I have the Dead Air Ghost, Silencerco Osprey 45, SWR Trident 9 and a Silencerco Omega 9k. The 9k and Ghost are my latest cans and so far I absolutely love my 9k. I use it mainly on 9mm carbines so the short length and larger OD looks great on it. I tried it briefly on a Glock 19 and the gun didn't cycle though. But I love it as a fixed barrel can on a Scorpion, Uzi pro and X95 SBR.

NFA transfer near Murfreesboro
fstbk65 replied to Hammer's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
On Target is set up with a silencer shop kiosk as well. Tylar is the manager there now and is a nice guy. I've not done any transfers with them though. -
Cool Discreet Rifle/Pistol Cases, CHEAP
fstbk65 replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I ordered 3 cases from them. Two mandolin and a saxophone. The sax case fit my PS90 SBR perfectly as well as my CZ Scorpion with the stock folded and Silencerco Omega 9k installed. One of the Mandiolin cases fit the MP5SD great too. -
I hope to find out soon. I spoke with the designer at the Bullpup Convention last weekend and turns out we both shoot at the same range. We are going to try to get together on a range day.

I have some unanswered questions about it still. It certainly is a unique concept turning the forearm into the can but that brings its own challenges. Like now you are forced to use the silencer as the forearm and hold it. And what happens when you shoot it without the baffles while waiting for your form 4? Does all that blast fill the forearm and vent through the slots where your hand is? How does the baffle stack seal inside the forearm? If it leaves any kind of gap it will still vent back into the forearm to vent onto your hand. I'm sure (hopefully) he found a solution to these concerns before selling them. I just haven't seen any details about it.

The 300blk Tavor was there and we did do a shooting demo of it. Just didn't let everyone shoot it. Hank Strange uploaded a video of it shooting today on YouTube. I can't link it at work.

Verne, Be sure to stop by the Gear Head Works booth and say hi.

I'm bumping this as it is getting closer. There will be full auto's, a 1000 yard range and factory demos.

I guess that did sound confusing. I wasn't trying to take over the meeting. I was just saying that I would be interested in going if I can and would see if my friends would want to too. As far as the range, I wasn't familiar with it or how crowded it can get so I was just mentioning the Manchester range. Now if everyone wants to shoot on private land, I can check with the different land owners that I normally shoot on and see if they care if a larger group shows up. My own land isn't the best for shooting anything more than handguns but some of the land I shoot on can go 1000+ yards. I always have to time my shooting with harvest, livestock and how tall crops are because they are all working farms. I haven't been able to shoot lately because the crops were too high but they are starting to be harvested now. Maybe by next month I'll have some options again. I do not have the time to organize this but I am willing to try to locate some land and be there with my hardware. There would be no amenities and what you bring will be all there is. There are trade offs to not having a built permanent range but I still prefer it IMHO. Any place that I have to shoot is in Coffee County. I-24 between exits #105-114 so it's a ways from Nashville (about an hour).

Looks like this Leader 50 will be at the Bullpup Convention in KY at the end of the month. I will be there already so I'm definitely going to check this out.

I'm late to this thread but here's my input. I have a YHM 7.62 Phantom Osprey 45 Sparrow SS SWR Trident 9 I have friends with; YHM 5.56 Phantom YHM Mite 22LR AAC SDN6 Spectre 22 YHM 45 pistol can (forget the name) We have a truck load of different hosts from 22, 9mm, 45, 223 300blk, 260, 308, 7.62x39...... We get together and shoot on private land all the time so as to not be bothered by unsuppressed shooters. There is also a local range (Manchester, TN) that is usually pretty empty. It isn't the greatest, but it works. The rest of this month is crazy for me. I'm available about half the Sundays starting next month though. To the OP. Getting a 22 can will net you the most fun. Mine was my 3rd can and I shoot it the most out of all of them. I love it. I can fully recommend the Silencerco Sparrow. It is crazy easy to take apart to clean. This is a VERY important feature for a 22lr can. My buddy with the Mite always has trouble trying to take his apart. He ends up soaking it for a few days and every day working the threads back and forth a little. It was cheaper yes, but I'd pay the extra $200 for something that is more durable as insurance against an additional $200 stamp and a year wait. The new Spectre II looks good too.

