Legal question? Derek Chauvin: 3 convictions?
Grayfox54 replied to Grayfox54's topic in General Chat
Ok, I guess I understand it. But I still don't think its right. -
Ok this ain't about the trial, Floyd, or anything political at all. So just don't go there. My question is just how can a person be tried for the death of one person and end up convicted on THREE separate death related charges? Second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. I would think the jury could pick one based on the evidence. But how can a person be guilty of three different kinds of murder when only one person died? Somebody explain this to me?

MSM is playing up every multiple shooting they can find. On the top of my news feed this morning there was a story of 5 people shot in a Shreveport drive by last night. And yesterday it was several people shot somewhere else. Over the last week or so it seems like every shooting anywhere in the country that involves more than two victims is making the national news. Also noteworthy is at the end of every one of these stories, they make a point to mention a previous shooting and the recent rash of shootings with the Fed Ex and Texas things being real popular. What MSM isn't saying is that this level of violence is perfectly normal in many of these places. Crime and violence in this nation is out of control. Multiple people are shot and killed every single day. Normally, any of these stories would have made the local news headlines, a follow up story for a couple of days and then faded from the news cycle and forgotten until new facts come to light or an arrest is made. But because Joe is pushing his gun control agenda, these stories are making the national news headlines and tied together to further scare the sheep who want to take our guns. The sad fact is that to the Antis its a national tragedy that deserves major headlines. In Shreveport, it was just another weekend.

I've noticed this recently also. I've not only seen people in mask mandated stores without them, but they're ignoring social distancing rules as well. People are piling up in the checkout lines right behind each other just like the old days. I guess its due to the vaccinations. People are mistakenly thinking they're safe now.

Just saw on the internet news page that everybody's favorite Cockwomble, Dr Fauci, has just lent his expertise to another issue saying that gun violence is a serious national health issue and citing recent "Mass Shootings" as a serious problem. Somehow, I never did expect him to be on our side.

One of the miraculous things about the internet is that no matter what your opinion or point of view is that somewhere out there is an "expert" who will support your own previously drawn conclusions. It doesn't matter if you follow main stream thinking or if your opinions are somewhere out on the edge of the galaxy. Its simple enough to find "data" from "accredited sources" to prove your own opinions. After all, its on the internet, so it must be true.

I have always strongly cautioned my sons and friends who know of my collection to NEVER mention it to other people. Y'all know how the rumor mill works. You tell someone, they tell someone, who tells someone else, etc and so on. Each time the story changes a little bit. By the time it gets around enough, all of a sudden I'm a 90 year old man in poor health who has a gun collection worth a million dollars. Some BG hears it and decides you would be and easy target. I don't need that in my life. While I may show off some of my stuff here and on other gun boards, I will never reveal the full nature of my collection. Hell, we all do it to some degree. We wanna show off our latest acquisition or an old classic. Its part of what our internet community is all about. However, I have actually seen people on forums post a complete list of everything they own. Some of them quite large. That won't be me.

I've never really been very fond of IWB. But I do use it on occasion. But regardless of how I carry, I always position the gun just behind the hip bone at about 3:30/ 4:00. This is what works best for me. YMMV.

I really don't shop at my local Academy store much. But when I do go there, I've never had any problems. Have you checked with the Academy home office to see if this is, in fact, Corporate policy? You'd be surprised at some of the rules store managers make up for their personal little kingdom. If the manager is anti-gun, they can make all kinds of restrictions completely on their own. Or it could just be a manager who misinterprets corp policy. I remember a few years ago a couple of Wal-Mart stores caught a bunch of flack for posting "No Guns" signs. Turns out that it was all the manager's idea and when corporate found out about it, they made them take the signs down.

Ah, so that's it! I saw the movie many years ago when my sons were little. Just didn't remember that part. Mystery solved!

Trying to get the shots in Shelby County at the beginning was a total mess. But since the State stepped in about 6-8 weeks ago, its been a breeze. Quick, easy on-line sign up. Plenty of Vaccine, plenty of appointments and less than an hour to actually get the shots. I had no trouble at all getting both of my shots. It seems the problem here now is that although the system is running incredibly smoothly, people just aren't signing up. Only a small percentage of those eligible are actually taking the vaccine. County leaders are strongly encouraging people to get the vaccine. Also in Shelby County, the number of active cases is slowly creeping back up. But there hasn't been a major surge as some places have had recently. We were down to about 1,000 active cases a few weeks ago, but now up to 1451 as of today.

It was a shooting at a school. The details don't really matter. Its the location that makes the news. Although still new, even the CBS Evening news did a small mention of it, but had no details. My guess its its just an argument type thing between two individuals. I'll also guess the wounded Officer just happened to be there when it happened. The same type of thing that happens everyday in cities all over the country.

Permitless carry: I'm still confused?
Grayfox54 replied to Grayfox54's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I've read that. No help. -
leafinthewind, If you haven't figured it out yet, if you ask for opinions on this board, you will get 'em. We got quite a few very opinionated, grumpy old farts (including me) that will tell you exactly what they think. Not all these opinions will be what you want or expect. Actually, I don't personally know anybody who has done this. I sure haven't. But I guess I'm one of those evil hoarders as I've made it a practice to keep a good stock of ammo and components on hand for many years now. I actually have plenty to ride out the shortage. However, I'm not trying to sell it to the unprepared at scalper prices either. No offense, but I suggest you grow yourself some thicker skin.

Permitless carry: I'm still confused?
Grayfox54 replied to Grayfox54's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Something like that is exactly what I'm looking for. But it doesn't seem to exist. -
I've read the articles, searched the web and I still can't find a straight answer. Exactly where can can an enhanced handgun permit holder carry that a citizen can't under permitless carry? Exactly where is permitless carry not allowed? I know about parks and greenways, but where else? I found and understand all the rules and qualifications for permitless carry. But nowhere do I find any specific information on where it is or isn't allowed. I really think this needs to be cleared up before someone accidentally gets themselves into trouble.

I got this story in an e-mail from Guns America. It brings up some interesting questions. Hunter Biden Incident Shows that Gun Laws are for the Little People
-
I could be wrong, but that looks more like a display of Police captured weapons rather than a gangster showing off.

I'm thinking Clyde Barrow. He was known to be quite fond of BARs, sawed off shotguns and 1911s.

If you don't need them, pass. Let this guy rip off somebody else. I can only see people in dire need resorting to such extortion. I certainly wouldn't have any part of it. While I doubt that prices will ever go back to what they once were, I have no doubt that the supply will eventually catch back up and prices will go down.

Another Mass Shooting Last Night.........
Grayfox54 replied to Krull's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yet another in Texas today. Story Here This one seems to be a work place related event. Details are still sketchy at this time, but LEOs did say they believe the shooter was an employee. Any other year this sort of thing would make local news for a couple of days and quietly go away. of course with Biden starting his big gun control push, MSM is gonna milk these stories for all they can get. Personally, I think the Covid has a lot to do with these recent shootings. This last year or so has been tough on everybody. A lot tougher on some. I think some folks are starting to lose it big time and take out their anger and frustrations on innocent people.
