  1. I guess after the I-95 fiasco everybody is in CYA mode. We have a chance of snow or freezing rain forecast here for tonight. Expected to arrive somewhere around 3:00 am. The ticker at the bottom of the TV is already announcing school, govt offices and business closures for tomorrow and Friday . The first snow flake hasn't fallen yet. I reckon in the morning we'll see if its a smart move or not. BTW: I did my grocery shopping yesterday. I have plenty of milk and bread.
  2. I'd like to see actual dimensions on it and how it physically compares to the .32 acp and other cartridges.
  3. There's been quite a bit of discussion on other forums about this. The main question seems to be why? Why another caliber? Why now, when common ammo is so hard to find? What were they thinking? Nobody seems to know. Formal introduction and much more info is expected to take place at the Shot Show in just a couple of weeks. Same to me. But I also think the .32acp is a vastly underrated cartridge. Speculation so far is that its designed for the currently popular small or pocket sized pistols. Apparently you can squeeze one or two more rounds into the same size magazine as a 9mm. I guess everything is about capacity these days. My real interest is how's the recoil? If its more comfortable to shoot than a standard 9mm or a blowback .380, I can see a market with women, elderly or disabled people. Here a higher preforming cartridge with lower felt recoil would be very popular. If the cartridge proves to be decent, I can see it being readily adaptable in most any existing .380 or .32 firearms such as the Walther PP Series. Personally, I'd like to see it in something like the Colt Government .380/Mustang or Browning 1911-380.
  4. I find that hard to believe. When I was working for my city, every year along about November we were mounting salt spreaders and stockpiling salt and sand. Even though the nasty stuff usually didn't hit until around January or February, we prepared well in advance. Virginia may have been caught with their pants down, but surely they would have had equipment and supplies in place. If not, heads need to roll.
  5. I saw an article where U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia was stuck in this mess. He left Richmond at around noon Monday for the two hour drive to D.C. He tweeted after 19 hours that he had been in touch with the Governor. I'm guessing he ain't happy.
  6. The gun world is full of rumors. Most are unfounded or outright lies. I've heard nothing at all about this until right now. Don't feed the troll.
  7. I bought my older son one of these when he was about 9-10. We saw it in "Predator". I think I liked playing with it as much as he did.
  8. Forget drinks. I wanna cookie!
  9. All we got was a fair dusting. 75 degrees one day and snow the next. Currently 32 degrees here.
  10. Ammoseek.com is your friend.
  11. Some smart person or company should make some sort of candy/snack bar/cookie in thin. green squares and call it Soylent Green. They'd make a fortune!
  12. Shhhhhhh! Be quiet! Maybe 2022 will just go away.
  13. Y'all know my love of lever guns. I honestly don't know why, but lever actions have become very popular and much more expensive in the last few years. I'd love to add a Winchester 73 clone to my collection. But every one I see is priced well over $1000. There's currently two levers on the Memphis Armslist. A Winchester 94 Wrangler in .30-30 @ $1000 and a NIB Marlin .357 SS @ $1290. . I'd like to have the Winchester, but that's more than I can spend for it.
  14. I'm like you. I want one, but can't find one. Everything I've read about them has been positive. That includes posts on various gun boards by people who have actually gotten one. However, I do want to get one in my own hands to see for myself.
  15. To me, she'll always be that feisty, foul mouthed old lady feeding the crocs in Lake Placid. She was great in that part. Lots of people were planning big things for her birthday. A real shame she won't get to see it. RIP Betty and thanks for all the laughs.
  16. I don't see a problem here. What are you talking about?
  17. He probably won't be charged. But he will be punishing himself for the rest of his life.
  18. The gang life starts early. Older members recruit juveniles to do their dirty work because that know if they get caught they'll probably get off with little or no time. These two were stupid enough to show off on social media. They got themselves caught.
  19. Back when I was a boy, every kid had a bunch of toy guns and just about every store carried caps. I well remember the days of "Cowboys and Indians" and playing "War". I remember being about 5 when for Christmas I got a full Cowboy outfit . Hat. shirt, boots and a double holstered pair of cap guns just like that. Anybody remember the Mattel Fanner 50 and Lever guns that had Greenie Stick 'em Caps and "Shootin' Shells"? We had tons of toy guns back in the 1960s. Mattel's Tommy Gun was very popular. I had a toy Browning 1919 machine gun that ran on 2 "D" cell batteries and made sounds when fired. One of my friends had a spring powered Bazooka that fired plastic rockets. Military guns were just as popular as the cowboy stuff. And yet, none of us grew up to be mass murderers. Imagine that.
  20. He has a much higher opinion of McDonalds than I do. I think that S&W is closer to a nice sit down restaurant like Longhorn Steak House. I also think much higher of Springfield Armory. I ate at Panera Bread once. Never bothered to go back. I own a bunch of Springfields. Kimbers are overrated and over priced. I like IHOP and their prices are reasonable. No comparison at all.
  21. Interesting, but I can't say I completely agree with him.
  22. Savage is apparently doing well enough that they can increase their product line and try new things. That's called innovation. Good for them for at least trying.
  23. UPDATE: the sick young lady was sent home today. They kept her overnight, pumped her full of meds and gave her more to take home. She feels like crap, but apparently isn't sick enough to take up valuable bed space. That's a good sign. BTW: she was vaccinated.