The guy that posted the link said he has shot it and says the recoil is very mild. I hope so since there isn't a recoil pad on the one in the picture. I've met the guy that owns the company (K&M arms) that will do the actual manufacturing and he is working on his own rendition of the old Bushmaster M17. I'm wondering how similar the two are. I know the M17 also uses a 3 lug bolt. Hopefully one will make it to the bullpup convention in KY next month. They are supposed to have all kinds of bullpups including full auto Tavors there to shoot.

I just saw a facebook post announcing a 50 cal semi auto. Turns out the address is Murfreesboro. I'm in Christiana just a few miles from Barrett and have never heard of them. http://stgeorgearms.com/

I've hit plates at 800 with my 22 - 250. I didn't have that rifle when I went prairie dog hunting though.

I have the 300 WSM and love it. I have a Browning A bolt stalker stainless with a BOSS. Same ballistics as the 300 Win mag but less powder and a short action. Never had trouble finding ammo either. I recently debated the caliber change myself with my 308. I had a Remington 700 SPS and it didn't shoot worth a crap. No matter what ammo or conditions. I decided the 30 cal bullets weren't ideal at longer ranges and started looking at 7mm and 6.5mm ballistics. I went with a 260 Remington for me. The 7mm-08 was another great choice. Don't limit yourself in your options. I wouldn't use the 260 on elk or anything like that, but for deer it'll take them easy. Plus with superior ballistics to the 308, it will take them at farther distances.

Prairie dog shooting is usually done from a portable bench in my experience. I went in WY and the shots start off close until the catch on. The more you shoot, the farther away the prairie dogs still come out of their holes. We started off at about 100 yards and by the time we quit, we were shooting them at about 700. We didn't have the dope or load to reach farther. I will next time though. I use a 22-250 Ackley shooting 55gr bullets at 3750 fps. Custom Remington 700 with a heavy barrel. For real long shots I have a 260 Ackley on a Stiller action. That is good for about 1500 yards.

This isn't in TN but an easy drive for us volunteers. It is in Park City, KY. I've gone the last 2 years and have gotten to see and shoot some really cool stuff. If you have ever wanted to see what a bullpup is all about, you should plan on going. https://www.facebook.com/bullpupconvention?fref=nf

I've got one too. It is an awesome upgrade. I was also one of the ones to get a prototype pack to test. I think there was about 4 or 5 revisions before the production model was finalized. They wanted to get it right before it hit the market to avoid the same disaster that Timney did. Verne is right about Shooting Sight being the first to take on the Tavor project. The other 2 mentioned both said no. I guess they changed their minds after they saw the success of the Tavor but Shooting Sight had already accepted the project and started. I felt the first prototype at the Bullpup Shoot last September and was hooked right then.

Form 1 & Form 4 back in 4 months.
fstbk65 replied to Hozzie's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I run a 7.62 Phantom on all my centerfire rifles. I've compared it to a 5.56 phantom side by side on the same model gun and haven't noticed much difference. I did a video and posted it on YouTube. It's been a few years ago now. -
Full Auto AR experience question
fstbk65 replied to Ugly's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Just do it! I've shot MP5's, M16's, UMP-40, 1919 belt fed, M1A1 Thompson, 9mm Steyr Aug, P90, Uzi, M14, AK's and who knows what else. Yes it costs a little but if you're just doing it once it's worth it for sure. I'm lucky, I get to shoot with some of the local PD sometimes. I let them shoot my stuff and they let me shoot their stuff. -
I looked into a 300WM when trying to decide on a long range rifle build. When I started comparing ballistics and such I kept coming back to the 260/6.5mm caliber. I ended up with a 260AI that can shoot as far as a 300WM but do it in a short action burning less powder. It takes a 200gr + bullet to equal the BC of the 139-140gr 260 bullets in BC. It takes a 300WM to push a pill that big to velocities that I can get with my 260AI. It was a no brainer for me. I think the military is just stuck on the 30 caliber round. They should consider changing everything to a 6.5mm IMHO.

I am very interested in this. With all the trouble with MP5 clones, I have been lacking for a nice delayed action 9mm carbine to use as a suppressor host. I drive by that MPX billboard the Outpost has everyday and drool every time. Sig sued the BATFE over their ruling of the "flash hider". I'm not surprised really. When I first saw it I thought "no way will this be legal" about that 16" version. I would just assume have the short barrel pistol version with an arm brace I think. Then I can just use the 3 lug attachment for my can.
