Yea the dash cam, while there have been a few times what was shown wasn't the full story, 95% of the time they are the best friend an officer has.

We were having a discussion at work the other about our mutual hatred for rapists/child molesters and my friend, who is retired LEO, said that while the temptation to beat the living crap out of those guys was great, he said he was always extremely careful in everything he did with them to ensure all the ducks were in a row for court to ensure a conviction. I think while the temptation to send someone "on a ride" is there, it's in an officers best interest to follow the laws and procedures set forth. At least then you know you did everything in your power to get them off the street, it is not worth jeopardizing your career or life.

That's what I thought too. Just seemed odd for 2 people to have that s/n.

I believe that story like I believe in aliens. Actually if Mike .357 told me aliens landed at his house, took his daughter, and shot his dog with a laser, I would offer to drive to his house and spend the next 2 days hunting the alien scum down. They went house to house doing searches. It wasn't legal then and it definitely isn't now. Several states (including TN) make it illegal to confiscate weapons from citizens during an emergency or natural disaster. This has been a big discussion and hole into the argument of "They'll never go door-to-door and confiscate guns." Well, they did it.

It may have been, but I don't think Canyn meant he KNEW it was for other things, just that sometimes the media doesn't always get and/or tell the whole story, but in this case I can't see why any information pertaining to the warrant would be omitted.

There is no inside info! Canyn was just stating that sometimes the police don't release all the information to the media, things such as PRIOR CRIMINAL BACKGROUND won't always come to light in a 1 minute news report. The warrant was probably selected to be served that way because of information the department had on file about that individual A warrant can be for jaywalking, but if the guy has a violent past they are going to go in late/early and try to surprise him.

Maybe that was what the warrant was for, but the little notes in the computer on him might have told a much different story. He killed an officer and wounded another. I'd say it turns out caution was warranted huh?

Knock and announce goes something like this... POLICE DEPARTMENT! SEARCH WARRANT! *SLAM* *FLASHBANG* GET ON THE GROUND GET ON THE GROUND!!!!!! If you can sleep through that you're dead. Even if deaf the concussion would wake you up.

Problem with that statement is you assume all police and military are "gun people" or free thinkers. I speak from experience when I say a fair amount of people in the military will follow just about any order given by a CO. Also, it is foolish to think that should a wide confiscation be ordered that a civil war would not start. It would also be fair to say it would be guerilla warfare. I hope it never happens, but I don't think you need tin foil to see that things in this country just aren't 100% right.
