PM answered. Sorry for the delay, Thanksgiving & all.

Pretty sure I have one laying around here somewhere. Let me see if I can find it. ETA: Found it. I need it, but am willing to loan it to you for a brief time. PM me if interested. Link from Knight's website: https://www.knightarmco.com/19457/shop/hand-guards/urx4/urx-4-wrench

Wouldn't you also have to mark it with your information (Name, City, State) since if you completed it, you're the manufacturer? Just putting a number on it would imply that Polymer80 (or whomever's info is on the 80% receiver/frame) was the manufacturer when the thing they sold isn't a firearm.

One of the times our house was robbed when I was a kid, about all they didn't take was a TV similar to this and the couch. Good times....

I cheated, looking it up on IMDB. The woman is Carolyn Jones (Morticia Adams). Surprising to read there that she her natural hair color was strawberry blonde. Even with IMDB the other guy took me a while, but it appears to be Dan Terranova.

HELP ME UNDERSTAND.....PLEASE
mike_f replied to JohnSutton1980's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I really like the Holosun models (507 & 509) with the large circles (250(?) MOA). They make it easy to find the dot when the alignment is initially off. But since you already have a red dot, that probably doesn't help. The only thing that helped me was lots of practice. Started with an RMR and initially "cheated" a little by looking at the front sight. After a bunch of repetitions the red dot popped up on the draw. -
Nice! Have you tried viewing it in low light yet? Maybe just the photo, but it looks pretty bright.

Interesting rifle. I remember seeing YouTube videos on Forgotten Weapons and InRangeTV about the CETME-L and them assembling their own rifles.

What's Your Favorite LH Cross Draw Holster?
mike_f replied to Vintagemustangfreak's topic in Hunting and Fishing
For about 20 years I've used an El Paso Saddlery 1920 Crossdraw: https://epsaddlery.com/product/1920-crossdraw-2-to-7-12-barrels/ It's not inexpensive, but it holds up to real use. Mine is scuffed & stained on the exterior, but still works fine. -
There are LED replacements, like this one: https://whatacountry.com/trilux-scope-led.aspx Haven't taken a SUIT apart, but about 15 years ago replaced the illumination in a Soviet 1P29 (which they almost directly copied from the SUIT) and it was just a tritium vial stuck in a blob of wax or putty inside the scope. Someone did a group buy from overseas - probably not feasible now. This is not safety/medical advice, but in a prior life had professional interaction with tritium. The allowable exposure was pretty high and the decontamination was to drink lots of fluids.

I learned many things from the history of shooting info presented in that book. Pretty good fictional story too. When I first picked it up I never thought I'd never make it through an 800+ page book, but info & story were so good that I finished it pretty quickly. Have re-read it a time or two. I picked up a paperback copy from Accurate Press last year(?) since the hard cover copies have in creased in price so much. They are still listing them for sale (as of 5/3/22) for $44: https://stlccw.com/product/unintended-consequences-softcover/ I saw a post at the Indiana Gun Owners forum that said re: Cold Resolve "the publisher picked it up Saturday and it will be published". https://www.indianagunowners.com/threads/john-ross-author-of-unintended-consequences-died-friday-4-30.521111/ I read that John Ross "ended the copyright protection himself in 2009 the text is public domain" in the INGO thread. PDF versions of the book can be found here (and other places): https://booksvooks.com/unintended-consequences-pdf-john-ross.html https://archive.org/details/unintended-consequences-by-John-Ross/mode/2up

Looks like a Cuban flag flying in the back of the car. Also looks like the guy immediately behind the driver is wearing one of these Cuban revolutionary armbands:

It seems like back when the Chinese ammo was still being imported that you couldn't 100% count on the info on the box. There were batches that were supposed to be non-corrosive but weren't, supposed to be lead core (all of it I ever saw has steel jacketed bullet with differing cores) but had steel cores. And vice versa, labeled corrosive but was non-corrosive, etc. I think at times they labeled it however they needed to to get it imported and filled the boxes with whatever was available. The only way to be certain is to section the bullets and do the "nail test" for the primers.

