  1. I wear a boxer tactical.  Sturdy and comfy.  http://www.boxertactical.com/zenith-belt
  2. That's some total BS there that folks are stealing your signs.  Granted it is out in the backwoods so very little traffic there.    Good thing is now that I've been there once I won't miss the road again.
  3. I did make the trek out last Saturday to watch the shooting.  I was glad i went.    This was my first IDPA match to attend/watch.  And all it did was make we want to participate :)   There were a ton of great stages...they looked pretty tough but great variation from what I saw.  The turn out seemed pretty solid (again my first visit) and the few folks I talked to were all real friendly. If I had one suggestion as an outsider newbie would be to put a sign or two designating where the driveway is for the range access.  I drove all around that back road area for a solid 30minutes with no luck.  The address took me to a house (across the street) and I kept saying..can't be..there aren't any cars parked here.  I ended up just finally stopping about 1/2 mile down rolled down all the windows and listened for the shooting noise.   Followed my ears and finally noticed the dirt driveway with the cardboard cutout on the tree (very tough to spot). Thanks for the hospitality..hopefully come next year I'll be one of the participants!!
  4. Is this event spectator friendly?  Entry cost? Viewing areas? Any other rules/restrictions to know about?  Start time etc? Thanks
  5. They're not too reluctant.  They have a public recall notice out for the Recoil Spring Assemblies.   http://us.glock.com/customer-service/recoil-spring-exchange
  6. Wow...thanks for the outstanding quick and informative information everyone.  I can see this is shaping up to be a great forum!   I'll definitely shop around local and see what's available.  I won't bother asking where to start on that front...I'll do some searching on the forums here and see what folks have already I'm sure recommended on 100 other threads.   Much appreciated!
  7. Thanks for the quick feedback.  That helps with the clarification.  Maybe I was thinking of local in state purchasing before then in not needing to use an FFL. I'm assuming though that the transaction through the FFL doesn't amount to "registration" of the rifle, or does it?
  8. Please bear with me as I just moved to TN this past week. I'm looking to buy my first lower receiver to start my AR build and will be buying it, most likely, online.  Question is in TN do I need to have it ship to a FFL?  I came from NY so heck up there I couldn't even order ammo let alone a lower to ship to my house. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks Paul
  9. Thanks for all the friendly welcome wishes. We're leaving Rochester (which is in western new york about an hour west of Syracuse and east of Buffalo. We're going to rent an apartment initially (most likely in Smyrna as of now) and then depending on where we land with employment start looking for property in the general vicinity.  One of the big desires of coming down to TN is to get a good size piece of land and be able to shoot on property whenever we want (more or less).  My wife is also an avid ultra trail runner so she likes the thought of being able to run trails on our land as well in the future. On a side note, i looked into getting our concealed carry permits for TN and it seems they don't recognize any of our previous NRA classes (including their safety course and basic pistol classes).  I thought that was odd.  But so be it I guess.  I was told we'll both still need to take the 8hr safety course.  Does anyone have a recommendation on where to take these and/or how often they run etc? Thanks again for the warm welcome! Paul
  10. Hey everyone..just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm currently about 5 weeks out from completing our house sale here in New York and leaving this socialist corrupt state for good.  Can't wait to become a citizen of the great state of Tennessee. My wife and i are moving down to the Nashville area and are really excited.  We're both shooters but have only been shooting for about 5 years now.  My wife actually just got her NRA instructor certification.   I look forward to getting to know some of the group and finding out some places to be able to shoot down around Nashville.  I was planning on getting into IDPA and hope to find some clubs that run those meets this summer. Thanks in advance for any info and hospitality! Paul
