  1. It is the law that an officer can disarm you if he feels it is a threat to his safety, but they are given a fairly wide berth as to what that means usually. You could try Michie's unless someone beats me to it with the link.
  2. Just to clarify I didn't quote it "as my authority". I just said Glockmeister shared the same view as I did and what I was always told by instructors I worked with.
  3. Here is where I'm going off of. As well as what I've been told by different people in the training industry. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handgun-carry-self-defense/28593-handgun-carry-liability-insurance.html
  4. Yes but you have to take into account what conditions were like in 1918. The regular flu laid waste to this country every year. The cold, hard facts are that Swine Flu has not shown great resistance to Tamiflu and it has not shown to be any more deadly than the regular flu. It's simply a new strain. You catch it, you feel like crap, you build an immunity. I think it's great that people are being more receptive to basic friggin hygiene, but it is not time for Dustin Hoffman in a moon suit.
  5. You listen to some of these folks and you'll be in jail. You start carrying an ASP around you're way more likely to got caught by campus PD and locked up for having it on your person as a concealed weapon. As Fallguy pointed out it's a defense to having it if you have the certification in it, but a defense means you are in cuffs, in jail, then getting a lawyer, then pleading to the judge and jury why you had it and hoping they understand. It sucks that things work that way, but they do and the internet is a crappy place to get legal advice. You should check your school rules and maybe even talk with campus PD about what they would recommend you carry. You're going to be in alot better position with a Taser or spray though. And take a self-defense class. Krav-Maga or Aikido are great places to start.
  6. Strick, brother, don't buy into the hype man. I work in a hospital in one of the worst areas of town in Memphis. We saw an influx of patients for a little while when the news blew this crap out of proportion, but we aren't hardly seeing any H1N1 patients now and what's even more intriguing...no one is dying. It's crap, it's BS, it's a gimmick to push health care. It is not anywhere near as bad as they are making it out to be.
  7. Well that's an interesting take on that. Hope that works out for you lol
  8. You have an insurance bond that will cover your intentional act? I'd like to see that. Not being a smart ass by any means, but it has long been a held belief by many, especially here in TN, that there is no bond or insurance that will cover you in a self-defense shooting.
  9. I'm religious. I believe in the christian God. I don't take much stock in the intricacies of religion and church though. I try to be a good person and enjoy my life. I think alot of people grasp at straws to prove or disprove something you really can't. I have always viewed God as a father figure. He can guide you (bible), be there to listen (prayer), and comfort you (faith), but it's ultimately up to us what we do with the time we are given on this earth.
  10. "Dangerous to be a Fed." That was cold and menacing the way he delivered that line. I liked it.
  11. I'm ready for the zombies. I got a snakeskin jacket on back order and a Mare's Leg chambered in .357 in lay-away.
  12. If you saw what the state hands down for "required info" you'd be alot more aggravated with the state than the school. The permit class is basically Handguns for Dummies. No more no less. It doesn't sound like it was the BEST class ever taught, but it certainly wasn't the worst.
  13. Maybe the Dad can star in his own reality show now on HBO. "Hide the pickle with Big Bubba J." Somebody is going to jaaaiiilllll. lol
  14. I have been told by my insurance company (State Farm) and every HCP instructor I've ever spoken with that, at least as far as TN is concerned, there is no insurance that will cover an intentional act such as a self-defense shooting.
  15. 1st year for the Range USA shoot. 3rd year for the Minnesota DPMS shoot.
  16. I used to get alot of weird ideas from customers when I worked at the gun shop/range. The old "don't have to load the shotgun, just rack it and they'll run away" was probably the most repeated.
  17. Sure it does. I was nice for years, never got crap. Started being a confident ******* BANG hot wife and a motorcycle.
  18. Mine did too. She started busting out laughing and yelling "THAT'S YOUR MOM!" lol
  19. I may have seen that too late. I apologize...
  20. I hope the ladies here can laugh along with us, because I do NOT want to piss off a bunch of female sharpshooters lol.
