Work Warning... Penn & Teller video about gun control
Punisher84 replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
One of the best things I've ever seen! I knew they were pro-gun, I just didn't know they were really intelligent and active pro-gun! Hoorah for them! -
Hey Glocking would your Dad be opposed to us setting up some type of combat course? Provided there are good backstops we could set up some scenario shoots. That'd be fun as all get out.

New Assault Weapons Ban. Listen up!
Punisher84 replied to Punisher84's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm worried enough to toss out an email at least. It probably won't get through, but I hate to get to complacent right now. Especially with folks like Hillary and Osama, I mean Obama running. -
If we can get enough people together to fill up the cost of the lanes on the small side for an hour I can probably talk my boss into letting us have it from like 1-2 on a Sunday. If everyone doesn't show they'd have to open the small side as well, but we'd still be able to shoot together. Let me know how that sounds.

Allright Ladies and Gentleman, grab some pens and paper, Wordpad, a quill pen, a piece of parchment, and a pigeon, whatever, but start writing. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy from NEW YAHK is heading up a new ban. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-1022 No co-sponsors as of yet, but let's make sure she doesn't get any out of Tennessee. There's been talk of TGO as a political organization right? Well let's show some muscle and let the government know what WE THE PEOPLE think for a change. The democrats won the elections mostly which means alot of gun owners HAD to vote for them to give them a chance. Let them know if they wanna stay in office they better do right by us, because we won't stand for it anymore. The line is being drawn, where do you stand?

Brothers who disarmed gunman felt it was their duty
Punisher84 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
They are both tools. Idiots looking for a gunfight. They look thrilled as hell they almost got to shoot someone. Not necessarily a bad article, because it does show citizens who carry can be of help, I wish it had been someone other than the doofus brothers. Oh well take what you can get I guess. -
I think you misunderstand me Archimedes. I'm not talking about people who have other options than the military or simply choose to serve in another way. The people I dislike are the people who think because they buy tactical gear and take tactical training this somehow certifies them as "combat hardened". Training is great and I advise anyone who carries a gun seek professional training on some level. Training can also be alot of fun! Good training should be fun at times. My point is there are those who take training and know who they are and who they were and don't try to be something they aren't. To change the quote just a bit, "The tactical boots don't make the man."
-
Yea, I'll talk to anybody as well. it was fun razzing on you know who lol.

I'm gonna weigh in on this one a bit. First, let's address the simple fact. More guys are into firearms and training than women. The military and police are made up of mainly men. Training schools, ranges, and gun shops are staffed by mainly men. I can't tell you how many times I have seen fellow employees at my range openly discuss the "right gun" for "my wife", right in front of said wife. Look bozo the gun is for her, not for you. She might want a revolver, she might want a 5" Kimber .45. Shut up and let her decide. I am personally quite sick of Rambozos and Tacti-cool ass-hats thinking they know it all. Tell ya what genius, get your finger off the trigger of the gun you got pointed at my chest that you didn't bother to clear after I handed it to you, then we'll talk about the .38 for the little lady that can probably shoot better than you anyway. When training starts becoming more geared toward both sexes more women will sign up. I have actually told men to go away while I talk with their wives and girlfriends at the range, because they just get in the way. Needless to say I have quite a few women sign up for our training. Now as far as training such as Tactical Response, Blackwater, Valhalla, etc I think it serves a purpose, but the line can be blurred. I despise people who take military grade training, buy tactical gear and think they are the real "stuff". No, you're not you're a wannabe who was to scared to sign the dotted line. Exceptions to the rule? Of course, but the majority are trying to be something they aren't. Now, people that take the training for what it is and don't buy into all the tactical crap are usually the folks I like. Sure they might show up in some 5.11 pants and a vest, but underneath they only have a Comp-Tac holster, a gun, and a few extra mags. Maybe a knife and a Surefire. Train with what you will carry. I think further training is fine, but don't come to me acting like you are combat hardened because you took Tactical Response's Fighting pistol course, then went back to your cubicle on Monday. Shed some blood, watch a few of your friends die, and come back home to listen to a bunch of liberals moan about the war, then maybe I'll turn a blind eye to your drop-leg holster and Blackhawk gear.

I am up for anything!

If anyone is interested I might be able to get us some polo shirts made up that say TN Gun Owners Association. Let me find out for sure and you guys let me know if you're interested. if you are I'll get back to you with cost and such.
-
I think starting a chapter for TGO would be good anyway. If not just for getting a public rifle range open, but for legal matters as well. It'd be nice to get a group of us together that could lobby for better gun laws, etc. There is a TN Firearms association, but the more groups the better for all of us. If anyone in or near the Memphis area is interested in something like this pm me. It'd be great to get an organized group of us together for meetings every once in awhile and such.
-
LOL! Yea that was me. I was about to ask you if you were who I thought you were, but I was like this dude will think I'm an idiot if I ask him if he is Glocking Tn lol. Yea that was me, so next time we will know each other. I ended up on the small range because the big side filled up to fast. We'll have to plan the next one out better.
-
Brian, I'll bring you my old ones and you can just have them if you like. They are pretty good. Otherwise we sell some really nice Radians that are adjustable for about 10 bucks. I'll be wearing a black Punisher t-shirt and jeans with a black SSS Tactical ball cap. See you guys there about 1!

Oh I'm on this one like white on rice. The Molon Labe thing is real big for us at Range USA anyhow. I've always loved the story of the battle as well.
-
No such thing as a stupid question Brian. In thought there are a few "somewhat practical" uses for it, but the bad FAR outweighs the good.
-
I'll be up there at some point tomorrow. Maybe I'll see ya'll. I'm about 6'2 and I'll be firing off a full auto at some point lol.
-
Our lead instructor at Range USA is the Lieutenant for the Warrants Division in Jackson,TN and I've asked him what he thought about them. Put it bluntly I think he'd shoot me in the foot if he ever saw me with one lol. They are a bad idea guys. Cops hate them, any respectable trainer hates them, most gun owners hate them. It's way to close to impersonating an officer and that is exactly what a lawyer will say in court. If you want a badge earn it the hard way, don't get it out of a cracker jack box.
-
I see people come through our courses at Range USA and surprise us with something that is "out of the norm" and perform quite well with it. There is a place for basic foundations training and more "tactical" applications shall we say, but there is no place for an instructor who deems a method "stupid". If it is unsafe then that is a different story. I don't know James Yeager personally, but what I hear I don't like. I had considered taking a few of his courses, but my mind was changed after a few conversations. I'll not saying anything negative of him in a public forum, but I won't sing his praises either.
-
Guy was reholstering his gun in a shoulder rig and shot himself. I'm sure I've seen you saintsfanbrian because I go shoot with my friends sometimes on Sunday. I'll be there Friday db.
-
Hey any of you guys that frequent Range USA introduce yourselves if you see me. I'm Charles I'm there wed,fri mornings, and sat nights. I may know some of you anyway lol.
-
If everyone here who wants to shoot at Range USA on a sunday can send me a pm, I can get a list going and if we can get enough people together I can talk to my boss and see if renting the small range out for about 2 hours would be ok. We just need to decide on a date and see if there is enough people. If not we could just meet up and shoot.
-
What kind of training are you taking? Will it be very physical?
-
Yea Memphis is a hell-hole, but I live here too lol. Range USA is supposed to be sponsoring a machine gun shoot for charity this summer sometime. When I get the details I'll let you guys know.
