If your gun is confiscated for any reason you will need to show proof of ownership and get the court to order the police department property officer to return it to you. Generally, in a defensive shooting or any other time your weapon is taken due to an investigation you should be issued some type of property receipt as proof of original ownership. Different departments act differently and anything can happen, but if you keep your head about you, know the law, and act responsibly you shouldn't run into a problem. There is always the random situation though. I'm halfway between an LEO and an armchair commando so you'll have to take from that what you can. On a personal note, you come across kinda bold in your posts and slightly defensive. Everyone tries to keep it civil around here and telling people to post their badge number or get out of the house is a little over the top. Just my

There are no state restrictions on tasers for carry. There are certain places that you couldn't carry one, but unless your college specifically forbids it in their rulles, I am not aware of any state law that says you can't. They aren't consider a deadly device and are generally lumped in with pepper spray as far as civilian carry goes. Some states have different laws, but TN doesn't have any restrictions that I know of. P.S Would it be bad to mention your avatar does not promote safe gun handling at all? A firearm should never be anywhere that close to that region. It's just...WRONG.

I'm with Phantom on this. I've never driven drunk and have never committed a crime. I do agree that for certain crimes, after you have paid your debt you should be able to own guns and have a permit. DUI is a choice though. If you're taking meds that you don't know how they affect you, don't drive. If you drink or do drugs, that's your choice, but don't drive. It only takes one mistake to ruin someone else's life forever.

I have the same problem Gutter. I sleep better at night than I did during the day, but it's hard for me to fall asleep. I haven't really found a solution yet either...

No you can't bring a handgun across country borders. No you can't carry in Canada. They have no carry laws and private ownership of handguns is illegal.

2 things here. 1. Any Instructor who doesn't teach the correct information should have their license pulled until they learn the proper laws. and 2. I almost got fired from my job doing Hospital Security when I was doing training because I argued with the Director of the entire system about carrying in a hospital. He thought it was illegal because it was in the handbook for employees. I said and quote "You cannot charge someone with going armed unless you have the property posted or you ask them to leave and they refuse, even then it's only Criminal Trespass." He told me he would not be corrected by a trainee. I then told him where I worked and what I had done for the past 2 years and showed him the actual laws. He didn't talk to me much after that... OH BTW.. I never told him what proper signs meant either
