The rare and elusive CWP badge! Caught on film!

Rick, The reasons alot of people dislike the "badge" are as follows: 1. It is not something you earned in any way. You're not a cop, security guard, anything. You buy a 30 dollar badge and pin it in to look important. 2. It's dangerously close to impersonating an officer. Alot of people with the badges specifically state "I want people to think I'm a cop so I can OC." 3. It's pointless. If the state wanted you to have a badge they'd issue you one with your permit. The way I look at it is, if you want to OC then OC, but don't pin your cracker jack box badge on your hip and walk around with a sense of entitlement. My take on it is if they want to carry a badge so bad go earn it. -

It was an interesting specimen no doubt. The need to share this rare species with the world far outweighed the risks, my good friend. I did not make contact with more than the eyes. I would have liked to studied him further, but you each may be able to spot them. The are often preceded by the smell of Funyuns. -
This guy was next to me in line at wal-mart with about 5 family members. All dressed third rate redneck, but buying a pool and a HUGE flat panel HDTV. This clown turns around and low and behold...a Hi-Point 9mm in an Uncle Mike's special with his CWP badge hanging from his pocket. I have to be honest. I laughed out loud.

I would've been to busy laughing to go get them out lol

There are certain things that will keep you from getting an HCP, but you can still buy a gun. He might need to contact Dept. of Safety and tell them what his DD-214 says and see if they will issue a permit with that type of discharge on record.

I heard alot of the soft stuff to, but considering it was right after he lost his family, I liked the dark brooding, mentally unstable Frank Castle/Punisher mix. Maybe that is what the new one is all about is him being the actual Punisher. I loved those Colts.

Conversation I overheard my friend having with his buddy in Iraq on computer chat. It was his first gunfight since he'd been in country. Friend 1-So what happened again? Friend 2- They shot at the vehicle in front of us and we returned fire. F1-Anybody hurt? F2- Not any of my guys. Those *expletive* aren't shooting anything anymore though. F1- You ok with everything? F2-Huh? Oh yea I'm about to go eat. It's mexican tonight I think... Not what I'd call all melty.

Scenario Question : Standing in line at Kroger...
Punisher84 replied to TGO David's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That is not true and yes an advancing criminal disobeying cease and desist orders is a threat and depending on the circumstances you can use deadly force. Also, it is not impossible for a civilian or plain clothes officer to stop a person in that manner. If you order a guy to stop beating someone and he refuses you could use deadly force. Threat of death or SERIOUS BODILY INJURY. Especially in states like TN where the laws are in favor of self-defense. Also wrong. While it may be harder to prove if you are both 6' 200 pounds and the aggressor is unarmed, if someone attacks you and you tell them to stop, beg them to quit hitting you, etc and they do not, you are legally able to use deadly force. If you started it and then just start getting your ass whipped a little bit you're going to have a tough time claiming self-defense. -
That's great

Best thing I remember is a guy moved here from California. He was a recently ex-marine, avid shooter, fan of carrying a gun, etc. He walked into the shop and was asking what TN's laws were like now. I filled him in and he reaches over shakes my hand, introduces himself, tells me he just moved back to TN from California (I assume Camp Pendleton) and is glad to see that we had freedom in stock. Jolliest dude I ever came across..

I hated to see Tom Jane go as I thought he did the character justice, but I liked the new guy's look. It fit well with the newer graphic novels, but the movie looks like it just wants to explore fancy shootouts and bad dialogue. I'll catch it on Cinemax I suppose. I'm really bummed about this one

Every poll I have seen in news links are overwhelmingly in favor of the decision. I bet Sarah Brady looks like the Emperor when he found out the Death Star got blowed up! Warning Mild Language

I get that alot at the shop/range I work in. My calls usually end with REALLY? Where are you guys again?! Some people don't want to be convinced though. I have a funny story about a lady and her police officer husband that goes along with convincing... She came in to take the permit class with her father and during a break I was helping her look at guns. She said her husband said she should get a .40 Sig because that is what the department he works for uses. I nod and show it to her and she couldn't get her hand all the way around it. I suggested some smaller guns and she seemed very hesitant. It took about 15 minutes before myself, her father, and the instructor convinced her that regardless of what her husband said, she didn't need a gun she couldn't even hold. She probably went home and he called us all idiots and bought her a Sig. Sorry anyway didn't mean to hijack, but I thought you'd appreciate that tale lol

This is awesome news! I love what Feinstein said about people being less safe because of this. Whatever.

Scenario Question : Standing in line at Kroger...
Punisher84 replied to TGO David's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
To sum up the McDonald's video, the OP's scenario, and the video of "large man" beats medium man, I will say the following and add my own story. I have no problem letting anything go. if it is not a threat to myself or someone I care about, I could care less if you act like an ass. If I had been in either one of those places the guy doing the beating would have been on ground spread eagle at gunpoint with the blues rolling in. I'm not going to watch someone be beat to death. My own story now, I was with a few friends at a movie theater one night. About 5 of us there, me and my buddy are carrying. Another group of guys start some stuff with one of my buddies in the parking lot. My group is sizable guys, but they had about double the number and were in their hometown. I grabbed my buddy and told him to leave it be and get in the car. He asks why and I look at him real hard and tell him I'm not in the mood to shoot anyone tonight, especially to save his dumb ass. The guy that wants to fight out of the other group is making catcalls and crap as we walked back to the car. We got in and left and my buddy is ranting and raving about how he could have taken that guy blah blah blah and why did I walk away. I turned around, looked him dead in the eye and told him what has become my motto "I don't fight because fighters can lose, I only win." Moral of the story I won't start it, but I'll finish it.
