  1.   Lol, ya my wife heard about it on his show too (myself as well) and asked about it.       18 pounds?? Good gosh.
  2. I moved from Chattanooga in April, and the last time I was at prentice cooper was probably last September or so. I didn't frequent too often because of the scary things I heard, saw and then experienced, and it did get really busy sometimes - but was hit or miss though, sometimes it would be packed, other times just a small gathering.   It is a cool place that is fun and best of all free but not too sure if I'd go back now for safety's sake. They should really charge like $5-10 per person per day and have a range officer to watch things. It is the only free place I knew of in Chattanooga.   They had redone the shooting bays, at least on the pistol side. With nice wooden table tops/dividers for each bay, and had the rules posted at each bay (A VERY GOOD MOVE). The pistol bays are at 3 different ranges, just depends on which target wall you get in front of. 1 at prob 5-7 yards, 1 at prob 10, and the other at maybe 15-20 yards tops. There are about 4 bays for each target wall I think. Usually where I shot just depended on what was open, or opened up. The rifle ranges are at 100 and 50 yards if I remember correctly, and there's lots of bays for each.   You can get on their?/some website and find out a little more info, which is a good idea before you load up and head there because they'll close it off to public some weekends for hunting and other events.
  3. Heard about this on the radio too, glad to finally put eyes on it. I can't really see a need for something like this, but sure enough there are those that will want one.   I can't think of any advantages over any of the common carry pistols - a revolver, or small semi-auto.   Ok, I guess it does beat a derringer (if it proves to be reliable), . . . a little, . . . . although probably actually not as accurate.
  4. Not too bad, I've done better . . . . . . .                                                       :lies:   Seriously though, Pretty darn impressive. Perfect practice makes perfect. I get quite inspired by his videos.
  5. Sweet! Was wondering when we'd get this started, now to find some time to get to the range.
  6. As long as there are still people standing in a line at wee hours of the morning, its not better in my book.   Until I can randomly walk in to any give gun store/department and grab a few boxes, everybody else can have that crap - I'll be shooting my 9mm.    But I will be dreaming of spending $20 and having 22lr to shoot for hours, the way it used to be.
  7. Very nice looking Glock, congrats.
  8. Had a great day, even in the heat. Shot some fun, challenging stages with some good folks. Looking forward to next time.
  9. Since I started rolling my own, every round gets a quick look over before it goes in the box to be shot. Takes maybe 10 min per 100 rnds, but I feel its WAY worth it.   I liked doing it so much, I also (usually, at least) visually inspect factory ammo before it goes in my range bag to be shot. Just a good habit that takes a few minutes, that can save a whole lot of trouble.
  10. :screwy:............ :poop:
  11. :bored:  "Substantial funds were poured into testing, all because the military was finally ready to acknowledge what firearms aficionados have known for years: although the 9mm is a capable round and all rounds work only if applied properly to the target, .45 ACP is, quite simply, a one-shot stopper."   :shake:
  12. Fantastic day/match yesterday! Thanks for all you people who put these matches together :hat:
  13. I purchased some cheap brass punches from harbor freight, they're super big but still work.   And, yes, the brass does mark on the sight, but then cleans right off.
  14. Think I'll be coming out.   This will be my first run at USPSA, only shot IDPA so far. Anything different gear wise I should know about? I think I've got a little grasp on what some of the differences are, but anything major I should know, anyone feel free to educate me -.
  15. Nice review.   I'm in the exact same boat - I don't like or hardly ever pocket carry, but it is a needed option sometimes. I looked at them for the same holster for my LCR. Just haven't gotten around to ordering one yet. They also make a belt holster for phones with the magpul case that I really want.   Their not the only ones with the thumb push tab, but one of few - its just about a necessity for quick, sure pocket draw IMO. More pocket holsters should have them.
  16. Heard about the free range time, thought about checking it out.
  17. Yep, just moved, only across the state and that was enough for me.   It sucks.
  18. Didn't know about those places yet, thanks for the info.   Well, if it's all still obtainable I'll get it going again.
  19. So, how's the powder availability now? Haven't been hunting down supplies since I packed up everything for our move almost 2 months ago. Thinking about setting the bench back up and start cranking em out again. But I remember pistol powder being almost impossible to come by. Really won't be any point setting up if powder or other components are really hard to come by. I've checked gunbot to gauge it and seem some pistol powder available, but I much rather buy in person.   Only loading 9mm right now.    So is it still rare to find powder?
  20. Welcome to TGO, a fairly new member here as well.   Have a CZ P-01 myself, always lusting for a few more CZs.   Congrats on your upcoming retirement. More time to brings some guns back to life, huh?
  21.   Wow, that's cool, I'll have to go check it out.   Something would prob be wrong if I didn't get at least on procedural during a match, lol.   Well, not much more than I usually pay, and I'll save some gas not driving way out, plus its a chance to do some real shooting during the week!
  22. Welcome to TGO.         If you can get out to any local shooting matches, that's pretty much exactly how it is.   I haven't gotten much into the competing side of it, I just go for some real shooting practice and to hang out with like minded, gun loving folks. You won't find a more welcoming group of people. I waited until I thought I was "good enough", I regret not getting out there sooner. Every match or event I've gone to I learned a ton, had a blast and met really great people.
  23. Not a big M&P fan, but good for the shield - should have always been an option.
