Without a magazine in it, it is impossible (for me at least) to determine. But both the Russian and Ukraine military use 5.45x39, so most likely it is an AK-74M. I think it's unlikely that it is an AK-103 which is 7.62x39 and not commonly issued by either Russian or Ukraine.

Sierra Trading Post sent out an email with 40% off today (2/28/14) making the red Mora Light My Fire knives a price of $15.57 plus shipping. It won't let me link directly, but I'll forward their email if anyone is interested.

I always went to Kano Labs on East Thompson Lane in Nashville to buy it. Is there another facility in Murfreesboro? I also use Kano's "Dryphite" (spray graphite that dries) and "Slikene" (spray teflon that dries). I use Kroil to loosen rusted fasteners. Works great for that, but I really dislike the incredibly persistent smell of it.

I have been picking up the Mora/Light My Fire knives from Sierra Trading Post. They seem to get them in various colors (right now red). If you are signed up for their email alerts you'll routinely receive 30%-40% off digital coupons, many times with $0.99 or free shipping. The regular price is $25.95, but with the coupons & shipping deals the last ones I bought were about $17 shipped. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/light-my-fire-swedish-fireknife~p~6461n/?filterString=s~light-my-fire%2F&colorFamily=03

I grew up in the St. Joe area and moved to Tennessee about 30 years ago. Still have a bunch of family up there. I prefer anywhere I've lived/worked in Tennessee. St. Joe is a nice place and everything, but I find Tennessee much nicer (and I don't miss the Michigan winters). I have lived in Nashville and Knoxville, with family in Gallatin, Hendersonville, White House, and Brentwood. Worked in Franklin and Oak Ridge. You've received a bunch of great advice already. I'll chip in a couple things based on my experience. To me there's a big difference driving from the Nashville area and the added time spent driving from Knoxville. I've mostly driven it in the winter, so maybe in the summer months it doesn't seem like such a big difference. Having flown out of both the Knoxville and Nashville airports many times, I much prefer Nashville. More flights, cheaper prices, nicer airport. Several of the folks I know/knew in Knoxville would regularly drive to Nashville to catch flights. Just based on the "enjoyment of living there" I preferred Knoxville. Smaller town, close to the mountains, great 1,0000 yard shooting range at the Oak Ridge Sportsmen's Association. In the Nashville area, I'd stay out of Davidson county unless you have a compelling reason to be there (love living in the city, frequenting country music bars, etc.). Living in any of the adjacent counties will still be close enough to enjoy what Nashville offers. But I've also spent a fair amount of time in the Sedona/Flagstaff area and if I could make it work I'd live near there. Pretty cheap flights in & out of Phoenix...... :D

Great looking set up! Do you have any data about point of impact shift with disassembling/reassembling the rifle, and/or with/without the suppressor. I am considering a similar set up and don't have any experience with the take down 10/22's.

It's Yugoslavian surplus, corrosive. Great ammo, but clean up after shooting to avoid rust.

Anyone else been following this Liberal BS in Colorado?
mike_f replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
At this point Colorado is East California. I lived there for many years. It is a beautiful place, with many fine people. But there has been a flood of Californians moving there since at least the late 80's. I think it is past the point of no return politically and I lament its downfall. -
I've used a pocket holster from aholster.com for several years. It has worked well all of this time. I have tried other holsters and the features that the aholster.com holster has that I like better are: 1. the "hook" at the "top" of the holster that helps keep it in your pocket when the pistol is drawn 2. the holster covers the magazine release button. I carry the pistol in my left pocket. I found that when I bumped against objects with holsters that don't cover the button, the button would be depressed in my pocket and the mag would fall out when I drew the pistol. http://www.lefthandholster.com/Pocket_Holster.php

Here's my one similar data point: I just got a Form 4 back from a transfer from Guns & Leather. I turned the completed (by me & CLEO) forms back into G&L the first week of March 2013. Per the ATF it went pending May 15, 2013. I didn't notice it at the time I picked it up, but the signature for the G&L representative was dated 9/27/2013. So I'm guessing that the Form 4 was originally submitted to the ATF unsigned by the Transferor. The approval date stamp at the bottom of the form was 1/2/2014, so that was about 3 months after the corrected (signed) form was resubmitted to the ATF. I am actually impressed that the ATF was back in the office the day after New Year's approving forms. I was called by G&L on 1/18/14 saying they had received approved Form 4. ETA: I also mailed a Form 1 to the ATF the same day I returned the Form 4 to G&L. I haven't heard a peep about the Form 1 so far. The ATF cashed my check for the Form 1 shortly after I submitted it, but I haven't called about. I would have guessed that they would have done both my Form 4 & Form 1 together, but I guess not.

