  1. Check into Jasper engines for a long block. We used them back when I was turning wrenches for a living.
  2. About damned time! I never did like the M-16 or the 5.56 cartridge. Sig makes excellent firearms. I'm glad they got the contract. I think I heard ( correct me if I'm wrong) that these weapons will be built in the U.S. Good for our economy as well. My understanding is that the 6.8 cartridge is on par with the .270 Winchester. A classic hunting cartridge capable of taking most any game in North America. It should serve our troops well.
  3. RK puts on some decent gun shows in Tennessee. Size just sorta depends on the location and how many sign up. I'm partial to the Jackson shows. Much better than Memphis. Check their site to see what's near you. RK Gun Shows
  4. I WANT ONE! But nobody around here has any. Meanwhile, I'll just have to console myself with these.
  5. Garufa is dead on. No matter what FN chooses to name their new pistol, its NOT a Hi-Power. it something completely different with a classic, but mis-leading, name.
  6. In the news this morning that a 21 year old man has been arrested and charged with 3 counts of malice murder. I won't mention the scumbag's name. No mention of what happened to the guns stolen.
  7. Busy place! My ad gets pushed to page two in no time.
  8. Why is anybody surprised? ATF is nothing more than the legal arm of gun control. The real problem isn't the average field agent, its upper management. Many of which are brown nosers or political appointees. They have a clear agenda. To destroy the 2nd amendment. and disarm the American people. They "interpret" laws according to the political winds and personal gain. They aren't law enforcement, they're politicians of the worst sort. Lies, deception and propaganda are the tools of their trade. Nothing is going to change until we get a real pro-gun President with the balls to go in and clean house. I ain't holding my breath waiting for that to happen.
  9. I'd love to see some pics of your set up.
  10. Bump. Geez.... pushed all the way to the bottom in one day.
  11. Stefanie Powers. She starred in the spin-off series The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. It only lasted one season.
  12. Reply sent.
  13. Don't know how I missed this earlier. Very nice! Looks like you're off to a good start.
  14. And yet again, at the wrong end of the state for me.
  15. Yeah, I kinda think that's what the Grand Jury in Texas was thinking too.

    Carry History

Way back when I started carrying, permits were issued by the Sheriff and you had to qualify with the gun you carried. My first carry gun was a 3rd Issue Colt Detective Special. It still resides in my safe, but these days its too valuable for daily carry. Its since been replaced in the line-up by a S&W 642 5 shot .38 Special. When Tennessee went to state wide concealed carry (1996?) I started carrying my Colt Commander .45acp. I has been my primary carry ever since. However, over the years I have experimented with all sorts of guns for carry. Everything from a tiny .25acp up to a big bore N-frame S&W revolver. Sometimes I carry something completely different for a few days just because I'm in the mood for something new. Often if I feel like wheel gunnin', I'll carry my 3" S&W Model 13. To me that's the perfect carry revolver. The last year or so I've been experimenting with my Sig P-239. Its a very nice compact 9mm, but to be honest, my .45acp Commander isn't much bigger at all. While there are several guns that I might carry due to circumstances, perceived needs, weather, dress or mood; most of the time I only carry one of two guns. Either my Colt Commander or the S&W 642 revolver. And to be honest, I'm gettin' old, fat and lazy. So mostly, the 642 gets the nod. (i) edit to add:(/i) I almost forgot this one. Another gun I carry quite often is my Colt Mustang XSP. This mini 1911 is the only polymer framed gun I own and it serves a specific purpose. This is what I carry on my exercise walks. Its small, light and easy to carry. I believe the .380 cartridge is quite adequate for self defense. With its stainless slide and poly frame, its about as sweat proof as a gun can get. That's why I have it.
  17. Got this in a Guns America e-mail this morning. Grand Jury decides NOT to file charges. https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/grand-jury-chooses-not-to-indict-man-from-viral-texas-porch-shooting/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=20220408_FridayDigest_377&utm_campaign=/digest/grand-jury-chooses-not-to-indict-man-from-viral-texas-porch-shooting/
  18. The .30-30 is a very old case design and the brass is thin. They're real bad about bulging the shoulder slightly when seating the bullet. When this happens they won't chamber properly. Quite frankly, getting the seating die set up correctly is a real PITA. You have to get enough crimp on the bullet to hold it firmly when loaded in a tube magazine, but just a tad too much will bulge the shoulder. You might try taking out the decapping pin and running the loaded ammo through the sizing die again.
  19. Nah, Para Ordinance was bought out by Remington some years ago and killed off. But there are still plenty of them out there. I have one and I'll tell ya, without a mag loading tool, you ain't gonna get 14 rounds in that mag by hand. However, there are several companies making what are commonly referred to as 2011 Models. That is double stack, high capacity 1911s. Many of them use modular type frames with a steel upper section and a poly grip. Here's my Para Ordinance SF-45-A. These were custom, limited edition pistols offered only to active duty combat troops stationed in the sand box during 2009-10. My younger son was in Iraq at the time. He ordered two and gave me one of them .
