  1. I'll reply to this in sections... You said he "had no business unholstering your weapon" He actually had plenty of reasons to unholster it. Shooting at a moving vehicle is hard, but it depends on how fast it's going and in what direction and I don't think it was his intent to do a barrel roll and empty a mag into the radiator. I think bringing the weapon to a low ready in case these guys jumped out and attacked them or even continually tried to strike him with the vehicle would be a good initial reaction. You see police do it near suspect's vehicles that are attempting to flee all the time. Well I'm glad you can see every possible event and plan for it, most of us just train for what we will most likely encounter and hope we perform admirably when the time comes. It's not threatening to me in the least because I've trained steadily for several years now between military, private security, and civilian work and life. I've thought about what I'd do and even had to act on that training and those thoughts, luckily I've never had to actually fire at anyone. The initial point of my post was that maybe, instead of sounding like a grumpy old know-it-all and berating the OP who asked for opinions, you might give a sound reasonable answer as to why you feel he acted poorly and back that response up with some real life knowledge. Just my opinion on it.
  2. Well depending on where you work and how big of a mouth you have you probably won't ever run into it. Where I work we have conducted vehicle searches before both on employees and visitors, granted for the second we involve MPD, but it's rare. I worked for FedEX for years and never saw them search a vehicle on the lot.
  3. The more and more I see you post the more certain I am that no one does anything right, but you. Why don't you try answering a questions with a little tact instead of acting like a pompous *******? He had every right in this scenario to at least draw his weapon. If you don't buy it look up the plethora of cases where cops and security personnel have opened fire on vehicles heading at them. You don't someone's intent. No need to be behind the reactionary curve. Well put. You did fine OP.
  4. Ahh that pesky thing again. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
  5. I'd say Range USA. Rangemaster is OK if you're a guy's guy, but that's pretty much what they teach to and that's it. Not real newbie or female friendly. The training at Range USA is really made great by the instructors. There are one or two who are just "training trainers" as in they weren't cops or military so they're textbook I guess, but the main guys that teach regularly are top notch. Chip, Mike, and Dave are good people and great instructors. I've taken the majority of the classes and I loved them.
  6. You will all be in my prayers. So sorry for your loss.
  7. DB is Brian, I'm Stewie. I used to aggravate him to death lol LMAO Roger that OVER
  8. And sometimes when I talk to DB, even though I know what he sounds like it reminds me of this when we used to work together.... YouTube - Family Guy - Over
  9. This is what Fallguy sounds like in my head sometimes...
  10. Um...what? Being on my property uninvited is a crime. It's called Criminal Trespass and maybe in a perfect world bearing a firearm anywhere you damn well please wouldn't be a crime, but in the state of TN there are alot of places where carrying is a crime. I didn't take anything he said as a threat I just think he's got tunnel vision about the 2nd amendment and can't see that there are other rights that are just as important. The 2nd amendment is only important because it gives us a means to protect the others.
  11. OK you're a little more clear this time. If you think you're right to life is is so important you won't go somewhere where you can't carry then I agree. If you think you're right to life is more important than my own rights in my own home, invited or not, then you're out of you're effing mind
  12. May be based on it, but I don't remember doing too much ground grappling in BCT or in the field maunal. I know LAPD teaches BJJ as part of it's course though from what I've heard. I just don't think MMA is very practical for a basic street fighting skill.
  13. Exactly. Either ab can't make a coherent argument or he thinks that he can do whatever he want on anyone's property. That is most certainly NOT the case. If I don't want someone to carry in my home for ANY reason that is my right on my private property. Now, as Fallguy said, a business that is open to the public should be different, but for a person to think that the 2nd Amendment trumps a person's right on their own property is asinine.
  14. So you think you can walk into my house and I have no right to tell you that you cannot have your gun in my home? Your logic is very flawed. I hope your view of your rights doesn't end up costing you your life one day, because I can assure you, if you maintain that you have a right to carry anywhere you damn well please without regard, it will.
  15. Actually you're very wrong. If you read the constitution it is very clear that one right shall not overpower another. The 2nd amendment is no more important than any other. You have NO right to carry on my property or in my home unless I grant you the right to do so because I am the property owner. The intention of the 2nd amendment is that the GOVERNMENT would not limit you're right to carry or possess arms, but your fellow citizen, upon his own property, may very well tell you that you may not carry on his land or in his home. We must never forget that, just because a particular part of the constitution is important to us, there are other parts that are just as important to the idea our founding fathers had.
  16. That's the one! Where do you get that wonderful knowledge?!
  17. I think the AG opinion said something about the circle slash being part of it for visibility. Not sure. I guess you could just post the text, but it does say "clearly visible at every entrance used by the public" so I guess if it was in big, bold print at about 5'10" height at every entrance you could do just text.
  18. If you have the time to devote to a martial art I'd recommend Aikido personally, but I've also dabbled in Judo and Ju-jitsu, and came up doing Tae-Kwon-Do. All are good basic martial arts, but alot of people are into the MMA stuff now. Not that it's bad, but I don't want to grapple with someone. I want to hurt them fast and get away. Now Aikido is nice at work because it's all about control of your opponent and you really only get hurt if you resist it.
  19. Whoa simmer down there 3 post. No the law is still the same as it was. You can carry in a liquor store, grocery store, gas station, etc unless it is a properly posted location with the No Guns circle slash sign and the statute text.
  20. That's the smart way to go and I think that's what Mayor Wharton wants to do.
  21. I agree with that. I'm a Christian as well, but that's really not what gives me pause about taking a life. An often quoted verse around here is the one about a man having no sword should sell his cloak to buy one. I see it like this. I do NOT want to take a life unless I am given no other choice. I don't relish in the thought of having to ever shoot anyone, but I also realize that some day, whether in my line of work or because of where I live, it may become a real possibility so I prepare myself as best you can for it. I have actually met Mas Ayoob and had a conversation with him about his articles and books and what I gathered from that 10-15 minute conversation is pretty much what you asserted above. He wants you to be cautious and think. For that I commend him, it's just at times he can be a bit too much scare factor if you don't read into it or understand his point fully.
  22. Again stop reading Ayoob. He has some good points, but he is WAY over cautious, and the reason for that is to avoid litigation. In TN you do not have to retreat if you are in a place you have a legal right to be. So if you got out of the car to tell the guy to stop and he came at you with the tire iron it's justifiable self-defense.
  23. No offense, but I don't recall any right to booze or drinking in public. I work 3rd shift so I never get to go out and drink. Just food for thought. Have your buddies pick up a 12 pack and go drink at home. Cheaper, safer, do what you want, don't get liquored up and end up coming to see me at 3am after you've wrapped your car around a tree.
