  1. Hey Marine! If anybody is buying anybody a beer, I'm buying you one.
  2. Miami Vice you say? Shoulder holster you say? Hot you say? Well I do declare...
  3. You're seriously asking for his forum on this forum?
  4. LOL Manner of dress does have alot to do with it. Of course if you flash the perp while drawing it might give you an edge. And yes shooting ourselves accidentally is a male stereotype. All the cool kids are doing it.
  5. I concur with NRAforlife on this. I agree with free speech and all, but really spouting off about killing government agents on the internet is only looked at two ways. If times are getting as bad as we all assume, which way you think they are looking? How badass are you gonna be when they drag you out of the bed at 3am, black bag you, and dump you somewhere without a lawyer for Treason or whatever? If we are talking tinfoil hats gentlemen this is about as real as it gets. Think of it this way... *The founding fathers walk past several heads of the British Government and their guards* Washington: I think we should kill them before they take away any more of our freedoms! Jefferson: Quite right! Death to the British! Come and take them I say! Franklin: Quite right! *The guards shoot and kill the founding fathers* British Head of state: I wonder why they would go about planning a revolution in public? How odd. Some things are better saved for more private venues in certain times my friends.
  6. Yes. I will say that for the exact reasons you mentioned. Most women leave their purses sitting in carts, cars, or don't practice any type of retention with it. Granted there are exceptions to the rule, but unless you practice drawing from your purse, practice EXCEPTIONAL situational awareness, and hold on to that thing like you would your baby in a hurricane purse carry is not a good way to go. Is it better than nothing? Of course. I think purse carry is just another thing that kinda stereotypes female shooters. Just because you gotta lug that thing around doesn't mean you gotta throw the gun in there too. Get a nice IWB holster and keep on rockin' in the free world!
  7. Not trying to flame you, but something doesn't add up here. You had DV charges put against you at 17, THEN after you originally bought a gun you were pulled over and arrested for an outstanding warrant. Correct? What was the warrant for and what was the disposition of that case?
  8. Here's where I stand. I don't think anyone should give any advice as to what gun will fit anyone. That is a personal decision you make. HOWEVER, I sell people guns and help them get training for those guns for a living. Am I going to sell you a .38 because you're a pwetty wittle girl? Negative. I'm going to get your opinion and see what you like and what fits you. If you can't rack the slide after I've shown you 10 times how to properly do it and you're shaking like a leaf, I'm probably gonna start you at with a .22 and work up. Maybe to a revolver, maybe to a Desert Eagle. The thing is revolvers work very well for alot of people that don't want to spend time with a semi-auto. That's a true fact. Can a semi-auto work just as well? Why sure it can, it's just up to the customer to purchase what they want. Plain and simple. Oh and free advice to the ladies out there. When you come into a gun shop with your husband or boyfriend and YOU want to look at guns. Talk to the salesman and tell your significant other to shut up and let you pick. I hate when a lady comes in to look at a firearm and lets her B/F or whatever do all the talking. The gun is for YOU! That same note any gun shop that employs the type of chauvinistic dweebs that tells a woman she needs a "woman's gun" should be run out of business.
  9. I agree with Canyn. One of the most common questions I ask new shooters looking for a carry gun or even home defense gun is how often they intend to practice. Alot of people just want the security and peace of mind of owning a firearm. They do not want to shoot IDPA, take advanced classes, or become "gun people." For these people a revolver is just fine. It's simple to clean and operate. Plus, teaching someone to shoot a DA revolver is alot easier than teaching someone how to clear a jam or operate a semi-auto reliably if they aren't going to devote much time to train. A DA trigger pull is easy to overcome by doing hand exercises and strengthening the grip and trigger finger. Just my 2 pennies as well. EDIT: I do also agree that just handing someone a 2" snubby as the end all be all is not the answer either.
  10. Dang laws. Killin' all the fun in life. A pistol grip shotty would be sweet!!
  11. How do you know when you might need it? Why not just not go to that place? Sorry not trying to derail or bash, just hear that alot and it always kinda makes me scratch my head.
  12. What's the old saying about running them out on a rail? Cause I got a telephone pole with rusty nails that'd be perfect for this doofus...
  13. While it's been cold I've been wearing my .38 snubbie on my strong side with a thumbsnap holster and the jacket covers it well. This summer it'll be the 1911 in a shoulder rig under the vest. I ride a cruiser style back as well, if that matters to you.
  14. So much for those restaurant boycotts then I guess.
  15. You could buy .22 lr because it's not considered a handgun round primarily. You cannot purcase handgun ammo at a store or range, but you could shoot the gun yes.
  16. Just going by what this guy told me. TBI never actually tells us what the reason behind the denial is. Judging from this fellow's look and demeanor I'd say "Intent to go armed" probably isn't the only thing on his file.
  17. It ain't the years, it's the mileage. I work around people twice my age lol I call everyone kid now.
  18. +1 I ran a guy's 4473 one day and it came back denied. He wanted to know why and what to do. I talked with him and I told him straight that if you are getting denied you probably know why, unless it's a mistaken identity. He says "Well I did get into some trouble awhile back." I respond "Uh-huh. What for if I may ask?" He says "Carrying a gun without a permit." So yea dude had a court date for intent to go armed and was trying to buy a gun. Don't mess your life up kid. Get a case with a lock and put it in the trunk if you're going somewhere to shoot.
  19. Biggest mistake I ever made was teaching my wife to shoot almost as well as me. That statistic about your 300% more likely to be killed by a gun if you own one? Yup that's me next time I tick the ole lady off.
  20. The NRA is far from perfect. They are a lobbying group. In order to be an effective lobbyist you have to understand politics and politicians. That means you have to be a scheister more or less. TDR got it right though more or less, most folks don't want to do the leg work and if you push to hard you only do one of two things: 1. You push them til they break or 2. You push them so hard they refuse to ever come to your way of thinking just out of spite. The enemy of my enemy is my friend kinda thing.
  21. Hit me up. I'll set you up with a guy who can re-finish it. Nice pistol man.
  22. That's assuming they even come "knocking".
  23. +1 and NRAforlife I understand where you are coming from, but it's not up to just the people in his county. Everyone in the state that voted republican should be calling for this idiot's head.
  24. Most of it's pretty good. I agree with Tower about open carry though. Like it or not it should still be a choice we have. I also must add, I am a spy, well I was until I got burned, but I'm working on that...
  25. Elliott MAD!!! Not that I blame you and I agree with you wholeheartedly.
