  1. I carry a carabiner and a couple lengths of 1" tubular nylon to either repel down or do a prusik climb depending on how high I am.
  2. Stupid is as stupid does. You are too wrapped up on whether the pot should be illegal or not, bottom line is he died for being stupid.
  3. Personally, as long as it's legal, I don't care how others hunt. When I started hunting, we tracked and stalked our deer and didn't even think about tree stands or blinds, now I hunt like they do here. I have my own ethics but won't push them on others so the baiting part doesn't bother me, heck I planted food plots and use mineral blocks to get them to slow down at my place. But again, if they blatantly broke the rules then so be it, slam them.
  4. Yea, I am bored so just clicking around the web. It showed up in the unread content link so I tried going in just to come away with a bloody nose when the door was locked.
  5. Dang, no my bad. Had been reading my email and clicking away and first read the TN one, then the KY one and had been reading the local TN links (http://wate.com/2016/09/15/knoxville-gang-member-sentenced-to-21-years-for-2-home-invasions/) and mistook one for the other. I guess TN just made it in once.
  6. I get the Armed Citizen email from the NRA and in this issue TN made two appearances: http://www.kentucky.com/news/state/article95649622.html http://wate.com/2016/08/23/sevier-county-homeowner-holds-robber-at-gunpoint/ Both home invasion robberies which turned out bad for the perps, (all do in these emails), but goes to show you that you need to be on your toes and have a game plan in mind with all family members knowing what that plan is.
  7. I seen a post about a range and tried to click on it and it said: Sorry, there is a problem You do not have permission to access the Links Directoy. Error code: 2LDAPP/1 I don't need access to that particular forum but was wondering if there were other forums with limited permissions and how to go about getting permissions to any I may be interested in. BTW, if someone doesn't have access to a forum it should not show up in the Unread Content feed.
  8. Congrats, welcome to the club. Only did 21 here, out in 04'. Still miss it sometimes, then I have a beer and get over it
  9. ^^^ I concur, there are some rules that I don't agree with but they are the rules so if you, specially blatantly, break them then they deserve what they get. But...yes, a big but. Due to my encounter with the TWRA I am dubious of the veracity of some of these charges when I read about them. Not any particular story per se, but my faith in these guys (TWRA) being on the up and up has been severely shaken.
  10. So when a LEO next pulls you over we are going to hear about it in the news?
  11. Actually, being in possession of a gun while under the influence, of anything, is illegal. You can disagree whether something should be illegal or not, but that does not change the fact that LEO had a valid reason to make contact. Just like speeding, I know if I speed I can get a ticket and do it anyway, so I don't blame the cop when he pulls me over. I may not agree with the posted speed limits but know it is illegal to break that limit.
  12. You guys need to read the stories in the links. He was seen rolling a blunt, given a pass then he was observed with a gun. That alone with no other facts is enough to make contact. The fact that he was a felon in possession of a gun is probably the reason he did not comply with the LEOs, that and the fact that he MAY of had some mental defect. He could have been a minister or priest under the initial reason for the contact and I would of still supported LEO making contact and reacting in the same way if said minister/priest acted in the same manner. You guys are just making things difficult by trying to make this into something which it is not. Just like the rioters, you guys are picking the wrong case/individual to try and support. There are plenty of cases where LEO is either totally in the wrong, or just made bad choices, this is just not one of those cases.
  13. I actually stopped going to big concerts some time ago, with legal scalpers there is just no way to get them cheap (retail price) unless you buy when they come out and you are lucky to do that. My last concert was the Eagles out in Japan, and believe it or not it was less than $100 (about 20yo) because scalping was illegal there.
  14. Sounds like you can use something like the PEQ-2 we used (up to 15 or 16 by now), they project an IR laser which is only visible with some kind of night vision. But probably will break your budget unless you find a good deal. Why not a night vision scope? Use the goggles to scan the field, flip up and acquire your target with the scope. Here is a decent priced one and gets decent reviews. https://www.amazon.com/Sightmark-Photon-4-6x42S-Digital-Riflescope/dp/B00NZ98OKG/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1475086440&sr=1-1&keywords=sight+mark+photon+digital+NV
  15. It also doesn't say we can't have fully automatic weapons or silencers but they are currently illegal to have unless you pay the $200 Tax. And if I am in possession of one (legally or otherwise), I will not be surprised if a LEO wants to check me out. And if they do, I will not be stupid enough to act in a manner as to get myself shot...just saying. But yes, you are both correct; his past deeds should not have been an issue during the incident since the LEOs had no idea either way before approaching him...that being said, due to his past it is not surprising that he did not want to be caught with a weapon seeing as he was not supposed to have one. So in that light his history has, IMO, everything to do with it.
  16. I reviewed a couple different sets awhile back, they were similar in price and each had its own pluses and minuses.
  17. I see your point as far as equating guns with illegal activity, but in this case they were correct in checking in with him on exactly what he was up to. A legal CCW or open carrying individual sitting in a car waving a gun around should probably also be asked what he is up to if he is acting in a suspicious manner. And of course sitting in a car with an illegal substance doesn't help matters, whether the gun is legal or not. I bet if he would of just acted in a rational manner this incident would not of even made the news, let alone cause riots.
  18. Just business, not personal...now take the gun and leave the cannoli.
  19. Yup, and in one story I read it stated that they seen the pot and gave him a pass until the gun showed up. My thing is this, why was he fondling his gun while smoking pot, and waiting on his kid? Another thing that strikes me is that the biggest protests are for what turn out to be POS individuals. I can see if they got upset at the ones where the individual is clearly innocent of any wrong doing, but these people???
  20. A dollar? He can have the whole wallet. Anyone have a spare set of undies??
  21. Maybe this one was a Hispanic: http://abc13.com/news/active-shooter-situation-on-weslayan-near-bissonnet/1526685/ http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/livecoverage/breaking-news-now/lc-BBwDVJR?ocid=spartandhp
  22. Apparently not, MSMBC did not mention anything about his ethnicity last night on the 10PM (actually closer to 11) news. Even though it had been known since practically the get go. No, there is something going on; may not be a conspiracy per se, but the news media is definitely not being as forthcoming as they should be.
  23. Surprise surprise surprise! http://magafeed.com/burlington-mall-shooter-identified-as-20-year-old-arcan-cetin/ http://magafeed.com/burlington-mall-shooter-arcan-cetin-is-a-hillary-supporter/
  24. Just rinse and oil well after use, my Glock rode in my boat often when in NC, used to get a fine salt coating. A good cleaning and still no rust even after 4 years of that and the other 18 riding in my vehicle.
