  1. Last update: Just out of curiosity, last week I took the good stuff down to Accent Jewelers. They are all the time advertising about buying gold and jewelry in Memphis. The guy who looked at the stuff for me said that they pay the usual 15%, but they are honest. They offered me $699 for the whole pile. I passed as that wouldn't make a big difference in my life and I'd rather just keep it in the family. I did sell them one old small lady's watch with a gold case for $60. I thought that was pretty good considering how little it was. It didn't work anyway. Saturday I handed it all over to my DIL. She was quite tickled about it and I got a big hug. I'm happy, she's happy, It was well worth it.
  2. HOWDY BRO!
  3. Check military surplus. I've got an old U.S, ALICE back pack that is my "get home" bag. Not overly big, but is quite roomy for its size. Midway USA carries a pretty good assortment of surplus gear.
  4. I was going through my late wife's jewelry and came up with a bunch of old watches. Some run, some don't. Just thought I throw them out here to see if anybody was interested. No idea what they're worth. Open to trades on ammo or most anything. Make me an offer! Pardon the pictures, I'm a terrible photographer. They actually look better in person. 1. SOLD 2. Novelty Tweety Bird Watch Watch itself is in excellent condition. Band shows some wear. New battery, works fine and keeps excellent time. No makers name. Copyright date 1994. 3. Geneva Classic Series: This is one of the better tier Geneva watches. Best guess: 20-30 years old? Excellent condition. new battery, keeps perfect time.
  5. Alright, I've had a thread going down in the Club Forums section for about 3 months now. Not much response. So I'll try it here and maybe people will notice. As I already stated, I'm not near organized enough to put something like this together. I wouldn't know where to start. So, I'm looking for somebody to take the lead on this. I would very much like to see a Memphis/West Tennessee Meet and Greet event. I'd like to shake hands and talk face to face some of the many people I've come to know on this forum. How 'bout it? Anybody up for the challenge?
  6. The U.N. has been trying to push gun control on the U.S. for many years. Many foreign countries would love to see more gun control here. Nothing new there. This code thing identifies the seller, not the item. Coding systems are used as marketing tools. They show how many people are buying stuff from which retailers. So if you go down to bass Pro and buy a fishing rod with your credit card it comes up as the same code. I used my credit card at bass Pro, so what? I don't see this as much of a threat.
  7. Ok, I went. Pretty typical for Great American. Not nearly enough parking. Building too small, narrow isles and people shoulder to shoulder. Hard to move around in there. There were some decent vendors and some good guns. Good supply of ammo. But as usual, everything was way over priced. I didn't find anything I wanted. Overall rating: Meh!
  8. Its a game as old as time. Doesn't matter if its politics, race, religion or whatever. Keep the people fighting among themselves and they're too busy to pay attention to what the people in power are doing. Plus, there's always money to be made out of it.
  9. Who the Hell is saying its a hoax?
  10. I don't get the whole Royalty thing either. Really don't care for the idea of it. But I did admire Elizabeth. She was one Hell of a lady.
  11. Too bad. I liked her. Classy, but still a tough old broad. I read a story a while back where she met some Arabic dignitary at her country estate. The country this guy was from didn't allow women to drive. So she made a point of putting him in a Land Rover and giving him a tour of the place while she drove. Gotta love a gal like that.
  12. I just got back from the Jeweler. As i suspected, most of it isn't worth much. He did find 10 rings and one old watch that are the real deal and worth some money. One ring in particular he valued at $1000. The bad news is that those places that buy jewelry generally only pay about 15% of what its worth. He said that's pretty much industry standard. He guessed that for all the good stuff together I might get around $400-500. The rest of it, while not worth a whole lot is pretty nice stuff. I'm guessing any one item could sell for $5-10 at a yard sale or flea market. There's quite a bit of it and that could add up. But I just don't want to go to the trouble. I think I'll just give it all to my DIL. Or at least let her go through it and pick what she wants. If there's anything left maybe I can sell it to one of those people who buy up yard sale stuff and take it to the flea market.
  13. You guys are in the wrong thread. Meanwhile.... https://wreg.com/news/local/man-responsible-for-multiple-shootings-wanted-police-say/
  14. I don't start no and take very little.
  15. Details are still sketchy, but from the TV coverage, best I can tell, 4 people shot. At least one dead. 3 maybe 4 carjackings as he tried to get away. It started at an Auto Zone in Frayser were he walked in and live streamed himself on FB shooting the 1st victim. Several more shootings and carjackings took him as far as Southaven. He was captured alive in South Memphis. But may be injured after wrecking the car he was in. This part is unclear at this time. Memphis has gone totally ape chit!
  16. Are you really gonna start this ? 42 years as a mechanic working in fleets. I can tell you for a fact that nothing holds up better than a Ford.
  17. Show it to us!
  18. No, we used paper maps that were given away at gas stations and could never be re-folded again.
  19. Service grade.
  20. Here's mine. 1942 Colt frame with an Ithica slide. No rebuild marks.
  21. Very interesting indeed. I like the part where the super rich are worried that their own paid security will turn against them. Yep, I think these guys are going to in for quite a shock if the S ever does HTF. All their money and planning is going to backfire on them big time.
  22. This is interesting. Not very far from me. I guess I'll go check it out. I found that the promoter is Great American Promotions They tried a couple of shows in Memphis before. I wasn't really impressed. But the venue that they had then was too small and crowded. Maybe they'll do better in Somerville. RK lost their venue in Memphis. Last I heard they haven't found a new place yet. No shows in a while now and none scheduled on their site. So I guess this is all we got. I hope it doesn't suck. Go to Great American's web site and you can print out a $1 off coupon.
  23. True. I'm sure there will be lots of pressure from her very rich family and friends. But Mulroy just got the job. He may feel a need to prove his point.
