It turned out to be a non-event here in the west end. The storm turned east and all we got was some light rain. How'd you folks in the middle fair? It seems y'all got most of it.

I sure didn't see that coming. Never would have imagined it in a million years. Liberals? What can I say?

Current local TV forecast has it hitting somewhere around New Orleans as a Cat 4. Then the remnants running up the Mississippi and hitting West TN starting Sunday night and going through Tuesday. Calling for winds up to 35 mph and possibly 4-5" of rain here. I hope they're wrong.

I was a truck and equipment mechanic for 42 years. Happily retired now. It was a good solid career, but was hard on my body. Sorry, not interested. -

Lots of music legends passing lately. Saddens the memories of my youth. -
Just be patient guys. The Russians will just ship ammo in bulk to some other country, who in turn will repackage it under a different name and ship it to the U.S. It'll be back before you know it.

What I have is a "Get Home" bag. Its designed to get me back home if I'm caught out somewhere when SHTF. Pistol, ammo, Knife, socks, 4 MREs that I can stretch for up to a week or more, two canteens plus a life straw, first aid kit, poncho, paracord, lighters and the all important toilet paper. There is also a blanket wrapped in a piece of plastic for shelter. But that may be dumped depending on weather and need. The whole kit fits inside a small backpack. Zip lock bags are excellent for keeping small items together and they're waterproof.

It seems the republicans/conservatives are mostly the ones refusing the vaccine. They're also the ones filling up hospitals and dying. If this keeps up, the democrats won't have to cheat in the next election.

The old democrat switcheroo. Act like your punishing the bad guys when you're really pushing your gun control agenda.

I agree that we do have the best health care. The best doctors, nurses and technicians in the world. The problem is the cost of this care. That cost is controlled by huge corporations that knowingly bloat these costs for huge profits. They don't give a damn about the patients, only maximum and bloated profits.

My big gripe is the cost of prescription drugs. When you make a pill for $.05 and sell it for $10.00, that's just plain wrong. Yeah, I know all about the cost of research, but many of these medicines have been in common use for many years. They paid for themselves decades ago. So why are they still so expensive? After my little event back in 2019, my Cardiologist put me on Xarelto just as a precaution. Even with good insurance, this is expensive stuff. There is no generic either. Then two things happened. 1. I fell into the medicare "Donut hole". Basically, that means that they had a limit on how much they would spend on this stuff and I hit it. Rather quickly I might add. 2. Due to the high cost of Xarelto, my insurance just decided to drop it all together. The monthly cost of this one pill jumped to $280 for 30 pills. Lucky for me, I had a long talk with my Doctor and he decided I didn't really need it after all. My oldest son is diabetic. He has a good job and makes good money. Yet he struggles due to the high cost of insulin. Dammit! The government gives free meds and needles to junkies. Why the Hell do legitimately sick, but productive citizens have to suffer? The cost of insulin seriously needs some government control. But big pharma OWNS Congress, so don't expect any change. The cost of insulin amounts to a huge racket!

I ran across this one yesterday. Seems a Seagull decided to raid a goose nest. It didn't end well for the gull. Nope it ain't Disney out in the wild. Mamma Nature is a cold hearted witch!
-
Never underestimate nature. Animals can do some serious damage. I used to know a TWRA Officer who had a scar from the right corner of his mouth all the way to back of the jawbone. He had a run in with a young buck who caught him with a hoof.

A lot of Covid survivors are gonna end up bankrupt.

Moped is correct. Cimarron specializes in Cowboy Action Shooting guns. Their 1911 is a copy of the original for use in "Wild Bunch" matches. Its not what you're looking for. I also have a Norinco in my safe. Its getting kinda hard to find one that's unmolested. Many were used as a base gun for some fine custom jobs. I decided to leave mine original.

Apple to start scanning thru iPhone pictures and texts

Not necessarily. Just be smart about what you say. The feds are used to pro-gun groups and our talk. They know that 99.9% of us are relatively harmless and basically good citizens. The spy bots, web crawlers or what ever they're called these days look for certain combinations of words. if you say something about violence along with specific names or places, you can bet you'll get noticed. Just don't do that. -

Privacy hasn't existed since the Cold War. Anytime they want .gov can peak at you, your phone, your computer, etc. They can track your movements within a few feet. The trick is to just stay off their radar. Be the gray man. But if they ever notice you, God help ya. My phone spends about 95% of the time sitting on the dresser in the bedroom. I'm good with that. -
I've got two Rock Islands and have been very happy with them. However, if you want a better gun at not much more money, I recommend Springfield Armory.
-
Maybe its just here. Could be entirely up to the local manager for all I know. But its getting worse and the vast majority of the people who are dying now are un-vaccinated. Taking the vaccine or not is a personal choice. I can respect that. But this is a major HEALTH issue. Over 600,000 Americans are already dead. Why are so many trying to make it political? I'm all for freedom, but it doesn't matter if you're dead.
-
Didn't specify. So I guess its everybody. A few weeks ago it was masks for the un-vaccinated. A couple of weeks ago the mask signs disappeared. Now its back to everybody. From what I've been seeing on the news, I'm expecting another lock down soon.

Just got back from a quick trip to my local Kroger. The "Mask Required" signs are back up. Get ready for another round folks.
