  1. I like these... They have window decals as well. www.readytodefend.com
  2. AC was off and the exhaust system was off/broken when I went in a few weeks ago.
  3. Practically all the good counter employees have left now. I suspect with the loss of quite a few key staff members you'll only see more posts like this. I went in there a couple weeks ago to shoot for the first time since I quit over a year ago, I won't be back. I'll fork over the money for MSSA instead.
  4. I filled out my app this morning for SCSO. Gotta turn it in Friday.
  5. So you do "will not" want him to fight? I'm sorry, I'm confused by your double negative and improper use of a contraction. I'm even more confused by your last "sentence". It's like a word scramble. Ron Ramsey was the best for the job, period.
  6. Damn thing was on back order! I've always been a big fan of notifying. It's just what I prefer to do. Plus, the way I carry, I have to go by my gun to get to my wallet and I don't want to risk a confrontation if an officer sees it. Better safe than sorry.
  7. Taking the class is a good way to learn the laws anyway. If you get a good instructor you'll enjoy the class too.
  8. It really depends on the person. Honestly the best deterrent, with or without a firearm, is to just not look like a victim. Be alert, don't flash cash, etc. However, things will happen so really your best bets are Pepper Spray (good quality like Fox Labs not the grocery store check out line crap), TASER C2 (if legal in your state), and/or good martial arts training. Some people will say an ASP baton, but I think that's poor advice. ASPs take regular training to use effectively and they aren't always legal in alot of places. It's pretty easy to get a 21/26" piece of metal taken away from you if you don't know what you're doing and get beat to death with it. It's also easy to land yourself in trouble if you go overboard with it. IE the guy falls to the ground, but you whack him a few more times for good measure.
  9. I bought one used about 2 years ago. It's a summer carry gun for me and I like it. Not my favorite to shoot at the range, but it's always ran well for me. OS is right, keep it a little bit more lubed up than you would a Glock or XD, but not much.
  10. Like BoRF said, depends on the department, but thanks for lumping all security personnel together! Private security isn't what it used to be. Cops are getting way too busy in metro areas. I read a great article about a year or two ago about private security being on the upswing here because alot of guys getting out of the service couldnt get on a PD for various reasons, so you had quite a few better trained, in shape guys flooding the private security markets. Truth is alot of people will always equate security with wanna be cops or guys that couldn't hack it. These are usually the same people who just don't like being told what to do by anyone and who wouldn't even work Target security
  11. I had it last year. Went to the Cook, got a card with a date, couple months later I went by 201 and sat in a room for about 2 hours, got called to a civil suit case, got dismissed (pit bull bite case, needless to say they did NOT want a hospital security officer with some medical background and friends with pit bulls on the jury lol), court deputy told us "see ya in 10 years". I was done by 130 pm on my first day. Maybe you'll be as lucky!
  12. And they thank you for your support Maybe in whatever small town you're from they'd be right, but in a city like Memphis, if they assumed that, they'd be dead.
  13. It's the "Punisher Hotel" thank you! LOL
  14. Thanks. That'll do Pig. That'll do. (sorry could not resist!) In all seriousness thank you. It's kind of hard for me to lecture people at my job about poor decisions and personal responsibility and then go whine about getting a ticket for rolling a stop sign. Just not the way I was raised. Take your lumps and roll on. I think if more people had that attitude the world would be one hell of alot better place to live. Thanks as well. Like I said I guess I COULD have, I mean cops do the badge flip to get out of tickets so I could name drop, but I view my cop buddies as friends first and foremost. I hate feeling like I'm using people for who they are. Example I'll give you the shirt off my back and the last 20 bucks I've got to buy pants that match, but if you work at McDonald's and I were to ask for a free burger I'd feel guilty all day. Just my personality.
  15. Doesn't have to be in that case necessarily. For example, in TN, you can use deadly force in defense of a 3rd party. So, let's just say the shooter had a reasonable belief that these 2 men would shoot another officer to further escape, so he responded with deadly force. Or let's just use the citizen's arrest statute and say he was trying to arrest them and he was preventing a violent felon from fleeing. I know there may a bit of a double standard for the average citizen, but the guy came to the aid of an officer who had been shot. No one is gonna charge him with s***. Hell, the guy in Mississippi that chased the guy into TN that pulled a gun on his Mom was cleared. Granted the guy fired at him first, but due to the citizen's arrest laws he was cleared.
  16. Way to go! Working on that right now myself. Cutting them both in half thanks to my tax credit check for buying a house. So, since it's tax payer money, thanks for helping me pay my credit cards off guys!!!
  17. BTW the ticket is 44 bucks in case any of you get stop sign jumpy in Memphis lol I was "advised" that if I showed up to court in uniform it would 99.9% likely be dismissed, but I'm gonna pay my aggravation tax and avoid The Great Halls of the Unwashed on a Friday. *shudder*
  18. Exactly and doing what I do and knowing as many cops as I do, I always keep the "what call did he just get off of" thought in my head. Maybe he wrote me that ticket because 2 days ago some kids got killed because someone ran a stop sign. Like I said he was really cool with me. When he brought me the ticket back and asked me if I knew why I got pulled over I told him I honestly didn't. He told me and I said "The one on Lynchburg?" "Yup." "Ah sh**. I'm sorry man. No excuses!" and I laughed and signed the ticket. He chuckled, patted the window, wished me a good day, and rolled off. Laws are laws and if I break one or even bend one and I get a citation, well who can you really blame, but yourself?
  19. Dammit. Wish I had the extra money. I met Mas once, he's a heck of a guy. Should be a fun class.
  20. Exactly. Thanks for your input ggun. Insightful as always Captain Obvious. Did you bother to read my statements or did you just wanna be your typical self? Damn the luck! Nope and I could have dropped plenty or just had the LT make the scene lol In all seriousness though I just don't do that crap. Unless I had really just been treated like crap on a BS stop I'm not gonna make a stink. I rolled a stop sign, the officer was pleasant and professional, and he gave me a citation instead of a break. That's the way the cookie crumbled lol