I have happily carried an A.G. Russell Featherlite (3 1/8" blade, 1.5oz, $34.95 or $49.95) for years: http://www.agrussell.com/ag-russell-one-hand-knife-general-purpose-blade-vg10-blade/p/Khhh93C10/

Thanks for that info. I can understand why you don't trust. No ammo should do that.

Was that brass cased (not made in Russia) or steel cased (made in Russia) Wolf ammo? I don't have a dog in this fight, but here's a video review from MAC of the brass cased Wolf Gold .223 ammo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z7GB6RD4kI

I compare the prices here: http://gun-deals.com/list/ammo/.223%252F5.56 Prvi Partizan 55gr brass for about $395/1,000 shipped: http://www.sgammo.com/product/prvi-partizan/1000-rd-case-556-mm-m193-55-grain-fmj-prvi-partizan-ammo-pp52 Wolf 55gr brass cased for about $366/1,000 shipped: http://www.ammunitionstore.com/products/223-ammo-55gr-fmj-wolf-gold-brass-case-boxer-primed-1000-round-case.html I've bought from both of these suppliers in the past (not recently though) without problems.

According to this link: http://www.coacheshotseat.com/SalariesContracts.htm Penn State paid their last coach (Bill O'Brien) $2.3 million (#37 on the list) Vandy paid Franklin $2.75 million ( #19 on the list)

Clay pigeons on the backstop or hanging on a string have worked well for me.

I have used these to fill in markings: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/engraving-tools-supplies/inlay-color-fill-sticks/lacquer-stik--prod7778.aspx They're $5, really easy to use (it's difficult even for me to screw it up), and quick. I've been using the same sticks for years. After they've sat unused for months or years, just trim a little off the ends and they're ready to use again.

Australian police find 328 guns, 4.2 tons of ammo at farm
mike_f replied to JohnC's topic in General Chat
Seems a little light on ammo for 328 guns........ :D -
In the one I have the original buffer kind of disintegrated inside the receiver and gummed up the works. My rifle hasn't been shot very much, so I thinks just its age caused it to fall apart. They quit making those rifles in 1999 IIRC, so the newest ones are 14 years old. Mine was made in the early 90's. I replaced it with a Blackjack buffer and haven't had any problems since. That was several years ago and I don't know who sells replacement buffers now.

Separate from the break in issue, my (and from what I've read many others) CZ 452 needed a vigorous cleaning when it was new. I don't know if it was a preservative or stuff left from the manufacturing process, but there was a lot of brown "gunk" that came out of the barrel. I cleaned from the breach with a bore guide until the patches came out clean. It took longer than any other new rifle I've encountered. I haven't cleaned the bore since and don't intend to unless the accuracy starts to degrade. Here's a thread about the "gunk" over at the Rimfire Central Forum: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=342208

Picked my set up at Guns & Leather, they look great! Flawless machining, fit, and finish. The whole group buy was well planned and executed by everyone involved. My thanks to CMT, TGO, and Guns & Leather.

A local resident in our neighborhood listserv group posted the letter below as being supplied by Rep. Jim Cooper's office about the helicopters: I would have included the posted response letter from Rep. Cooper, but it was divided up into about 6 different files and I couldn't figure out how to put it together. The posted Cooper letter pointed out that the dates in the SOCOM letter don't match the dates of the overflights, but opined that the SOCOM notification "looks like a generic notification". Cooper's letter also stated that although his office was notified in advance they were specifically asked not to release the SOCOM letter to the press prior to the exercise.

The helicopters made several passes over my house Tuesday night. Last pass was about 11:00PM. I saw 2 Blackhawks flying together and then single Blackhawks. 3 passes of a pair, and then 2 passes of singles. Our dogs go nuts every time they approach. I guessed that they were flying in the bad weather over urban areas on purpose.
