  1. The washing machine that came with my house crapped out yesterday on me. So after a fun Thanksgiving of draining water from the damn thing, I decided to just buy a new one. Home Depot had a good deal on a Maytag with free delivery and free haul away of the old one so at least it worked out. I was VERY tempted to have a Clark Griswold style meltdown since this is the 3rd appliance I've had to fix or replace since I bought this house in June, but I thought about it and had a big "I'm thankful" moment. Both the AC and the oven that broke previously were covered under warranty, the washing machine was a great deal and should last for a good while, and I had the money in the bank to buy it without dipping into savings. So while it wasn't a GREAT Thanksgiving, and it's not what I wanted for Christmas, I'm really thankful I was able to handle it. I hope no one takes this the wrong way, just kind of my way of saying "Things could always be worse, so make the best of it."
  2. Emergency Essentials - Be Prepared Emergency Preparedness Food Storage is having an online sale today from 9am-6pm CST with free shipping on an order over 30 dollars. The sneak peak had some cool stuff like a hand crank phone charger for 6 bucks, etc.
  3. And no one even opted out yesterday apparently. No one cares anymore. Welcome to the beginning of the end.
  4. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. CA, good post brother.
  5. Well for the first time in 7 years I'm actually off tomorrow so I'm going to eat, drink, and just RELAX. Hoping to go hunting this weekend, but not sure if KB4NS is gonna be able to go. So unless someone else wants to take me I'll probably catch up on XBOX lol.
  6. It's easy to say that, but it's also easy to say "Don't like it? Get a new job." I'm about as Pro 2A as it gets, but you can't start taking away people's rights to run their business the way they want. I do unarmed security man, in Memphis, at a hospital. I am constantly dealing with most of the same crap Memphis PD does due to our surroundings. I make arrests, chase crackheads and thieves, etc all without a gun. Would I like to be armed? Hell yes. Is it going to happen anytime soon? Nope. Am I going to work to change the minds of my employers? Yep. Am I going to lobby to overturn their rights as private business owners? Nope. I think you need to do a little reading about the founding fathers and read a little bit more of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. You have a choice where you work, where you eat out, etc. In my opinion it is only when we pay for something, as taxpayers, that we should automatically be allowed to carry. A private business should be allowed to set it's own rules on it's employees and customers. You don't have to like it, but it's the way things were intended.
  7. Well as long as it isn't illegal you can only be fired anyway. Not optimal in this economy, but it is what it is. Im for keeping a gun in my personal vehicle, but if an employer doesn't want you to have a gun in their private business that is their right.
  8. Im glad it's a moot point. I wasn't trying to have a measuring contest, and that wasn't even aimed at you, but I certainly invite you to kick in my door and find out how good your training is.
  9. Read the 2 posts before mine. I'm not talking about LBL. I'm well aware of what you said, but thanks for the caps. I'd never have been able to read it otherwise.
  10. +2 Come into my house with a firearm when I don't want you to and see how that works out for you. 2A doesn't trump individual property rights.
  11. North, South Korea exchange fire; 2 marines killed - Yahoo! News Uh oh?
  12. I like Norman Reedus anyway. Come on it's Murphy MacManus! I agree 100% with you. Plus he has the Horton crossbow I like lol
  13. If you're drinking and handling a gun it's stupid. I don't care if 2 or 3 people think that's holier than thou. I love a good drink, hell look at my avatar, but there is a time and place to separate certain activities. I'll even add that I think this type of thread gives a black eye to TGO and gun owners. We spent a year preaching about not drinking and carrying, etc and now someone starts a thread basically asking what he can get away with.
  14. That's cool. I like to fraternize with people who have common sense anyway. Not sure what you do for a living, but I see on a daily basis what stupidity and alcohol mixed together alone accomplish. Add a gun or a vehicle and I don't want to be anyway near unless it's to prevent it.
  15. I haven't ever done it. I've never gotten trashed and taken the motorcycle or car for a spin either. If the OP had said "I went shooting, then had a beer at the end of the day with my friends, then left. Was I ok to carry?" I'd have said IME if you weren't impaired then yeah you're fine. Call it "holier than thou" if you want. I'm not saying the guy should go to jail or anything. I'm just saying I wouldn't be around ANYONE who is drinking and handling firearms.
  16. The only laws that address it are the restaurant carry "cannot consume" law and I believe it says you cannot carry impaired. Impaired doesn't mean .08. If you're stumbling, slurring, or smell like booze you're going to find yourself in trouble I'd wager. Whether you wanted to hear it or not you probably would have been better off not mentioning shooting and drinking. I don't care how few you've had or what your tolerance is, I wouldn't want to be around anyone who is drinking and actively handling a firearm. That's for after the guns are put up. It's really that kind of activity and admission that gives us a bad rep when we try to get laws like restaurant carry passed.
  17. Lol I know brother, freaky ain't it? Yea I know mine were around 50. I guess more or less I just wouldn't use them on someone that was resisting.
  18. Yup I did. In a struggle the metal will slide completely over the plastic trying to get them on. Luckily I noticed it and got them locked properly. Since then I only keep them as a reserve in my bag. Found out it's happened to alot of people since that. Just one of those things that shook my confidence. Sad too because I love the dual side keyholes and flat bow on them.
  19. Janet Neopolitan ice cream or whatever her name is was advocating it, but I don't think it is going to happen.
  20. Ah I got it now he's MPD. Probably talking about his patrol bag backup. I have similar in my work bag. Not my survival kit though.
