Hey boy I been checking Snopes since since the invention of the internet. I'm a certified Snopes checker in 4 states. You're wrong, I'm right. Why? Because I'm certified. Oh and this one time I was changing this lamp and I got it changed and then we had light. I'll never forget that.

? Uh ok then. Care to elaborate?

No it'd be off limits since it's still technically in the park.

When was the last time you cleared your house?

This is one of the reasons I prefer to train and shoot in less-than-optimal conditions. I have pretty good night vision, and like Jlowe said, I know my home better than anyone. I have no kids though, and unless I have to, I'm hunkered down waiting for someone to decide how bad they wanna come into the bedroom. -
+1 I'm much more likely to avoid a situation now then I think I ever was before. After 3 years of carrying and 2 working in private security, plus the military I'm always looking for the suspicious dudes and the exits. Why gunfight if you don't have to?

I pray every day that God keeps me safe at work, but I wear a Ballistic vest. I pray that God keeps me safe when I drive, but I wear my seatbelt. Theme established I assume. God gave us a brain and free will. We have a choice of how to live our lives. I believe God knows exactly when we will die and from what, but I think the choices we make our still ours and God gave us those decisions to make.

DAMN RIGHT! Anyway I might swing by just to say hey, but since most of you that are going see me all the time anyway...lol I've got a ride I'm supposed to go on with a buddy so we'll see what time I gotta be there.

It is if you don't have the tax stamp and paperwork for it. Shadow is also LEO though so it may be a work gun.

Astra, If you need to talk I'm here buddy. I say with a last few hours turn of events that has left me fairly out of sorts. My Grandfather pretty much raised me and is now suffering from dementia. For those of you that don't know I run campus security for one of the major hospitals here in Memphis. My grandfather is now in this facility and due to his behavior and acting out is a low grade risk. I.E if he hits a nurse, etc. I had to explain to him tonight that he had to stay, couldn't leave, etc. I was kind and loving, but firm. I just had to deal with it like I would any other patient. Anyway doubt any of that helps, but thanks for listening to my rant. Like I said I'm here for ya.

I'm fine with that. If it's legal, it's legal. The problem is what this doofus did and where he did it was not legal. I can't figure out why these bloggers are trying to turn him into a martyr for the gun rights cause at the same time 3 people, one of which is a police chief, are being indicted over a tragic accident. It's like internal sabotage...

That's sweeeet.

I would just leave it be or tell the authorities. Not much you can really do without making "the family" angry. That has to be a personal decision. When my Grandfather started going downhill I just told him that I was taking the guns and that Mom had hers and that was enough. He didn't like it, but he couldn't fight it either. Hope it all works out for ya buddy.

I've been yelling that for years lol.

Let him go to jail for breaking several laws. Even if he had a permit he carried it into a BAR, then DRANK ALCOHOL, then shot himself with an unholstered firearm. Yes, I understand you don't have to use a holster, but don't most responsible carriers use a holster and a belt? Not a Glock in sweatpants? That's another thing...WHO THE HELL WEARS SWEATS TO A NIGHTCLUB?! Now I think the guy has a right to carry and a right to defend himself, but he was irresponsible and broke the law. Even if he had been in Florida with a permit he would have broken several laws. I don't want Plaxico as a poster boy for gun rights. If any member of this forum or an average joe had done that crap we'd have ran up a 15 page thread calling for his/her head.

Clint Eastwood doesn't need a Garand, he spits bullets faster than an UZI.

"The life and death cost of Gun Control"
Punisher84 replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I like the article's theme as well, but yea seriously, I don't think we need to use NFL players, rappers, or the like as good themes for anything to do with firearms. -
I can't really add much to what's been said, but I speak to people everyday that are just getting into handguns or just getting into carrying and they all have some type of fear. "Will my kids get to it?" "What if I kill someone?" "What will my friends and/or family think?" The key really is to learn, train, and practice. A gun IS a power tool. The moment you don't respect it, you or someone else can be accidentally hurt. You'll find your balance. We all have. I advise sharing your concerns with your instructor. Any good instructor will help you work through your fears and offer insight.

Speedloaders are usually 10-20 dollars depending on a few factors. That being said I'd go with option 3. Gun loaded and in a safe. If you can get fast enough with a speedloader that'd be ok, but I suggest practicing at 3am. Set your alarm, LOUD, wake up and immediately go for your gun and load it. If you can't do this in less that a few seconds after practice it is not a good option for self defense.

To some DAs it's all the same though brother.

I actually had the pleasure of talking to Massad Ayoob over the summer when he was in town doing a writer's conference. I picked his brain about some of these issues that he brings up like carrying extra ammo, trigger work, etc. His take was pretty much that they SHOULD be non-issues and would be in a perfect world. The problem is that SHOULD a D.A decide to prosecute and did find out you had lowered the trigger pressure he COULD introduce you as a "rambo" with disregard to public safety, blah, blah, blah. It sounds stupid to US, but remember, if they can introduce any doubt about your character to a jury they could get you convicted. Because hey if you were so "irresponsible" to lighten the trigger pressure on your gun then maybe you were "irresponsible" when you "murdered" that "poor young man." The story I most clearly remember is the pharmacist that was being robbed and shot the robber with a .22 target pistol. Then as the robber fled, the pharmacist accidentally shot him again in the back. I believe he was finally found innocent, but he lost everything paying fees and in a civil suit. My humble opinion, use a stock pistol with over the counter hollow points and be able to defend INTELLIGENTLY your choice of weapon and ammo. Find out what your local LEOs are issued. I.E they carry hollow points and you carry hollow points. You can kill any argument about ammo from a D.A with that little tid bit. If you carry a target gun, just be able to defend that choice.