This Brownells video (first in a series) is pretty good showing disassembly: AK 47/74 Firearm Maintenance: Part 1 Disassembly

Armory USA (previously known as Arsenal USA - not related to Arsenal Inc. in Las Vegas) in Houston made good, functional AK receivers and was part/related to Global Trades Co. that, in the early/mid 2000's, imported huge quantities of AK parts/complete kits mainly from Poland and Bulgaria. Global Trades/Arsenal USA/Armory USA made complete rifles with their receivers and also sold bare receivers. It looks like ‘SIA Gardnrvl’ may be Special Interest Arms of Gardnerville, NV. I didn't find much info on them in a quick internet search. I would guess that Special Interest Arms built your rifle on an Armory USA receiver, based on the info you provided. Without more info/photos can't guess where the rest of the parts came from.

I'll take the spam can, per our PM's. Thanks.

I really like the 12.5"-ish AKs with the full length gas systems. I have them in 7.62x39, 5.45x39 and 5.56 NATO. The "Krink", mini Jack, and mini Beryl sized guns, with the significantly shortened gas systems, recoil more sharply and have significantly higher concussion. The recoil isn't painful or even uncomfortable, but the recoil cycle is significantly more violent to the point of affecting follow up shots IMHO.

I'd give Kahrman's comment 100 likes if I could. IMHO this is one of the most useful features of classified ads. Also, I'll add my thanks to TGO David for always working on ways to improve the site.

"Our founders named the product Soylent, in homage to the novel Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison. It’s a dystopian sci-fi novel that explores population growth and world resources. (Yes, we know that there is a Hollywood movie that is an adaptation of the book that involves people. See below.)" Hopefully this is a link to the video: https://vimeo.com/383611340

Did anyone else watch the little cartoon on their website about it being made of plants (patterned after the ending of Soylent Green)? Funny, but I'm not that hungry... yet.

Chewed the fuel lines on my pickup - twice. $800 each time to fix because the only place to get the parts was from Ford. Bought a "Squirrelinator" trap, entice them with the same seed they steal out of the birdfeeders. Have caught 3 at the same time in the trap. https://squirrelinator.com/ Too many pets around us for me to feel safe about putting out poison. The Squirrelinator is a "set & forget" type of live trap. Check it one a day. If something unintended gets trapped, it's easy to release. I've tried peppermint spray, mothballs & ultrasonic sound emitters; and still had squirrels all over my truck.

How about sharing a few Christmas/wintertime memes?

I'm not laughing at your suffering, but that was funny! Good to see you still have your sense of humor. Hope you're feeling better very soon.

Hello! There's not really any public land (like National Forest or BLM land) here like there is out West. I am not aware of any free places to shoot unless you have/know someone with private land. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has public shooting ranges in various locations around the state. https://www.tn.gov/twra/hunting/firing-ranges.html There are 3 that I know of near Nashville: Cheatham Wildlife Management Area range west of Nashville near Ashland City Montgomery County Shooting Complex south of Clarksville: http:// www.shoottn.org Stones River Hunter Education Center between Nashville & LaVergne: 2618 Hobson Pike, Antioch, TN. There are private ranges/clubs to shoot with which I have no first hand experience. Maybe someone else will post info about those.

Another FedEx ground adventure this week. Got the text notification that package for my Wife had been delivered. I happened to be home at the time it was supposedly delivered - outside in the front yard with 2 dogs. So I was pretty sure it wasn't delivered to us. Filed a claim, talked with the FedEx ground driver when I saw him stopped a neighbors house the next day. He found the package - originally delivered a block away from our address. This is the 3rd time this "being a block or 2 off" problem has happened w/FedEx ground in the past couple of years.
