Maybe you need to take everything into context and not pick out your favorite points. You very well could end up in jail for what appears to you to be a legal shoot. Remember the Harold Fish case? It happens all the time. You are picking out parts of my posts and suiting it to make some half-assed argument that I'm in favor of shooting without knowing the facts and that is what is bull****. The fact is there are situations where you may make a mistake and not be charged due to the circumstances. It's just as naive to say you WILL ALWAYS be charged, then it would be to say you WILL NEVER be charged like some people like to think. It boils down to one thing and one thing only, pulling the trigger is a life changing decision and you had better make the right one. I don't know how much more blunt I can be unless I type in caps and use small words.

I got it too. McAfee hasn't caught anything and I'm running spybot now.
-
*head desk* You are completely missing the point. The article was stating YOU WILL GO TO JAIL IF YOU ARE WRONG AND BURN IN HELL FOR ETERNITY! While it is a possibility it is not an absolute. I understand the point of the article and I get what you are saying, even if you don't get my point after I've bluntly stated it about 4 times now.
-
I didn't say you would NEVER be charged. I said you MAY NOT be charged due to the way these types of cases are judged in TN with the reasonable person standard. An example I was given by an LEO/Instructor was there was a case where a guy stumbled upon a man holding a woman by the throat and holding a knife. The guy shot him and killed him. When it was all said and done it turned out that the man was actually the victim. His crazy ex-girlfriend had stabbed him and he was defending himself. The guy was cleared of criminal charges, because most people, including cops, that stumbled upon that scene would have probably shot. He lost the civil suit though obviously. Again, I'm not advocating 3rd party self-defense without knowing all the facts, but that article, as well as you, are trying to deal in absolutes and there are no absolutes in this sort of thing. You may go to jail on a perfectly legal shoot!
-
Again, that's mostly true and I agree if you were unfortunate enough to shoot an undercover officer you are probably going to go to jail. I don't advocate 3rd party self-defense unless you have a very clear understanding of the situation, but the article goes a little far in their analysis of what could happen. The way it was always explained to me is what would a normal, fully functional person think walking upon this scene? If the facts presented to you would leave you to be in fear of your life then in TN you would be justified in using deadly force. Again, is you make a mistake you may not be held criminally liable, but you are probably gonna lose the civil suit.
-
That may be true in some states, but not in Tennessee. While I agree with the article's overall theme, in TN you are judged to a "reasonable person" standard. I.E What would a normal, average person think if they happened upon this situation? You don't have to know EVERYTHING about the situation for it to be a legal shoot, but I imagine you can rest assured you'll be sued if you shoot the wrong person.

Thanks man. I knew about the ear thing. I was told to feed them 2 or 3 small meals as opposed to 1 big meal because of bloat. Sound about right? -

Yup. Good stuff! They seem to be hitting it off pretty quickly. He's getting protective. Last night we found a few fleas on her so we had her in the bath scrubbing her with baby shampoo and my older dog was watching and listening to her whine he got so upset he threw up. My poor kids lol -
I dislike the holidays mainly because I don't get to experience them really anymore. I don't get holidays off unless it falls on my normal day off, my wife is the same way with the exception of Christmas and New Year's Day. Her family does Christmas on Christmas Eve and she can't ever make it because she works. It's honestly just a time of year that, while I'm thankful for what I have, not being able to enjoy the day with family and friends like most people do keepsyou from getting too excited about it.

Yea that won't be a problem. Zeke is neutered and she'll be spayed as soon as she can be. -
Pet owners please read! Hartz products can kill?
Punisher84 replied to Punisher84's topic in General Chat
If you dig into it there have been several news stories and newspaper articles on it. Granted, I'm sure there are situations where somebody blamed the product and it wasn't actually at fault, but still I'm not taking the chance. I'd rather go with a vet recommended product like Frontline or something. -
Had a bit of a crazy weekend. Bought a new puppy, puppy got a few fleas on her. Bathed her, removed them with a comb, etc. She's only 9 weeks so of course we didn't get any drops for her, but worried about my 5 year old dachshund I got him some Hartz Ultra Guard from Kroger. I decided to research their effectiveness when I came across this... HartzVictims.org - One More Victim is One Too Many I read over it and decided to be cautious and scrubbed the hell out of him twice with dog shampoo to remove the drops. Luckily they had only been on him about an hour and hadn't even settled in. It scared the living hell out of me, because like alot of folks, my pets are family. Gonna keep a close eye on him and make sure he does OK tomorrow, if not I'm gonna take him to the vet. I just wanted to pass this on to kinda let everyone make their own decisions on it. I'll be sticking with vet products only from now on though.

Very cool. Way to go everybody. Wished I could have pitched in, but I didn't even find out about this until the other day.

Getting your first dog used to your new puppy?
Punisher84 replied to Punisher84's topic in General Chat
Kinda what I figured. See the puppy was actually raised around mini dachshunds so she was already used to our dog in a way. I think it's only child syndrome lol -
Well folks I finally bit the bullet and got me another hound dog. I had a beagle before and we have had a mini dachshund for 5 years. We kept reading they do better with a companion so we went out and bought an 8 week old Basset hound girl. They are getting along ok, not growling or fighting, but my dachshund doesn't really want to be around her. We aren't playing favorites, play with them at the same time, etc. So is there a secret to it or is it just one of those things that take time? Also any tips from Basset owners on anything would be appreciated! Here's the kids just to show off lol

I like guns, fast cars, motorcycles, whiskey, cigarettes, cleaning my nails with a pocket knife, and going to the theater. Don't like it? Kiss my ass and go back to jerkin off to Field and Stream and telling yourself you're a real man. James Bond beat ass and liked the theater.
-
I've always been told by trainers and LEOs that using the 3 step method is a good start. I.E If you can load your gun in less than 3 steps it can be considered intent to go armed. I think if you have the ammo in a case and then the gun in a separate, locked case inside a range bag I think you'd be OK. Even a really jerky cop would have a tough time pushing that one in court.

I love the music on the show. It always seems to perfectly fit.

Next to last episode and I'll miss it because my bosses switched me to 3rd sift starting tonight. BLARGGGGGGGGGGGG!

The Answer Is *NOT* Thug Tactics
Punisher84 replied to TGO David's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
All you people wonder why we can't accomplish anything and lose rights quicker than the rain forest is losing trees. Petty bickering, name calling, bad attitudes, whining, and snotty shirt sleeves. We need to all start figuring crap out and meeting in the middle or nothing is going to get accomplished. Grow the hell up and let's work together. You guys run off at the mouth about what you're going to do "if" and blah blah blah well I got news for you. Boycotting restaurants will not do a damn thing and neither will nicey nice politicking. We need to start fighting fire with fire and figure out a way to be heard and in a positive manner. I wonder what people who are against us that browse this forum think of us when they read threads like this? I imagine they feel pretty good about their competition being a bunch of half-cocked juveniles. It's a problem all the way up the chain and it needs to get fixed or we can all just hang it up and hope for the best. -
