  1. My first handgun I carried last year was a HighPoint 380. This year it's a Diamondback Full Size 9mm.  Have shot both at the range many times without a single FTF, FTE or misfire.  Being over 70 I don't really care what people think about me or what I have anymore.
  2. Thanks very much for the suggestions and info, appreciate it. Range time will be next week. Thanks again.
  3. Hi Guys, Just got a DB FS Nine today at a local gun shop.  Will go to the range next week, but just had a few questions for those familiar with this model: 1) Recommendations on brands of 9mm ammo that you found works better than others? 2) Suggestions on an outside belt holster?  Just see a "Fobus S&W M&P 9mm,.40,.45, SD 9 &40, CZ, Diamondback DB FS Nine Evolution Holster" on the Internet. Comments? 3) Where can I get an extra magazine? 4) The way the safety is in the trigger, is there extra danger in carrying with a round in the chamber?  Would appreciate any comments on my new handgun. Thanks, Jim
  4.   My point was to offset several stupid comments, including yours, by some reality facts.
  5.   I'm a retired senior and a vet, who CC around the neighborhood and OC around the house/yard. I put over 400 rounds through my handgun so far at the range with absolutely no problems at all and it is very accurate.  It is a little heavy but I carry it fine as I do not have a red neck beer belly.  It's not as 'pretty' and expensive as you guys handguns, but it is reliable and does the job of protecting my family as it was designed to do. Oh BTW, it's a Hi Point.
  6. My dad was around Subic Bay, Clark field and ManiIa right before the war ended in the Army Air Corp. I wish I had a M1 Garand too. They do cost too much for me also since I'm retired and on a fixed income.
  7. WOW! Really fantastic. I did look at CMP and wish I had the $ for one.
  8. I was at the indoor range at Ashland City today. There's a shop there that sell new and used weapons. I picked up and handled an M1 Garand rifle. I don't remember it being that heavy while carrying one during Army basic training in '62. It was an amazingly accurate rifle at long distances.  It was really neat firing rifle grenades from the Garand at rubber tanks downrange, and the bayonet training.  Just touching this one just brought back some great memories.
  9. My step son, who has a carry permit, was taking a walk a few blocks from the house when a car pulled up not far from him.  I guy got out and walked towards him swinging a bat and demanding his money.  Don't know the words my step son used, but when the perp seen that he had a gun he left in a hurry. Since my wife and I often take walks in the neighborhood, I ordered a gun and got my own carry permit. Better safe then sorry.
  10. Congratulations!  I got my HCP 16 days after taking the class.
  11. New Hi Point 9mm for $129.  http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/7-G00916
  12. I was very anxious when I first started to carry but that feeling is going away.  I did notice that I'm now much more aware of my surroundings and watchful, which is a good thing.
  13.   Nope.  Without a beer belly, all that is needed is a strong belt.   :pleased:
  14. Go for it!  The instructor I had wanted me to use the online application which worked good:  https://apps.tn.gov/handgun/
