  1. I'm confused.  Why would they mark the reproduction receivers "ROCK-OLA" when Rockola didn't make M14 receivers?
  2.   G&R Tactical offers lower parts kits w/ various Geiselle triggers as options.  G&R also has various options for Buffer, Buffer Spring, Receiver Extension, Castle Nut, Receiver Plate, Trigger Guard, and Pistol Grip.  I wish they offered ambi safeties as an option.   I've used G&R lower parts kits a few times and the parts have always worked with no fitting, fiddling, etc. that sometimes comes with cheaper lower parts kits.   http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=GRT-LPK&reference=/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi%3Fsearch%3Daction%26keywords%3D%26searchstart%3D0%26template%3DPDGCommTemplates/FullNav/SearchResult.html%26category%3DGRTA   Even though the lower parts kits are frequently shown on the website as "out of stock", you can email Grant at sales@grtac.com to get the current availability status.
  3. Pics look great.  I'd prefer not to have the grooves, so that's a pleasant surprise.   I really appreciate being able to participate in this Group Buy.  Thanks to everyone that made this possible.
  4. I'm interested in a lower and an upper.  Thanks.
  5. Welcome! I moved from Michigan to Tennessee about 30 years ago.  Luckily, they let me stay.  I love it here.   With respect to snow driving in these parts, you will quickly learn that no matter how good you are in the snow, if no one else is - you're still in big trouble. :)
  6. I have taken rifles classes from Yancey in the past and think he packs a lot of instruction/info into a 1-day class.  He's scheduled a class for this October at the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office Training Center.  I've also taken classes from Rob Edwards (Humphrey's County Sheriff's Office and local contact for this class) back when he did private instruction and he's a great instructor as well.   I have no affiliation with Paladin Professional Training Services, Yancey Harrington (instructor), the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office, or the course other than attending it as a student at the regular course fee.     Carbine/AK Fundamentals & Enhancement Combination Class Waverly, TN – October 12, 2013   Link: http://www.paladinprotraining.com/wp/?page_id=15   Instructor: Yancey Harrington, Paladin Professional Training Resources Location: Humphreys Co Sheriff’s Office Training Center 2123 Scepter Rd Waverly, TN 37185 Date: Saturday, October 12, 2013 Duration: Training time approximately 10 hours Cost: $195.00 One Day Course Prerequisites: Carbine/tactical rifle/Kalashnikov training class from an approved trainer. 7. I bought a Sawyer last year and used it for about 3 weeks worth of trips. I bought some Evernew water containers after reading about the Sawyer bag's durability issues on the Backpacking Light forums. Found a seller on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Evernew-Backpacking-Ultra-Lightweight-Water-Carry-2-0L-/251259215499?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a80375e8b Haven't experienced any problems with the Evernews so far. I like the bags because they take up almost no space when empty.
  8.   Thanks for the link, those are Gen 2.
  9.   Thanks for the info.  Were they Gen 2/MOE or M3?   I ordered a 10 pack of the black, non-window, M3 5.56 mags on 12/26 and haven't heard a thing yet.  I guess I picked the wrong mags to order.
  10.   Thanks for the tip.   I called and think I found the problem.  They haven't sent Sgt_P a copy of their FFL yet.  Some kind of mix up where they didn't have record of me talking with them about it. So when they received the request for their FFL they didn't understand the who/what/why of the request.   Hopefully that issue will be resolved today and it can start it's journey next week.   In the mean time I'll just drool over your and Verne's pics. :)
  11.   Sorry if I missed it, but what caliber (5.56, 7.62), color, type (window or non-window), and generation (Gen 2 or M3) mags did you order?   Thanks.
  12. Those look great!   Congrats to you both.
  13. Congrats to Verne & Paletiger13!   I must have p*ssed off Sgt_P because I don't even have a tracking number yet.
  14.   +1   I have done the same as jlautiger describes.  Its a shame we have to go through so much trouble just to get gas cans that work.   I also found 3 new condition Scepter military fuel cans w/ viton gaskets at the Hendersonville gun show last fall.  One of the surplus vendors had them mixed in with their other surplus items.
  15.   I don't think so.  I'm still waiting for my tracking number too, and I'm near the beginning of the alphabet.   I'm also up for a shoot sometime after we all receive them.
  16.   Which version are you getting?   16.5" FDE for me.
  17. I don't know about the FNAR, but I loaded IMR4895 in match loads for an M1A back in ancient times when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. :)   At that time IMR4895 and IMR4064 seemed to be the 2 most often used powders in M1A match loads for civilian shooters.   Going from memory (please, please, please double check with a current reloading manual), the charges for IMR4895 were in the 41-43 grain range (depending on the rifle, brass manufacturer), OAL 2.800".
  18.   If you mean buying rifles/ammo from the CMP, here's a link to their Sales webpage:   http://www.odcmp.com/sales.htm
  19. I ordered some black, non-window, M3's from Brownells on 12/26 and haven't heard a thing.

    Tavor

Here are some pics I took at the 2012 Bullpup Shoot that was held Sept 29th-30th at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, KY. Spoke with Michael Kassnar of IWI US ( http://iwi.us/ ). He was nice, and freely talked about the rifle's development and features. At that time he said the retail price would be $1,999 with estimated delivery about April. Of course that was before the current panic. I assume that more info will be released next week at the SHOT Show. The optic on the Tavor in the photos is an Aimpoint Micro in a Standard AR mount. The set up seemed to work well in the very limited amount of dry firing I was allowed to do. The trigger pull on this example was comparable to a standard AR semi auto trigger. Mr. Kassnar said that the sling attachment points would be changed to accept the QD-type sling swivels. Several people (some with expensive looking camera & sound equipment) at the Bullpup Shoot got the chance to fire it (I wasn't so lucky). Military Arms Channel on YouTube has a video of the Tavor from the Bullpup Shoot: TAVOR TAR-21 Rifle by IWI - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Xx2yCbmgp-c
  21. OK, thanks redstategunnut & Mike.
  22. Is SOE set up in TR's old Gear Store location a retail shop too or just their sewing operations? I noticed the TR Gear Store no longer sells SOE stuff and was wondering where to buy it now.
  23. I bought mine from Harrison at AR Performance: Innovative Tactical Systems LLC, Made in USA, AR 15 uppers, piston operated tactical upper, 5.56, 6.8spc, custom precision barrels I'm very happy with it. 16" barrel, 1:12 twist and Spec II chamber. I don't think he sells 1:12" barrels anymore, but has 1:11". You might also want to check out the reviews on the 68 Forum: Home of the 6.8 SPC - 68forums.com
