TN Permit Holders to be classed as LEOs?
Grayfox54 replied to Grayfox54's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Please clarify. Exactly where would a EHP holder be able to carry that we currently can't? Would or would not that include privately owned and posted property? Specifically stores, restaurants, sports stadiums, concert halls and other public venues. -
TN Permit Holders to be classed as LEOs?
Grayfox54 replied to Grayfox54's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
AH! And there's the rub. We are NOT LEOs. I have no desire to be a de facto LEO. I don't see how our 2nd Amendment rights can over rule a property owner's rights. Schools, government buildings and such, yes. But if a private property owner chooses to post their property, No. Their house, they make the rules. Frankly, I don't see any way in hell this will pass. -
I just learned about this on another forum I visit. It appears that two bills have been introduced in the State Legislature that would classify Enhanced Handgun Permit Holders as Law Enforcement Officers. As I understand it, the purpose is to remove some of the restrictions on where we can carry. Basically, EHP holders would be able to carry anywhere LE are allowed. While I like that idea, there also appears to be much confusion about it as well. Honestly I just don't see this as passing. Can anybody provide more info? Just what do these bills really mean? Permit Holders to be LEO

Good for you Capbyrd. The Scouts always need good MB counselors. The fact is that for most Boy Scouts, the only chance they ever get to go for Rifle or shotgun is at Summer Camp. I often did the classroom teaching. I don't know if the requirements have changed, but for the actual range shooting, the rifle or Shotgun merit badge counselor had to be an NRA Certified Instructor. Fortunately, for my troop, we knew one who was happy to help. That's why we could teach those merit badges on our own.

Justice Department sues Missouri over new gun law

Hang 'em at noon and let 'em swing until sundown. Let everybody get a good look at what happens when you stupidly take another life. -
During my time as a Boy Scout leader in the 90s, our troop did two special camping trips each year. One to earn the shotgun merit badge and one for rifle. It was always our policy that parents were always welcome to come along on any camping trip. On these two trips we often had just as many parents as boys. I'm not sure if anybody even still teaches these merit badges today.

Here's my 1943 Inland along with a few friends.

Aw, what the Hell. I'll post my tacti-cool Carbine. Its a 1943 Standard Products rifle. I had to replace the barrel a couple of years ago due to a cracked gas cylinder. The new barrel is a 1970s replacement. No longer being original I brought it into the 21st Century as a shooter. Don't worry, My 1943 Inland is just like Uncle Sam issued it.

Beware of sensitive deliveries via FedEx...

I had the same thing happen to me last year. Heard the knock on the door and the guy was leaving as I opened it. I also asked about the signature and got the same response. Good thing I was home. -
The days of cheap Mil-surps is gone. Never to return. My late friend had about a dozen SKSs and I think it was 6 Mosins. He didn't pay more than $100 for any of them. When we sold them in 2017 prices started at $250 and went up depending on what it was. One Yugo SKS brand new, still in cosmoline went for $450. And I had them marked low for a quick sale. BTW: sold them all in one weekend at a gun show.

These days a decent M1 Carbine starts at $1000 and just goes up from there. As for where to find, well good luck with that. They just don't exist as plain Mil-Surps anymore. Nobody stocks them. You're gonna have to either watch the auction sites or just get lucky. I have two of them and love those little rifles.

Absolutely. They're great guns. But there are just so many other options these days. Besides, younger folks don't even consider revolvers these days. Only us dinosaurs still believe in wheel guns.

This one snuck up on me. I didn't even know about it until I happened to see their ad on Armslist this afternoon. This one is by Great American. Its at the Shriners Temple on Shelby Oaks. I've been to their shows before and honestly wasn't impressed. I don't need much right now, so I think I'll let this one pass. Just throwing this out there if anybody in the area wants to go.

I only own one firearm that has a brace and it came from the factory that way. I doubt it'll ever be a problem. I don't own any of that other stuff. FRTs, 80% or such. But I don't want to see any of that stuff banned either. It would be just one more step in the plan to destroy our rights. I think the most likely outcome will be the ban of any new production of these items. But the stuff already out there will be allowed to stay.

The vast majority of .38 carriers go for the small frame snubbies due to concealability and/or light weight. Larger revolvers have more or less fallen out of favor. There's just too many small semi-autos these days plus the current focus is on ammo capacity. I rarely carry a 4". However, my favorite carry revolvers are 3" S&W K-frame (medium frame) guns. I have 3" Models 10 & 13 that a carry at times. Although the Model 13 is actually a .357, its usually loaded with .38 Special +P ammo.

We've know or at least suspected this for years. ATF has finally admitted it. ATF has 1 Billion gun records

It sure is pretty, I'll give it that. But I think I'll stick with my plain old P-226.

Pardon me, but I do believe that's a Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket Pistol. Excellent little guns. If I didn't already have one, I'd jump all over that.

So sad to leave young children behind.

Memphis and North Mississippi, get ready for power outages
Grayfox54 replied to Dirtshooter's topic in General Chat
My neighborhood has underground utilities, but its fed by poles just a block away. Doesn't take much to put my whole area out. Day 6 and my disabled friend is still without power. A neighbor of her's is keeping her informed. Apparently its just her street and a couple in the immediate area that are out. Maybe 50 houses total. Right now MLG&W has bigger fish to fry. They won't even give an estimate as to when it'll be restored.
