I stumbled upon this and have not posted here in a good while, but maybe some of the older folks will remember me. Anyhow despite what the Rep. wrote I have had to dig into this myself and asked a friend who is a Lt. on the sheriff's dept. and a handgun permit instructor his findings. He states that he spoke with one of the members who drafted the new defense law and that with the legal terminology "notwithstanding"-Pronunciation: (not"wi&thslash;-stan'ding, -with-), [key] —prep. in spite of; without being opposed or prevented by: Notwithstanding a brilliant defense, he was found guilty. She went to the game anyway, doctor's orders notwithstanding. —conj. in spite of the fact that; although: It was the same material, notwithstanding the texture seemed different. —adv. nevertheless; anyway; yet: We were invited notwithstanding. That you are no longer afforded protection under 39-17-1322. It's saying despite what 39-17-1322 says, if you are acting illegally you are acting illegally, not despite 39-11-611 as Fallguy had mentioned. I was really hoping for Fallguy's answer to be the end all, but it seems there is still debate. Anyone else have similar confusion?

It took 6 weeks for mine. Lo and behold I got my permit and my new credit card in the same day. Now being a gun owner and having a new carry permit and a fresh credit card can you guess what i did? Ahh debt....

Bullet-Proof Backpacks...?
Punisher84 replied to molonlabetn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I think it's a good idea. Nobody else has any answers and the government won't do anything to protect the kids. I think it's good initiative on their part. Good for them. Not everybody needs a vest day to day, but if someone came up to you and said "Today you will be shot in the chest at 3pm. This vest will stop it if you wear it." You'd probably throw that mother on just in case. -
I didn't think you even had to go up there. You can do all that by mail now.

Ladies and Gentlemen - GUNS ARE NOT TOYS (of any type)

Still dark enough to where if someone is running at me and not stopping they are either getting something broke, pepper sprayed, or drawn down on. Rabbi, in a way I understand your criticism as you seem to never jump the gun, but you do play devil's advocate far to well. You stated you did not have enough to facts to judge either way, yet you repeatedly judged. You attempted to make amends at the end by saying you didn't have all the facts, but yet you are still judging someone else's actions. I won't sit here and say GOOD JOB BRAVO! because it may not have been the necessary thing to do, but he did what he felt was necessary and the situation ended up fine. Don't be so negative. Rabbi's are supposed to be optimistic.

I won't even say "for the money", from what I've shot with it, seen, and heard about it, it's just a really good gun.

Seen it before...it's still great

Really great video. I got a vid of some of my buddies setting their boots on fire and running...motor pool, boredom, and flammable substances don't usually mix well lol.

A few of my faves; 1. Marlboro Man- "Where'd you get that hogleg?" Harley- "Denver. This here is a Ruger Super Blackhawk with 454 conversion. It's what I learned with." Marlboro Man- "Nobody learns with a converted 454!" Harley- "I did." Marlboro Man- "Well, that explains it." *From Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man* 2. " I believe in God and bullets. If you listen to what I say you won't have to meet the first by way of the second." My drill sergeant in boot camp. 3. "This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine." Full Metal Jacket

WHO?! -
I have not only heard of it, I've seen it. I'm surprised they make you shoot at 25 yards though. Usually it's under 50 feet.

Freedom isn't free and I thank everyone who has paid that cost for me. God Bless America!

Sell the .45, keep the 9mm for the cheaper ammo, and go buy the Kimber. I have the XD9SC and a Kimber Stainless Pro Carry and I love it to death!

Funny except for the fact that all that does is perpetuate the myth that playing video games, watching violent movies, and listening to "that damned rap music" makes people kill. It would be truer if it read "Guns don't kill people. People who are insane, careless, or just plain mean kill people."

Fred is my man! Finally a candidate to actually vote for.

Just to let you know, it wasn't true. The old law actually left you very open ended, the new law offers far more protections if you read it thoroughly. The whole idea about not being prosecuted if you used your gun in self-defense when you were carrying illegally came from a situation where an older gentleman who was an ex-convict had his house broken into here in Memphis. He shot the two guys and killed one or both. Since he was an ex-con he had the gun illegally, but the DA didn't charge him because it was a good shoot.Just about everyone that brings up the story of not being charged when carrying illegally, but acting correctly refers to that story when they talk to me about it. It's just like anything else, it's up to the DA to charge you or not.

I'm happy as a pig in hooey! The new law really paves the way for alot of things to get better for gun owners in TN. It was an almost unanimous vote that this law be passed, so maybe we'll get more soon.
