Yea, but an HCP is an actual state issued license to carry a handgun. An impact weapon certification simply says you took a class that taught you how to use it. You're right, but my point has always been that it could happen. It doesn't expire.

I don't know. I always heard something about never bring a coward to a gunfight... I also don't know what you base this on since you don't have any real clue how much/how little training I've had. It's ok...you can stand up for RangeMaster. Maybe they'll start hosting IDPA...well probably not.

Like BigPoppa said the two don't necessarily have to go hand in hand, but more people respond to a friendly/relaxed training environment than a strict no-nonsense ******* attitude, particularly new and female shooters. I don't drink the Tom Givens kool-aid and I think the guy is a decent trainer, but I think he runs a crap shop. His employees are jerks that have run off more people than I can count. Maybe since he, or at least someone claiming to be him, joined the site today he'll take some of this to heart or he'll react like JY and challenge us nay-sayers to a gunfight.

I was always told what Fallguy posted basically. You can carry and drink same as you can drive after having a beer, you just can't be drunk. That being said, I personally would not want to be in the position of having beer on my breath and a dead bad guy at my feet.

It really depends on your wife and what her apprehension is about going and shooting. My wife took awhile to warm up to it. She was fine with guns, but didn't want to shoot or carry. Once I got my permit process started and we began discussing things like crime more often she opened up enough to where I finally bargained her into going shooting with me. Now she has a permit and carries the exact gun you mentioned. I suggest asking her to go with you and make an evening/day date out of it. Take her to lunch or dinner and to the range. Tell her you would feel better if she at least knew how to operate it safely and that you would also like her, as your wife, to be part of your hobby that you enjoy so much. Hope that helps some. Another thing would be to see if you can get her to take a safety class. There are several vendors here who offer top notch training and I'm sure there is one close to you that could help!
