  1. I've seen them, my local range sells them. I'm all for them as support of yourself as an LEO or as support for them, but don't use it to get out of a ticket.
  2. Where I work and what I do kinda prohibits me from posting a pic on here. Not trying to be all cloak and dagger, but it could compromise my job. So I'll just describe myself as 6'3 athletic build and devilishly handsome
  3. I refuse to not be armed, unless I absolutely cannot be per law. Then, I have other means. My fiancee' doesn't carry everywhere and when she does she drops it in her purse alot, but she does have pepper spray and she's taken self-defense classes, as well as living with me. Due to being around myself, cop friends and range co-workers she understands that she always need to be on guard. If your wife doesn't want to carry you can't make her. Hopefully, she never has an incident that changes her mind after it's too late...
  4. I've seen people demonstrate Israeli draw and charging the gun on the holster type crap. First off any military unit that is actively fighting is going to be cocked, locked, and ready to rock. Different if you're walking around an embassy I guess. Anyway by the time anyone can get a gun out of a holster and rack the slide I've already got two rounds off. That's if they don't FUBAR their sight or shoot themselves in the hip...
  5. Kinda like the end of Escape from LA.
  6. Not that big a backpack. I have a few dust masks though. Yea that is true.
  7. The old lady and I both have backpacks we keep in our cars. The packs will sustain us for 3-5 days comfortably in just about any condition, then it's time to improvise. My reasons for a mobile pack were 1. travel and 2. disaster situation. I work about 30 minutes from home seperated by bridges and interstates so should "the big one" ever hit, I'm walking or swimming home mostly. We've got the basics around the house like a first aid kit, water, canned food, but nothing extreme. I agree with Gutterboy's psychoanalysis and i think that's pretty much the "hardcore group" in a nutshell. I have a bug out bag the same reason I carry a gun. I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
  8. Officers in TN are supposed to have a HCP off-duty. I've heard varying reasons as to why, but some are so they can carry something other than their department issued gun, avoid liability for their department, etc. I don't have a 100% answer, but every cop I know (I know alot) has an HCP if they carry off-duty.
  9. I thought you'd appreciate that Bkelm
  10. Good stuff! I work with Fugitive Squad alot and they are a great group of folks.
  11. Alot of officers won't organize in something like that due to liability and some departments that have policies against moonlighting. Some of the large churches that I've been to (if you're from Memphis or have ever driven down 40 you know where I mean) have specialized groups that not only protect key members of the church, but provide event security as well. They usually have detailed plans and some are very well trained. It's not for every church obviously, but I know it has worked well for others.
  12. High five! Those badges are the most ridiculous thing ever. The answer never changes either. "I want someone to see it and think I'm OK to have a gun." OK I got one for ya...you took the class? Paid your money? Got fingerprints taken? The State sent you a nifty piece of plastic with your picture on it? HOLY RELOADED AMMUNITION BATMAN! YOU ARE OK TO HAVE A GUN!! I'll be happy as hell if those badges were illegal. I'm not an elitist, but I don't think anyone should wear any type of badge or insignia unless it relates to their job. Either carry it open and explain yourself when asked about it or carry it concealed. (End rant)
  13. There are actually several major churches that have their own security teams. Trained and registered with the state. The biggest issue is whether the church wants to front the money for a specialized security detail. If it is a very large church I'd say see what you can do, other wise just carry and be vigilant.
  14. Ditto on the white hair thing. I'm 23 and have tons of gray. No shrapnel though. I can't grow a beard anymore because of my current job, but I can grow a goatee. That is going nicely and the ladies are giving it rave reviews.
  15. HAR!
  16. That's cute. Repay them years later by answering the door to their first date wearing nothing but boxers and a wife beater, holding a bottle of Jack and asking the nice young man if he "has ever been to prison" and if he would enjoy "making love to a man". That outta be about even.
  17. A friend of mine once said " A 1911 is like a true sports car, alot of people want one, not every one should own one" If you're happier with a Glock by all means a Glock is a fine firearm, but a Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, or Ed Brown is a religious experience.
  18. I always knew a man with an Adam West icon would have great taste! HIGH FIVE! OK...I'm calm now.
  19. COWBOYS! I hope and pray...
  20. Well said. I'm all for the option to open carry and i think a person has the right to choose, but I think concealed, at least in an out of sight out of mind sense, is the way to go.
  21. HAR!

    My Niece

I don't have the words man. I hope it turns out as well as it can. Sounds like that little bastard deserves to be behind bars.
  23. I almost went there... BTW you have almost convinced me to buy a holster shirt lol thanks for taking that joke in stride!
