That sucks man. They won't let ya'll do anything? We operate just like the police in our system. Obviously there are some differences and we're not commissioned officers, but we get a fair amount of training and gear. Dealing with psych patients, drunks, and just general riff-raff and disturbances you have to be able to go hands on in a hospital environment.

I don't get it. How do you pass a law on a right? I guess it'd be nice to have it affirmed, but I don't see it happening in this climate.

Insurance regulations and a mixture of state laws. 18-20 can fire long guns such as .22 rifles anytime and shotguns and .223 on Saturday nights. Anyone under 21 can shoot handguns if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Can't sell handgun ammunition to anyone under 21 anyway, but their insurance regulations won't let anyone under 21 fire a handgun on the range unless they have a parent or legal guardian with them. Wives/husbands don't count either.

Yea it pisses me off too. I understand that no one wants a gun pointed at them or whatever, but that cop did not have to take her down like that. I rarely ever second guess police or military tactics, but body slamming that little old lady over that was nuts.

Just a little off-topic, but I got in trouble playing World of Warcraft one day because during a group battle everyone on my team just sucked and I told them they fought like the French. A GM told me that type of talk would not be tolerated. I told him I understood, but that it was still true. He laughed.

So does anyone else here watch Burn Notice? Season 3 kicked off last night and I love this friggin' show. Keeps me going until Sons of Anarchy comes back on in the fall anyway. I think it's cool because it's got the Miami Vice feel, but with a little of the Magnum P.I swagger. Apparently the technical adviser also learns to do whatever Jeff Donavan's character is supposed to do and sees if it will actually work. If it does they use it on the show and the adviser teaches Jeff Donavan how to do it.

A good majority, but not all. There were several incidents where the National Guard and local PD removed guns from law abiding citizen's homes. The NRA published a few accounts.

I think the New Orleans incident, while a good example, is still used a bit to much as a broad example. During Katrina you had a complete shutdown and failure of the local government and many serious errors made on the part of the federal government. The fact that guns were being taken from people didn't become wide spread news until several days later. If a nationwide gun grab were going into effect it would leak. Every federal and local agency would HAVE to be in on it to even give it a remote chance of playing out. That is if the government hadn't already announced it publicly. People would know and people would prepare. Things are vastly different here. You have hundreds of thousands that have military and police training in this country that own guns and believe in the 2nd amendment. I also, despite, Katrina do not think all LEOs or even military would stand behind a full-on gun grab. The majority probably would, but you'd still have dissenters. I agree with the statements made that they will basically regulate us out of commission. We will probably always have guns in this country, but what type and how much freedom we have with them is yet to be seen.
