  1. That would be a 300Blk, albeit a bit shorter range. How so? Did you try to develop a Wildcat yourself or did you just try one that was in early development?
  2. Here is one with my android tablet with chrome, and it allows me to pick a star:
  3. Are you using the "Dark" theme? When I switch to it I get close to what you see though no stars. I clicked on where the 5th star should be and highlighted after: Add: I am on a Win7 box (firewalled) with IE 11.
  4. It does not seem to show up on my android phone using chrome so it may be a browser issue of not seeing it. Ahh, I think on your snippet all you have to do is click a star to rate, since mine don't show the icon, it defaults to the text???
  5. Here is a snippet, IE removes some icons so I am sure there are stars or something next or below the text:
  6. That is the "Rating" as measured by the "Rate this topic" on the top left underneath the title of the post. But it seems only a few of the forums have it enabled. So its not automatic like some other sites that rate by how often the post is read or replied to, it's a user voted rating.
  7. Yes, and a guy at the wildcat site is working on standardizing it along with getting some steel mags as well. Added a link to the post for those interested: http://mdws.forumchitchat.com/post/show_single_post?pid=1292513541&postcount=1&forum=530730 ATM I am only interested in ones that are based off the 5.56 case and barrel only swap needed. Maybe later I may dip my toe into a .308 or 6.8 AR build, but not now.
  8. Never considered those, since they are a legume they will probably be a good crop to rotate with corn as well as they give back to the soil.
  9. Why not go wildcat? I am in the middle of building a .277 Wolverine, it is a 5.56 case cut and necked up slightly to a .277 (think .270 win) bullet. Looks like its doing quite well as a longish distance round with 90 grain bullets. And all you need is a barrel, currently I am going with 18" stainless but waiting on a 10.5" in stainless (for a second one) since it has performed well there too with heavier bullets suppressed. There are other wildcats too, right now they are working on a 6.8 SPC like build, but with modified upper/lower to accept longer OAL.
  10. Maybe, but I had good luck planting corn in such dirt in my area. I too have right-of-ways in my hunting land, a TVA and a gas line. The dirt on the top looked good, not too compacted and rich looking, the one at the bottom about the same. The one at the bottom took corn real well with nothing done on my part except spreading the seed, the one at the top, nada. Did not reach maturity though as it was grazed before stalks produced ears of corn. What I did afterward was to spread some ladino clover, red clover, chicory, essex rape and some wheat. Was great for one season, then the weeds started to take over. So re-tilled, and spread cheap grass seed from rural king ($3 bags not the bulk) and not have huge clover field. I figured since every time I tried to plant grass at home I ended up with a bunch of clover it would do the same there, and it did. To date I haven't had much luck with soy beans even though I tried a couple of times, but either turkeys or some other critter keeps eating the seed. I have a 55gl barrel full of soybean seed though, so will keep trying, a couple of weeks ago I spread some out so we will see what happens.
  11. That and a little lime now and then.
  12. Only if you defer to the ATF's definition, my 10.5" AR is considered a pistol by them, but throw a stock on it and bam, it's a rifle.
  13. Too many unanswered variables to make an informed decision so I'll do this: Long gun ATM I'll pick my 10.5" .300 Blackout, good close-in SD weapon in suppressed or supper. In a pinch can be used at longer ranges. Pistol, I'll stick with my Glock 23, has not failed me yet. While arguably the .40 is not better than the 9mm or the .45, but equal IMO, it makes holes where I want them and the 180 grain Speer Gold Dots will drop any threat as long as I do my job. It's easily concealed, runs like a well oiled machine and you would be hard pressed to find a more dependable gun.
  14. Speaking of going out of business; stopped by Grandpa''s here in Clarksville, first thing I notice are a bunch of customers, then I walk in and 30% off signs everywhere. Seems the owner wants to retire, problem is she gave her workers no notice. Didn't go into the gun area as the store was closing in a few and I needed some hardware, but there may be some deals to be had.
  15. I planted small fruit trees at my place, deer would eat the leaves leaving them bald. I placed 4' welded wire fencing around each tree with no room to jump in and not close enough to the tree for them to eat the leaves, about 2' away from the branches.
  16. Could be his stack, not enough of an expansion chamber. Then again, maybe he is expecting Hollywood quite, is he using subs?
  17. The State can pass that law, but as soon as the Feds start doing it, openly, then I'm sure it's headed to court.
  18. If I read the story correctly, he never took possession of the weapon. And, if he purchased the gun with the intent to give to someone else, that is not a felony per se, only if the next party was a prohibited person and the buyer knew that, then that is a felony. Of course, you can't purchase a weapon for someone else if they are providing the money, say to get an employee discount or something like that, even if the final recipient is not a prohibited person. So to be safe, its best to give a gift certificate or gift card so they can fill out the 4473 themselves. Ain't weapon laws wonderfully easy to understand?
  19. I don't get any lag, but did notice a bit on the dark theme. So maybe it's a setting or something?
  20. I beg to differ, how can you enforce such a law without having a way to confirm if a certain serial number went through the bg process?
  21. I don't mind the politics, as long as it's related to 2A, weapons, CCW, or SD issues etc, it belongs here. The problem is that some don't know how to keep it from getting personal, I'm sure it keeps moderators busy. As this is a post about traffic, I'm not sure there is a correlation with these topics and less (or more) traffic. You can always choose what topics to look at or respond to, but I do feel some just make it too personal; it's just not that serious.
  22. I don't know about anyone else, but I see background checks just like the GCA; gun control. So in my case it's not that I support background checks, it's that I tolerate them. But I am hard pressed to see any other way to keep guns away from criminals. The thing is, background checks, tax stamps, and CCW permits have become a way to put money into the system, otherwise why not make it free? Why a bg check for each purchase vs per person? Why a bg check when you have a CCW, Military, LEO, have a Security Clearance? Why can't you have prohibited weapons without a $200 tax? Does $200 make you less likely to commit heinous acts? No, it's all about control, nothing else.
  23. It's all bs, they ask questions such as "Do you think guns should be kept from criminals and terrorists?", then when the answer is of course Yes, they say we support gun control or whatever bs they want to push. I only support dropping the hammer on criminals and terrorists, and the way to do that is to first identify them and target them, and in the case of terrorists eliminate them. In the case of criminals, tack on an extra few years when they use firearms in a crime.

    Geocaching

I started some time back but have been on a long break lately due to getting bored, many of the caches are just not too imaginative. I do have some hidden though but have let some get archived to open up areas to other cachers.
