    I shot the 642

Go to your gun shop, outdoors store, or wal-mart and buy a basic cleaning kit for a .38 if you don't have one. If you already have a basic kit just get a .38 caliber brush, some patches, and a bottle of Hoppes or Remoil, or any lubricating gun oil. Clean the barrel and the cylinder with the brush, wipe the excess with the patches and that's about it.
  2. Dang man take care of yourself.

    cleaning a .223

.22 kit FTW brotha. I may actually have some extra brushes...
  4. My friend, I will be praying for you and your family. I am so sorry to hear this. This has been such a sad year for this board. Through this though I think we have found a group of loving, caring brothers and sisters and that, hopefully may bring a small bit of comfort.
  5. So what will us addicts do now? I thought the finale was beautiful. Next season gonna be interesting boys and girls...
  6. Score on both fronts!
  7. The shootout in Vice was the best part of that movie.
  8. I have a kit in my saddlebags. Same deal carry what you know how to use. A splint can be made out anything though. Bandages and gauze would be key in a bike accident.
  9. I wasn't advocating anything less. What I'm saying is instead of trying to get people to look for certain arteries I'm getting them to look at the major muscle groups that are attempting to take their weapon. If you want to go poking around looking for arteries be my guest. I'm filleting their damn arm open so they stop. I'm not looking to kill, I'm looking to NEUTRALIZE. Sing it with me children!
  10. I love Wal-Mart. I don't care if they can't speak English nobody in this country can anymore. They are cheap and only there to serve me cheaply. I could care less if the chick the nose ring making 6 bucks an hour is nice to me. I want my damn pork rinds and Sam's Choice Cola. I live in Memphis though so I have low expectations of customer service and life in general...
  11. There was an article I posted on here months ago about weapon retention and using a knife retained on the weak side to "dissuade" the offender from unholstering your firearm without permission. This is a case where good martial arts knowledge comes in handy. He won't get your gun, but he'll get a trip to the ER with a dislocated shoulder. EDIT: I looked for the article and can't find it, but the theory is to cut across the bicep and/or through the shoulder of the attacker and immobilize their arm. Aikido comes in very handy in these situations if you know how to use it. The thing is you have to act and not panic. You want to hold the gun, but remember that they will most likely be going at it with both hands, leaving you one hand free to utilize. It's the same as when people are being grabbed or choked. Don't pull at their hands, inflict pain and MAKE them stop what they are doing.
  12. That sucks to hear man. They are cutting us a shift per month for now at work to see if that gets our budget right. I couldn't tell ya what the F a bonus is though.
  13. We play the magazine game at work. You leave a mag unattended or if we can get it out of your mag holder it's round hiding time. A few have been so bold as to go for an exposed mag release, but we always make sure it's obvious so the person doesn't lose a mag on the draw lol
  14. Call up a photo shop that specializes in processing photos, not a quickee one hour mart or anything. Ask them if they can transfer the photos to a disc for you and if they could possibly preserve the originals as well.
  15. Believe them or not do you really see Robin Williams saying all that crap? How many comedians do you know that would ever say the types of things in these forwarded e-mails in public? I'll stick with Snopes over my buddy's aunt's cousin's brother's former roommate.
  16. Tell that to some of my buddies that saw it firsthand in Iraq. They aren't the end all be all, but they can help stop bleed out.
  17. Usual "wouldn't that be nice" e-mail, but sorry folks... http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/williams.asp
  18. I either take it out and sit it next to me if alone, center console if I have company, or in a shoulder rig for long trips.
  19. Just because a "code of silence" exists in some departments does not mean that it is ALL cops or ALL departments. I do not excuse or condone misconduct, period. Like the military, policing is not a black and white job and it is not easy. The things people don't see or deal with is what cops sweep up every day. Putting children in body bags, being shot at, shooting at someone, constantly having to be suspicious of everyone and everything so you can (hopefully) go home to your wife/ husband and kids, and then being blamed for everything by people who have no friggin' clue what you go through every shift makes you a little different and it makes you a little cynical. So yea maybe you trade a piece of your soul for your badge, but if you're a cop that is trying to be part of the solution and not the problem then sometimes that piece is worth it.
  20. +1 Unless it's a person I rely on to help get me out of where I am, I'm only saving family and VERY close friends
  21. I'm with EMTRN, I have read some stupid crap on this site, but that takes the top prize. You are either ignorant or just trying to start an argument. Sure there is police corruption, but there are tons of hard working honorable police officers who put up with the problems of the world every damn day just to be lumped in with the corrupt by ignorant civilians like you. I'm done listening to this stupid crap from people who have never walked a beat. Add something useful or shut up.
  22. Started playing it on X-Box. It is the epitome of run and gun, but it's fun.
  23. See, that would be my problem. If you give me any type of cillin or myocin I'm dead. Fast. Having antiobiotics is good, but risky.
  24. I'm glad that guy got out and knew what to do, but that's reckless to post that in a newsletter from a self-proclaimed "expert". If you know what you are doing that's great, but don't assume putting sutures in, or administering "battle-field medicine" is simple. You want to keep the person alive, doing a bunch of things you assume to be correct without knowing how could cost them their life. A first aid kit should be built around what YOU know how to use, nothing else. You wouldn't load up a rifle you didn't know how to operate or clean would you? What makes you think watching House and E.R is going to give you the mental clarity to save a life when you don't know the difference between a a bandage and gauze? What's the old saying about a road to Hell and good intentions?
