  1. Welcome aboard from a neighbor. Don't worry, we won't hold being from Mississippi against you.
  2. Looks pretty good. With a MSRP of $528 it would be a good way for Hi-Power fans to get into the game. As for me, I have 3 variations of the HP already. I don't need one, but I won't say I'm not subject to the occasional spur of the moment buy if I see one and like it.
  3. Yep, the Happy Chappy! C battery 2nd Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery, 2nd Armored Division, Fort Hood, Texas. 1972-74 "If it flies, it DIES!" Basically, its Sidewinder fired from a ground launcher mounted in a tracked weapons carrier. Like I said, I was a mechanic. When the missile boys played, I was pretty much just a grunt on the perimeter. But I did drive the M578 Tracked Recovery Vehicle and thus, my main weapon was Ma Deuce!
  4. You got the lack of transparency thing right. But they also don't care what the members think. I hadn't been happy with "Compromise Wayne" for a long time, but when news of his shenanigans came out, I tried to speak up. Oddly enough, NRA's e-mail suddenly went down and phone calls only got recordings. The NRA leadership has completely lost touch with the membership and don't seem interested in what we have to say. They have become just like the politicians they are supposed to be fighting.
  5. Depending on how much trouble it would be, I'd want it back just to be a PITA to New York. My FIL was the head of security for a local grocery store chain. On day many years ago a real pro decided to rob his store. The guy had done his homework and knew who my FIL was. He came in, got a cart and proceeded to act like a regular customer. Came up behind my FIL and without any warning knocked him out cold! He took a 2" Model 10 from my FIL, went up front and robbed the store. Some 20 years later, FIL got a call from the Sheriff's Dept saying his gun had been recovered. He got it back and it was in surprisingly good shape.
  6. When the OP originally posted this, I was well aware of how badly he had dropped the value on the gun. However, its a family heirloom, he's not planning to sell and he's happy with it. So I didn't say anything. I have several classic old guns in my collection that have been refinished. The truth is that I wouldn't have been able to afford them if they hadn't been.
  7. When at Hood I was in an Air Defense Unit. Chaparral missiles. On FTXs it was quite normal for various aircraft to pretend to attack us while we pretended to shoot them down. Of course, I was just a mechanic, so I had no real part in the fun and games. While the missile crews were busy, the rest of us just had to deal with the noise. What was interesting was when the Air Force came to play. Fighter jets on strafing runs scare the chit outta ya!
  8. As a young troop in 2nd Armored at Ft. Hood in 1972-74, we shared the post with the 1st Air Cavalry. Helicopters constantly in the air. When we'd go play in the field, they'd come visiting just to harass us. Especially at night when we were trying to get some sleep. At tree top level with those big searchlights. But they were just doing their thing like we were doing ours. We learned how to deal with them. Take a spent blank cartridge case and shove it into the flash hider of your rifle. Use a live blank to launch it. Bounce a few of those off the main rotor and the pilots would find somebody else to go annoy. I once saw the entire 1st Cav in the air and passing over at one time. Helicopters in all shapes and sizes, the sky was full of 'em! Must of taken a full half hour or more for all of them to pass over us. Made a lasting impression on this young soldier.
  9. Not at all surprised. All the key board members are WLPs cronies and in just as deep as he is. I've been an annual member for almost 40 years. Every time I start thinking about a life membership, WLP does something else to piss me off. So I just keep taking it year by year. We need the NRA. They're the big kid on the block. But I'm not at all happy with the current leadership. The other day I got a letter begging for more money again. I wrote on it in big bold letters: "Until Wayne LaPierre and all his cronies are gone, you will not get one extra cent from me". Then I mailed it back to them. I doubt it'll do much good, but at least they know how I feel. I recently read somewhere in gun news (Guns America?) that the Charles Cotton, President of the NRA, is quietly negotiating with the courts to re-organize the NRA which would include dissolving the entire current board of directors including WLP. I can only hope this is true.
  10. Its a $20 holster. You get what you pay for.
  11. Its been getting TV news coverage in Memphis. But nobody is making a big deal out of it. A quick story lasting maybe a minute and then they move on. A crooked politician in Memphis is hardly news worthy.
  12. IDK, maybe? Of course the gangsters are an innovative bunch. I'm sure they'll just open chapters in the surrounding towns as they grow. Maybe the Crips and Bloods will be buying houses in Stanton?
  13. Nimble little minx, isn't she?
  14. Very sorry to hear that. I lost my wife almost 11 years ago. Similar circumstances. Although she had been sick for 8 years, we thought we still had a good bit of time together. But one night she went to bed and simply didn't wake up the next morning. I understand how you feel. If you need someone to talk about it with, feel free to PM me.
  15. That's the point. They want their peaceful, perfect world so badly that they're willing to force it on or kill non-believers to get it.
  16. The plant will be located in Haywood County about 40 miles northeast of Memphis. But Memphis politicians are more than ready to take the credit. But still, Its great news for our state.
  17. How the Hell do ya pronounce that??? I think that sword is wrong. I don't think there's that much metal in a AR.
  18. Thank you. I've been accumulating S&Ws for about 40 years now. In all that time, you do manage to get lucky once in a while.
  19. Granted that they probably won't sell many electric vehicles here. But they are quite popular and growing in the "Woke" States. I believe that Ford and Tennessee will be more than happy to take their money.
  20. Here's the rest of my .44 Special family. the 1st & 2nd models have already been covered. I also have all three barrel lengths (3.5. 4 & 6.5") of the limited production Model 24-3 reintroduced in 1983. That was another quest completed. A Model 696 No Dash made in 1997. This is a L-frame 5 shooter. 44 Special. One of the last of the old style S&Ws before they went to MIM parts. The 696-1 and -2 had the new MIM parts making the No Dash version very desirable and hard to find. And every .44 Special lover should have a Charter Arms Bulldog just because.
  21. That's a good start. Notice I said start. There will be more.
  22. I've been saying this ever since DeJoy was appointed. His real goal is to destroy USPS and most of Congress fully supports it.
