traffic reports in my 15 - 20 minutes each way.
  25. Freedom of the press should not be a pass to lie to the public. Outright lies or misleading journalism should be challenged both legally and in the court of public opinion such as is being done here. I can understand left or right leaning stories (reporters are somewhat human), but to be actively deceiving the public with omissions and lies should not be tolerated. To me Freedom of the press should be to let them report the truth, no matter who it's against.
